Did an update there; narrowed it to 5 options, of which I favour a couple; I'm also crossposting to reddit and facebooked a couple compsci major friends; hopefully with enough opinions I'll be able to avoid doing something profoundly stupid.

Quick question: why aren't you tracking encumbrance? Are you tracking the weight of the PC's possessions at all?

It is not worth the effort. I'm guessing that due to risk of resting in most of the westmarches, and things like depleted health/magical energy, parties will return to town sufficiently often that it won't be a concern.
