No worries, LeDragon. Thanks for understanding.
And Australia does get forgotten in the Apocalypse. Wasn't there a whole book/movie about people in Australia having to wait like a month after a nuclear war before the radiation finally got around to wiping them out?

We are a terrible planet for the astartes to recruit from. People here arent made from stern enough stuff. This is far from a death world, much closer to a paradise world.
Would be fine for raising imperial guard regiments. I mean, we would have the uplifting primer to keep them confident until they all died. Last edited by Unforgiven; Jun 5th, 2020 at 08:49 AM. |

The only apocalypse movie I know which sets in Australia is "On the beach" of Stanley Kramer, made 1959.

The Road Warrior (the original Mad Max movie) was definitely set in Australia, and therefore we can assume the sequels were. The remake, Fury Road, I don't think was explicitly set there... but everyone with Aussie accents and a mostly Australia-accurate landscape I think allows us to assume it was.

A lot of movies get filmed in Australia but are not set here.
Like, the matrix. And a lot of Australian accents aren't Australian.

Ladies and Gents just to give you a heads up. Really tied up at work, and taking two online courses. One of them is extremely writing intensive and is dragging me thin.
Just wanted to let you know I haven't abandoned this or ya'll I'm just focusing on what pays the bills :-/

Understandable
Actually something those here can help me with. In the IRL game I run the players have been tasked with stealing an item from the hoard of a silver dragon by a black dragon. I would like some help designing the hoard defences. For context: The Land of Torres Conxeladas is one of ice and snow, once ruled by barbarian tribes. Fighting amongst the clans was frequent and bloody until one clan beseeched the silver dragons to end the bloodshed. At first, the Silver dragons didn't want to get involved but eventually, they did. The silver dragons now rule the land and moderate between the clans. As part of their reign, they have to abide by the same laws as those they rule and much of the tribe's traditions were kept. The silver dragons live atop a mountain of ice, the top of which has been carved into a castle-like structure and is open to all. The Silver dragon's hoard is hidden in the caverns below the castle the entrance of such is in the nursery. I want the way to the hoard to be a cakewalk for an Adult or older Silver dragon. But have retrofitted/newer defences against a Black dragon as the silver dragons knows what it is after from their hoard. I have 6-7 players at level 9 I was thinking of using things like: traps based on sound and heat Extreme cold trapped decoy treasures a wendigo icicles that fall from above if you too noisy slippery ice weight-based locks The main thing I need help with is layout.

I think the first big question was whether or not this place was built by dragons or tribesman. If humans built it, you'll have a lot more options in terms of design. If dragons made it, it will be some form of carved out cavern, likely without stalagmites and such unless they just found the cave system the way it currently is.
Traps are the same, humans can make mechanical traps while dragons can really only do magical traps, which are harder to detect and disable. I think one of the easiest ways to do it is have two hordes, a fake one below and the real one at the top(or vice versa, but the top is easier defended). Then they advertise the fake one to some extent, make it easy to get to, and have a dead man's trap when the enemy finds it. If you want some super nasty trap examples, reference grimtooths traps books, and you'll have a plethora of horrible, nasty, nearly impossible traps that will likely kill at least one party member each. |

Use grimtooths traps at your discretion though, if your players dont like having to figure out complicated traps, or you dont think they're sharp enough to, it may make the dungeon less fun.

Let the team climb an icy rock face to reach the entrance of the cave or cross a small, but long ice bridge over a chasm - this will give the team's heavy armored tanks a completely different challenge than normal.
In addition, if they are crawling tied together over the bridge, they are attacked in the middle of their icy challenge. Many usual tactical methods are impossible because they may slip and fall - heck, even a big snowball may cause their deaths! Fireballs and other area spells may melt or destroy the bridge, they are standing on! Maybe this is what the foes try to do and the spellcasters have to apply every cold spell, they know! |
