Plot Summary About the World Carefully hidden from twolegs' prying eyes, around the shores of a serene lake, live four noble Clans: candid ThunderClan in the forest, resilient WindClan in the meadows, proud RiverClan by the waterways, and mighty ShadowClan in the marshes. The four Clans live in tenuous peace: there hasn't been open war in generations, but there's no shortage of snide remarks and suspicious glares tossed around at every moon's Gathering. But between hungry foxes, twoleg invasions, and bitter leafbare seasons, there's always trouble brewing for the lakeshore Clans... Trouble that is sometimes so pressing that they're willing to put their differences aside and work together to overcome them. But only the bravest and mightiest of warriors can stand against these looming threats - and you, having freshly earned your warrior name, might just have a chance to prove yourself! About the System The Warriors Adventure Game is an RPG system designed to go along with Warriors, a series of middle-grade chapter books that center around communities of feral cats that live in constantly-bickering Clans. As you may expect from that age demographic, the gameplay is very simple. Initial results on a Check are determined by a cat's stats, which can then be further enhanced by spending Chips and by applying relevant Knacks (think Cypher's Effort/Easing system, but without dice). The full rulebook can be found, for free, HERE. There are seven pre-written adventures: one shorter "tutorial" mission found in the rulebook, and six more printed at the end of the Warriors books. Lucky me, I still have all six of those! About the Narrator I should be upfront and say that while I've played my fair share of games, I've never been GM before. I thought that I may as well use this wonderful site and crunch-minimal system to finally take the plundge. So expect some growing pains. But hey, you've probably never played the Warriors Adventure Game before, so that makes us even! What I'm Looking For 3-5 players who: Are willing to stick to a twice/week posting rate when they can, and let the group know when they can't. Can put aside their human knowledge and commit to the world of Clan nomenclature - those aren't people driving a car, those are twolegs in the belly of a monster! Know that a true warrior doesn't always jump to tooth and claw, and can find other ways to solve problems. Extensive/pre-existent knowledge of the Warriors series isn't a requirement; personally, I haven't touched the books in about six years. The immediately pressing pieces of lore, such as the Clans themselves, are summarized in the rulebook. If anything else comes up that's important to the story, I'll be sure to fill you in. And you can always ask if you're unsure of something! No need to go through the whole character creation process unless you really want to. For now, just submit the following: Name: Be sure to follow Warriors naming conventions of prefix + suffix, and only use words that the cats would know. Clan: Appearance: At this stage, an image isn't required, but if you choose to include one, no AI-generation allowed. Personality: ShadowClan is known for being grouchy, but remember that you have to be able to work with the group. At the very least, they should be able to work together for the sake of bettering their Clan, or following their leader's orders. Background: We won't be referencing any of the canon characters from the series, so don't make this tie into any of them! Other character notes: Your cats will be starting at 10 moons (months) old, so they shouldn't be battle-hardened or hypercompetent. They're the equivalent of high school graduates at this point.

Last I checked on them, there were ghosts crawling out of a magical pond and possessing cats. Not 100% on that, but I was there during what was effectively a war between Cat Heaven and Cat Hell. The game doesn't really focus on the supernatural aspects, though.

Isn't there a similar game where you are playing domestic cats out on adventures? I remember playing that at a con once. I thought this might be that system till I saw the cover of the rule book

I still had the rule book because I won it at the con. Just took me awhile to find it. It's called the Secrets of Cats and uses the Fate system. It was cool in the moment but I don't know if it would go well as a recurring game beyond the first module.

Application Name: Dusksong Clan: Shadowclan Appearance: Dusksong is a brown cat with striped markings along her back, legs, and tail. Her tail is mid-length and fluffly, and her fur is a bit on the shaggy side. Orange-yellow eyes that gleam in the darkness sharply take in all details and movement, and her ears are wide to catch all noise nearby. One of her ears has a gash from some earlier damage and she sports a light scar along her nose. Personality: ShadowClan not known for being friendly or upbeat, due to their harsh upbringings, but Dusksong is pleasant enough if she's not challenged or upset. She can separate sport from fighting and enjoys cavorting with others. She's quite competitive, eager to learn and prove herself. She is also quick and curious, knowing the value of being a smart warrior rather than simply acting like a brute. Background: The other clans may consider the territory of the Shadowclan to be wild, untamed, or barbaric, but to Dusksong it is simply 'home'. Dusksong has very fond memories of growing up as a kit, playing with her brothers and sisters and roaming across the territory as a free spirit. True, there were dangers; in fact, Dusksong has lost several of her siblings. But she, and those of her brothers and sisters who survived, grew up strong and quick, clever and tough! There is danger throughout the territories, but Shadowclan kits learned quickly to survive or perish. None were going to protect those who could not protect themselves. Dusksong herself relies primarily upon stealth and tactical advantage, but has not come out unscathed. She wears her scars with pride, a badge of honor that both shows her experience and reminds her to be quicker, faster, and smarter. Now, at ten moons of age, she is ready to prove herself as an adult and bring honor to herself and the clan.   Stats Strength: 2 Intelligence: 2 Spirit: 3 Skills Hiss: 1 Jump: 1 Sneak: 2 Knacks Stalk Alertness Dodge

Purrrr Name: Puddlestep Clan: Riverclan Appearance: Puddlestep is smol! Puddlestep is black! Puddlestep has big inquisitive eyes and sleek black fur, but often it has bits of sand or algae stuck in there too. Nope. Not licking those off! Is he a small breed, or just barely grown up? Well, yes, he's rather diminutive, but at least he is fit, on account of lots of exercise and exploring! As he moves around on land, there is always something a bit self-conscious and nervous about his movements. Once in a body of water though, he seems as happy as any of the fish or tadpoles that swim past. Tasty fish! Too bad he's not very good at catching them. Personality: Puddlestep is anxious! Puddlestep is skittish! Puddlestep has learned that being amenable, and listening to one's elders or just folks bigger than you, really helps. He is friendly and tries to be helpful, but be careful if there is a stream, lake or pond nearby, because he'll get all obsessive. He's happy to help the other clans, as all cats deserve medicine and good treatment! A good thing he likes to learn things, because a lot of experimenting with eating and brushing against herbs has proven quite useful. If he's useful, there is less chance of being bitten, right? Background: Puddlestep was born next to a lake! Being a member of the Riverclan meant lessons in how to float and move about in those nice cooling waters. The Riverclan looked after him, and inspired the little soul to learn and make the most of life both on and off the ground. Sometimes he'd set off on little expeditions, in the search for the aromas of new plants or a small trickling stream. One time though, he kind of found himself a bit lost. Oh no, this was Shadowclan territory! A place where those sneaky Shadowclan were hanging out! Well, if he bumped into them, then carefully he'd tried to get to know them. It might help that he could try and heal some of their woes, because supposedly these folks were surely fighters! @wodine - You really sell Puddlestep's personality by your writing style alone!

A few notes about lore, though: the Clans are pretty organized, as far as feral cats go. They have established leaders, and all the cats live together in their Clan's camp. A kit being close enough to deep water to nearly drown wouldn't be allowed to happen more than once, but apprentices leave the camp pretty often, so it would be more fitting for it to happen then.
I don't think it's unreasonable for a flood to make RiverClan abandon their camp for a while, but they would probably have a formal plan in mind and wouldn't just let their warriors wander off. Hard times mean cats have to stick together! If it's just a personal thing that Puddlestep gets up to, maybe because of the stress of losing the camp, that'd be fine.
