[PF-1e] Ghost story

Since there's still a LOT of Pathfinder fans, and we are jonesing for games, I'll try one.
I'm doing a quick recruiting for a Pathfinder adventure. Semi-ghosty/spooky, but not Ravenloft levels of horror or undead. But there are spirits, ghosts, and undead things, so the dangers can be deadly.

I'm looking for 5 people, balanced party, and I don't mind strong PCs, but I won't take them too cheesy.

I don't have a deadline for choosing, but i want to get started quickly, so I will start the first 5 people who have good apps and can make a good party together. that may be three days from now, or three weeks from now, who knows.

 

1) Starting level 6, proper Wealth by Level, I am open to most of the normal classes, races, archetypes, etc. in Pathfinder, although I reserve the right to say no, too overpowered, too much cheese, won't fit my idea, etc..
2) Party of 5 people, the members should have some role capable of dealing with undead, and providing buffing/recovery from common things like curses, level drain, ability score loss, etc..
3) Posting rate is FAST. I won't commit to daily, but folks that have been here know that I could. I just realize, most others can't. That said, I expect twice a week MINIMUM from folks, and would like three times. If you cannot post/keep up, we'll drag you along for a bit, then your PC will suffer, depending upon the situation (ie, they won't get treasure, they won't get past a river, etc.. they may end up dead).
4) I reserve the right to limit game breaking ideas/classes/races/spells/abilities. I decide what is game breaking
5) I'd rather not deal with LA, but you are welcome to inquire/ask. I'm more looking at PCs that can interact and help the group, so make sure your LA is worth it. No LA buy off, it straight up reduces your level.
6) Standard WBL. And, I am not a stickler that you list every candle and piton in your knapsack. Let's assume you have a pretty standard camping store in there.
7) Starting Stat Array from when you were level 1: 17, 15, 13, 11, 11, 10. You advance it from there with your levels, and you add/subtract your race bonus/penalties as required.
8) Traits are fine, run em past me.
9) Everyone gets one bonus feat of MY choice, once you get your PC idea started. It will likely be a very mild one, but hey, a free feat is a free feat. Eschew Materials, precise shot, weapon specialization, etc. are examples of what I am likely to give. You are free to make suggestions.
10) Skill tricks are fine
11) I encourage you as players to use your skills... That said, I do impose some limits here and there.

 

knowledge skills: use them, try them, I'll give you info based on your roles, when I can. However, some "knowledge" may be incorrect, because some knowledge in real life is incorrect too. Gather information is more likely to have bad stuff in it that knowledge history, for example.
search: technically, search takes a round per 5x5x5 area. Search is typically for looking through a corpse's pockets. Looking over a small chest, or a desk. Technically, "searching a room" will take a while. Searching a ship will take a Loooooong time. So, roll a d20 to search and loot a corpse. If you have a couple minutes, roll a d20 to search a room without a lot of things in it. To search a library, that's not going to happen on a single d20. Nor will this in my world "I search the ship.

And, i don't care what you roll for your glibness/bluff/best buddy check, you aren't going to waltz into a police station with a severed head in your hands, and have coffee and donuts with them in twenty seconds.

12) If your player dies or you fall behind in posting and get dropped, you can reapply for admittance, but I cannot promise you can immediately get back into the game. Your PC may be "taken over" by a new player to keep continuity going (critical moments, players, plot points, etc. may require that an understudy step in and take over. To facilitate that, each person will have a public post of their PC, stats, sheet, etc. for use if needed by others.
13) I do NOT NPC your character. I can allow them to follow along behind for a tiny bit if you are busy with real life, but I am not going to roll in combat for them, etc.. If you can't run them, they will be wallflowers for a bit (I won't target them or kill them, probably), but they won't contribute either. That said, if we are in combat, and you ghost... your PC may well die. Sorry.
14) I'm not a huge fan of familiars, animal companions, skeletal followers, minions, etc. that pop up to help then disappear and get forgotten, and avoid all the pitfalls and traps. I won't go out and target your horses for death, but your tiger animal companion that you use to get extra attacks in combat then conveniently disappears when there's a fireball or boat to board won't get chosen. I am not saying you can't have them, just that if they are important enough to have a major effect in combat, they are important enough to play correctly, and can suffer too.
15) we can do the Feat Tax fix, to make stuff simpler for martials (and others).

