What do you search for? The images usually help me flesh out ideas.

I got on my deposit photos acct and looked up the following terms mixed and matched several ways LOL: Sci-fi, space, futuristic, soldier, trooper, mercenary and finally....cigar.
(edited to add) I think I also included: thug, bruiser, jaded, and grizzled in some of the word salads.

Alright, looking at fleshing out my idea and going back to the character creation guidelines. It states our characters got into the guild at 18, but also asks about careers prior to joining. Am I missing something?

You start CC creation mini game at 18. You have options for when you jump in to the "Bounty Hunter" career. Before that, you have a lot of options... University, Academy, other careers, etc. We'll handle that after selection.

Right now, we just want a snapshot of where your story is up to 18.Your 'intro" to the Guild can be an encounter with a Hunter, maybe being approached by a Guild member, rumor, or some other contact.

After that, we'll work on the rest in-game.

Hope this is enough and covers what you're looking for. Happy to provide more detail if necessary!

There are a lot of fantasy games out there. It seems like it's a lot harder to find a good, meaty sci-fi game that's not based on a famous IP (not that I don't love famous IPs!). There's a lot of detail to what you've posted but still a lot of freedom to explore a lot of different character arcs and how they affect one another and the world. And that's pretty exciting. I have no experience with Traveller, but I've played a lot of different RPGs and pick them up pretty quickly, I think. I've heard about Traveller for a long long time and never been in a situation where I can get into a game, but it's one of those bucket list systems for me that I need to try before I get too old to learn new things. I am very much into long-term games (I have at least one PBP game that's been running since 2020) and I enjoy a little faster pace, because I think it improves my level of engagement.

2. Name & Core Personality: Describe the kind of bounty hunter personality you’d like to play. Are you a cold, calculating professional who views every contract as a puzzle to solve? Or perhaps a roguish charmer who uses wit and charisma to stay one step ahead of rivals?

Look, pal. I'm gettin' old. I've got a cybernetic knee and an ache in my hip that no amount of the good stuff -- and I mean the really good stuff, the kinda stuff you can't get on just any street corner -- seems to dull. So I don't have time for a lotta chit-chat and 'you can't kill me, don't you know who I am?' because you know what? I do know who you are and I gotta say, I am not impressed for one nanosecond. I got a contract here says you need killing and after that I got like... I dunno, three more? that I'm behind on. So I'm just gonna do what I came here to do, okay?

Oh, and by the way... I don't know if your people believe in, like, reincarnation and all that crazy nonsense, but if you do, I got just one thing I wanna tell you.

You come back in another life and pull that *@$# on another buncha innocent kids like you did in this life, I am going to be the last thing you see in every cursed miserable life you ever lead. Because I am a *@#$ing angel of *@#$ing justice, you sadistic SOB.

Alias is Angel, sigil is a silhouette of an angel with wings spread out, holding the scales of justice in her right hand and a big freaking gun in the other.

You want me to talk about my life? What if I don't want to talk about it? You think it's going to teach you anything about who I am? You think it's going to get you inside my head? Lady, I don't even get inside my own head. I learned long ago and far away that some things are better left unexamined.

Oh yeah? You think that's why I don't sleep too well at night? Well gosh, ain't that a shocker.

Fine. Fine fine fine. If it's going to get me outta here and back on the job, I'll tell you about my life.

Would you believe I actually had a pretty good childhood? Yeah, it's hard to believe, innit? We were all part of the same family, everyone in the colony. All the other kids were my brothers and sisters. All the adults my mothers and fathers. Not biologically, of course, that'd be too weird for words, don't you think? But it's what they taught us, from the moment we could start learning. Community is everything. What's mine is yours. We share everything and want for nothing. No one is weak when everyone supports each other. And I didn't want for anything. I always had food, I always had clothes, roof over my head when it rained. And let me tell you it rained all the damn time.

As we got older -- my generation of kids, I mean -- we did the usual stupid stuff kids did. We broke the rules from time to time. We fell in love. We... well, you know. We shared everything. We were closer than brothers and sisters. I've never loved anyone like I loved them.

Some of the kids, they got to go and help in the leader's camp. It was such a huge privilege, you know? When everyone's equal on the surface, any little thing that makes a person different or special, everyone wants it. Chaeno, she was -- I guess you could call her my best friend. I was probably in love with her. She was pretty and smart and tough. That girl could work all day long in the fields in the pouring rain and never complain a moment. She got called to the leader's camp and no one was surprised. But she never wanted to talk about it when she came back to the Children's Camp. She just said it really wasn't that special and changed the subject. We were, what... 16? I was never that pretty or smart, but I was tough. I used to hear that all the time. 'Jana, you haven't the brains of a glowbug, but you're one of our best workers.' Guess it wasn't just toughness the leaders needed in their camp.

Chaeno and the other kids that would go to the leader's camp, after a while, they didn't talk much any more. There weren't that many of them, but we all knew who they were of course. I might have had the brains of a glowbug, but it don't take too many brains to figure out something was wrong. Really @#$*ing wrong. It was just before the 18th nameday celebrations -- we all had the same birthday, of course -- that I decided I was going to follow Chaeno to the leader's camp.

What? Sorry... I drifted off, didn't I?

No. No, I'm not going to talk about what I saw there. I'll tell you one thing that happened, though. That was the night of my first kill. See right here? This tattoo on my forearm? That's so I never forget it. That was the night they tied me up and left me in the wilds to die. For betraying the community.

Killing gets easy after a while, you know? Most of my contracts, I barely remember them any more. But every once in a while, you get somebody that really needs killing. And I think, I ain't ever gonna wipe out what I saw that night, but every little bit of justice I can bring might... might...

Forget it. Are we done? I'm done talking, so I guess we're done.

I think I have finished up the Training Room for this game. I just need a bit more time to wrap my head around one or two last items, and I'll be ready to start pulling in new recruits.
