Oh yeah, this looks good!

Name: Fhaervala Hel'Vimtyr
Race: Drow
Class: Cleric of Eilistraee (Life Domain)
Alignment: CG

Appearance: Fhaervala is not an imposing figure, as one might expect, but the young cleric carries herself gracefully enough for one faced with unsurmountable odds. She is a dainty, waifish thing, roughly 5’4, clad in armor and a flowing white tabard. Her soft voice is light and airy, with a soothing quality that is more carefree than commanding. Indicative of her race, Fhaervala has long silvery hair, a grey complexion, and a crimson-touched gaze. However, her expressions and mannerisms couldn’t be more far-flung; and, admittedly that is what gets her into trouble.

Personality: Fhaervala honestly has no master plan, no delusions of grandeur, nor an insatiable desire to claw up the social hierarchy. If such designs go hand-in-hand with survival, however, she’d certainly get behind it. There is beauty everywhere, even in the most unexpected places; and, where there is beauty, there is also hope. By spreading mirth and goodwill, one can never truly be lost or hidden from the light of Eilistraeee. With that in mind, Fhaervala can find solace in the dark. Yes, obviously, she knows that this silly charade is not going to last—even if Vhaerun himself were to cast a stupifying veil over every eye. Lolthites and Dark Ladies couldn’t be more starkly opposed. To avoid a sticky end, what choice is left but the unthinkable? In a city full of sadists and psychos, she would have to find reliable, kindred spirits to depend on. Impossible? If nothing, she’s an optimist!

Background: Fortunes rise and fall on a whim in the Underdark, and though it’s a mystery how House Hel’Vimtyr incurred the wrath of Lolth, one can be assured that they were forgotten as swiftly as they were destroyed. Fhaervala was too young to recall, but according to her elder brother, Arthax, it was a grisly, terrible ordeal. A night of Death, fire, and exile. She certainly wouldn’t have survived had Arthax not whisked her away amid the siege. They were betrayed, most notably by their closest ally, House Baenre. Arthax fought to the brink of sanity, vowing to avenge their clan, one could say it became his sole reason for living. With a babe in tow, Arthax made a desperate escape for the surface. By some miracle they avoided ravenous beasts and ruthless slavers, reaching the mystical forest of Cormanthor, where they found sanctuary with the enlightened Drow of Eilistraee.

As fortunate as they were to be alive, despite their new beginning Arthax was never fully content. A part of him hoped that one day they might return—if nothing else, for revenge. The glory and pleasures of Menzoberranzan had eked into his bones, ever-calling like a siren’s song. As Fhaervala grew up, she was regaled of the dark, alluring wonders of the deep. Arthax found it incredibly difficult to adjust, yet, to his chagrin, Fhaervala thrived in the enclave. She loved walking in the light, dancing by the moon, and wanted nothing more than to live free of Lolth’s influence.

Encouraged by her teacher, Melistraessi, Fhaervala attended the nightly circles and festive High Hunts, until she too heard the voice of the goddess, lilting a beautiful song of melancholy. Melistaessi explained that despite all the dancing and revelry, at heart, Eilistraee is a somber deity. For, so long as the Drow were under the cruel yolk of Lolth, they would never know the simple joys of a peaceful existence. They were isolated in perpetual darkness, enslaved to an insatiable Evil. Believing that she had been called, Fhaervala resolved to become a Dark Lady…but, of course, it was a choice Arthax could not accept. What had been the point of their family’s sacrifice, of all those shameful years in exile? Had it all been meaningless? Did they die so that she could happily sing, dance, and frolic naked under the moon? As he feared, this comfortable upbringing on the surface had made her soft and utterly useless! However, after a lifetime of dealing with his overbearing demands, Fhaervala finally grew a backbone and stood up for herself. She had no intention of seeking revenge when Lolth is the one truly at fault. Those responsible for their clan’s downfall are still trapped in her web, as they rightly deserve! The unending game of death and politics they play is revenge enough. True strength lies in forgiveness, otherwise they will never escape the cycle of violence that tethers them to Lolth.