 

I am pretty wide open, but I do have a couple quirks...

If you are going to use an image every time in your post, make it small, please.

I tend to prefer dice in the game thread itself (in a spoilerbutton please), but I know some people like to roll separate, so you can do that in the dice thread if you want. Or do both. Whatever. If you roll in the dice thread, please copy/transfer over the data/information from your roll to the game thread for me... I dislike having to open multiple windows to get info on hits/misses, damage, etc.. a simple "Hit AC 24 for 18 damage" is fine.

I tend to like the posting format to be "Game post" and then spoilerbuttons for mechanics, etc..

I don't usually get too bogged down in maps, I prefer to allow your mind to do what you are thinking. However, I will have some, and sometimes, you may want to do something that works in your imagination, but not in mine (I pictured a door there, you pictured it was a doorway). We can work out such things. I try to not get bogged down in tiny details (is the guy 100 feet away, or 103 feet away? If your spell has a range of 100', then do it. If it's close, I'll give it to you. If not, I'll tell you "it's way further than you think, redo your action". I promise to not pull a rug out from under you (Ah, you imagined him being closer, but in reality, he was 2 foot past your spell range... you lose the spell, and you die.)

Story is the cool thing, and I like story. So, if you think you can swing from that branch and attack the guard, then do so... and roll a skill to swing. I'll make sure the branch is there, even if there wasn't one stated. Of course, that's if we are in a forest... You can't just invent a tree inside a council chamber, and leap out of an upper branch.

If you use a spell, I appreciate having a link to the spell in the spoiler. Even better... copypasta the spell info I need to know, so I don't have to look it up.

When you know it, put the spell DC and Attribute for success/failure with your spoiler...

 

Casting fog cloud on the biggest orc. 40' radius from center. DC 14 reflex, or be sickened (-2 to attacks/saves). Linky, copy pasta on range, effects, etc.

Dialects are okay, but they can get overdone and cheesy, so... "Sacre bleu, zees eez not de vay to imprezz me wit your kare-act-or. "

Foreign languages are fine, I prefer you do a TT tag to do the translation, and honestly, I am not impressed with ten font choices, six size changes, and different colors for every language and thought. I do not need a post that looks like Walt Disney threw up over it.

Oh, and newbies: Yes, I am red, and yes, you'll probably see some other reds in this game, but like all my games, I am committed to choose at least one new gamer, perhaps more, to join. this is NOT "the old boy's club", I like gaming with new folks, I was given a chance when I was new, I want to give others a chance too.

That means only Paizo sources are allowed, correct? Or did I misunderstand? (Just to name the usual suspects: 3rd party could include Path of War and/or Spheres...)

yup.

figured if we are going to keep PF alive, I gotta try to do my part. seems like a lot of folks crawling out of the woodwork for the other PF games, so..

If I offer one, maybe others will take up the mantle too, and we'll have a dozen PF games being offered soon.

As much as I think spheres is a cool concept (and have tried hard to play it), I am NOT the gm that can run a competent spheres game. So, I'd probably put a no on that.

In general, if you can find it here, and it's not overpowered/cheesy, I'll consider it.

You could reskin Raven Knight, perhaps, and apply again. The last game died before you ever really got past the courtyard, I think.

come up with something that fits together into a team, and you may well get picked just because of newness. I like giving new folks a spot in the game.

I'm contemplating applying with an Unchained Rogue (Phantom Thief Archetype) character that uses the Healers Hands and Psychic Sensitivity Feat to heal wounds, ability damage, Curses, etc, ss well as a whole bunch of skill related shenanigans.

Storywise I'm not sure whether tk play him as a Doctor, a Merchant, or for something in the middle (like a Snake-oil salesman for example).
