App
Name
: Pluck Flowers
Goblin Breed
: Brown Cap
Class
: Ranger (Spiritual Connection) 2/ Barbarian (Hunter) 1
Appearance
Pluck Flowers has a triangle face with sharp cheekbones, a strong large jaw line, and a wide thin forehead. Incredibly long pointed ears, supporting multiple earrings, peek out of his briar-ish hair that starts at the top of head and stretches out sideways. He has reddish orange carnelian eyes that rest underneath thick arched hairless brows above his large bulbous nose with wide nostrils. His large head is supported by a thick neck that rests on a short sculpted body. He is tall and thick for a goblin having a torso similar to a short dwarf. His mouth is wide, full of sharp pointy teeth in the front for tearing flesh and flat square teeth in the back for crunching bone. His skin is grayish brown marbled with flecks of gold. His sweat emits an aroma that combines freshly dug earth and squash.
His nutshell, forty-eight inches in diameter, acts as a backpack, sled, boat, shelter and shield. The nutshells interior is made from interwoven willow strips while its exterior is made from an inner layer of lacquered leather and outer layer of tough plant material with pointy spikes gained from the giant water lilies. A layer of silk rests in between leather and lily. It has a flat bottom to allow weight of items and goblin to be spread to keep balance and keep its depth to only a few inches when floating. A cross shaped pole is used to support the nutshell and acts as an oar while in the water.
Background
Pluck Flowers learning was the same as every other goblin within the Brown Cap. Nothing is more important than your Cap. Goblin Caps run thicker than water. Each goblin knows that the world revolves around them. However, this is not to be expressed. A Brown Cap goblin should boast about their Cap mates not themselves. Goblins should keep their words below a certain number. Talking too much reveals you know the world revolves around you so Brown Cap should keep their words below a certain number. What is the number? Your Cap mates will tell you with a slap.
Another important thing learned is that if an item is not on a goblin then it is free to take. Pluck Flowers does what is necessary to keep his possessions. Especially his stone. A goblin does not want to lose their stone. Weapons and armor fall just below the stone. Pluck Flowers always keeps them on his body. Especially the dark long blade given as a gift from the Queen for saving her life. It is a great gift but is nothing compared to the well made and well kept composite bow. Stone, Bow and Blade. After the three comes his armor. He sleeps in his armor. Only taking it off to jump into one of the heated pools.
A third important aspect is the worship of Huggarak, the Heavy. The earth is his home. No, not under the earth. The earth that you can dig up and hold in your hands. It provides the Brown Caps with their strength. It provides protection against starvation. It is the source of all food. Huggarak is not like the other gods that try to trick a goblins spirit in serving them forever. Huggarak gives the option of the spirit to find another host, a whelping brown cap, to contain it.
Death is not a release and just a temporary status until your next life. Not until the body has been fully consumed or reverted to dust will the spirit be free. Huggarak teaches the releasing of a spirit as a great celebration. Getting eaten alive releases spirit the quickest. Screaming in death helps in the release of the spirit. Dying alive in fire is a great honor and guarantees the body is fully consumed and the spirit has a better chance to get a stronger vessel in the next life.
Pluck Flowers learned all of these things. He grew strong. He became close with nature; with the earth. He got the attention of Hunak at a young age and received training in the Path. The Path was a specialized military for the Brown Caps. One that encompassed nature, of course, being honorable, expressive and wild. Pluck Flowers took the path of a ranger, got a spiritual connection with the land, and was a hunter for the Brown Cap. The main goal of the Path was to defeat the Brown Caps hated enemies.
roleplay
The oversized goblin trudged behind the others as they nimbly worked their way along the narrow path that twisted in-between boulders, trees and bushes. The path led them by patches of snow hidden from the sun in deep shadows with trickles of water that flowed downward. The ground, soft and wet, gripped at the goblins' soles on every step. The air was cool even with the sun rising high. The spring growth and blossoming flora dominated their senses with colors and fragrance.
The large goblin growled at the plants as an attempt to send their scents away. His cap mates, normal size for goblins, heads swiveled back, hands to their weapons, at the sound. Each shook their head, muttered foul words, faced forward and continued along the pass. The path led upwards. The smaller goblins, with thin backpacks, were forced to use their clawed hands to navigate the terrain. The bigger goblin, who supported a large pack, bulged with supplies, along with a thick stretched horn bow, struggled as his booted feet fought to find purchase. His hands grabbed a small tree but were unable to stop his body as it slipped to the ground. He growled again as laughter burst out from above. A few breaths later a knotted rope appeared. He grabbed it and hauled himself up as each step sought to find rocks, roots or trunks as support. At the top, his cap mates had waited and one uncoiled the rope from around a tree and tucked it in his almost empty pack.
The big goblin shrugged off his pack and placed it on a large boulder and took a seat on a dry piece of earth. He was tired, more so than his flight mates, as he had to carry the bulk of their equipment. He did not mind. He was stronger than all of them and each did their part for the cap. The smallest goblin of the group pulled out some dried meat from the large pack and handed it out to the rest. Meat was important as it kept the hunger away.
The larger goblin chewed on his piece as he stared at the path ahead. He swallowed the last piece and stretched out his legs. He sat and stared out across the land as his cap mates talked. Soon they were up, packs on their back and moving before he noticed. He sighed as he placed his right hand onto a rock and pushed himself up. He grabbed his pack and slipped it onto his back. He stared across the slope and sighed again. His cap mates about a stone throw ahead barked at him to move.
The ground was muddier than before and each step made a slurp sound. Footing was tough as the terrain was steep. He moved slowly, focused on each step, not wanting to slip as he wasn’t sure if he would be able to break his fall without the help of a tree or rock. He stepped upwards off the path and used a thick tree as a brace. Ahead his cap mates struggled with their footing but had each other for support.
An odd sound caught his attention. He tilted his head in confusion as he leaned against the tree, noticing that this tree sprouted upwards from the middle of a few large boulders. Ahead his cap mates continued onward. The sound erupted again. He heard the flap of wings as birds took to the air. He looked up above his cap mates and saw the ground move. He yelled to them but his voice could not be heard over the roar of the earth as it began its slide down the slope.
The movement was chiefly in the center of the slope as mud, small trees and rocks slide downwards. He tightened his grip as his tree shook while he watched as his cap mates turned and rushed back towards him. The ground shifted around them. He wrapped both arms around the tree as he watched the earth lift his cap mates and slid them downwards. He continued to watch the ground as it flipped over itself and one by one his flight mates disappeared.
The earth shifted around him but the tree and its larger rocks allowed him to stay firmly in one place.. It was over as quickly as it began. The large goblin stared down the slope at the large pile of earth settled partially blocking the stream yet did not reach the wide trail.
The goblin settled next to the trunk and rocks afraid to step out. His cap mates were dead and their death was the worst possible. Their bodies, buried, would not be consumed for a long time and their spirits would be trapped. He sat there unmoving as the sun reached its height and began to drop. Off in the distance he spotted large feathery birds in the sky dart down. He stood up a hand width before the sun dipped below for the night.
The large goblin recalled earlier the last resting spot with his cap mates was dry and he stepped away from the tree gingerly. Fear popped up behind his shoulder and whispered in his ear that the next step the earth would swallow him. He moved slowly and his body shook. However, the ground back appeared untouched and he was able to retrace his steps back. A small laugh escaped his lips as he reached the large boulder.