After their bitter fight, Arthax left the enclave to pursue his goals. Later she heard he had joined the fanatical ranks of the masked god, little more than glorified vigilantes and assassins. However, they proved to be a useful line of defense against the slavers and bloodthirsty acolytes that sometimes ventured to the surface. While Arthax secretly schemed and festered away, Fhaervala ardently trained under Melistraessi until she stood among them as a full-fledged priestess. After decades of service, truthfully Fhaervala had put the past and its troubles behind her. There were myriads of other things to occupy her mind...yet, as always, Arthax would never allow her to forget. Interrupted during one of her nightly evensongs by "friends" of Arthax, not only did she learn that he had returned to Menzoberranzan and had been plotting there for some years, but there was no question that Arthax was caught up in something gravely serious. Last they heard, he had been looking into House Pharn. Shortly after, he disappeared. They would have investigated the matter themselves, but House Pharn is looking to garner prestige. Hard to do with an over-abundance of males. A female cleric, though, now they're always in high demand...issues of actual creed, like serving Eilistraee, is of little concern.Minor details like that can be ironed out later. With some forged documents and a pinch of luck, she could pass for a Lolthite. Maybe.

Drovic
right-aligned image

Name: Drovic Duskryn

Gender/Race: Male/Half-Drow

Class: Rogue/Scout

Appearance: Drovic prefers the shadows and dresses to blend into the background, incorporating dark leather armor and black clothes in his ensemble. Doing his best to hide his non-drow heritage, Drovic shaves his face daily and tends to slouch and stick to darker corners of the room. At full height (5’8”) and in well-lit rooms, it is easy to see that is built bigger than your average male drow which brings up more questions than he cares to answer. Luckily, he retained the normal red eyes, white hair (kept short), and pale-blue grey skin tone, so most just see him as a large drow. Finding it easier to take down targets at a distance, Drovic elects to carry a longbow but will shy away from running you through with his rapier.

Personality: When not hunting a bounty, Drovic keeps to himself. Being a “Mongrel Half-breed” has soured him to most social interactions. However, he is quite adaptive when need arises and can easily converse and blend into a crowd. A skill he has practiced which helps in his line of work as not all bounties flee the cities; some hide in plain sight.

Attitude towards family: Family politics are best left to those of a higher station. Drovic will do the job he is hired to do and keeps his opinions to himself.

Attitude towards non drow and surface: On the few instances where his quarry has taking him to non-drow areas, including the surface, Drovic has found similar reactions of distrust. It is ironic that he is not drow enough at home, but he is too drow everywhere else. However, there are a handful who have been acted in a more positive manner towards him here and there, so he is cautiously open towards non-drow people.

Backstory: From early on Drovic was kept painfully aware of the fact that he was “Mongrel” who had no worth to the family. Why they kept him around was beyond him, probably for some sick form of entertainment. He quickly learned the value of stealth and shadows, vigilantly observing at a distance to gain insight on how best to avoid the family’s ire. As the years went by, he learned that his ability to track and obtain information on family members with out notice turned out to be valuable. And the right knowledge to the right person netted him money and freedom from those higher up. Drovic was given leave to pursue work as a bounty hunter in the city, so long as the Family was given priority over the others. Meaning their contracts came first and any pertinent info that could benefit the Family was to be relayed immediately. Finding it easier to work as a freelancer if not associated with one house or another, Drovic changed his name and rid himself of any material possession that could be tied back to the Family.

Alignment: Neutral

NOTICE TO ALL: Sorry about that, but if you can please [secret] me what deity you follow or if you don't follow one at all. Nobody else should know who you serve unless you really want it out there.

Don't worry Dirk, I've got an idea for a Good old school scruff from the old 0 lvl 2nd ed days and making that into a 3.5 ed.

Since my WH 40K isn't taking off, I'm going to let it drop into the depths of obscurity. We'll see if the 3.5 ed fans are up for an old school scuffle that nobody today ever experiences.

Oh the days of the 3D6 stats and using ladels as bludgeoning weapons.
