The first character I played was way back in AD&D 2nd edition. He was a male half-elf Ranger and illegitimate son of the king with in the groups campaign I joined. Sadly he didn't make it back to his fathers castle in time to be crowned king of his fathers land, which instead one of the other players with in the local tabletop group, PC that was a servant to the king with in the castle, got there before hand. Though it turned out that after the fact that the former king that died and my PCs father was a Ranger as well, like he was . It was a really good campaign and that started a long time game play with the group. I really enjoyed it.

Meavoi the Barbarian
My first was in D&D 4e. His name was Meavoi and he was a Goliath barbarian. He was the typical "jump in and wreck" kind of character, although he did face some close calls many times. One of my favorite moments with him was where the entire team, beginning with the rogue, failed at picking a lock. Meavoi walked up and miraculously.......stuck his finger in the lock-hole and crushed the lock.

When I first started playing (3.5), the DMs made my characters for me. The first time I created a character, his name was Pac. He was a monk/rogue kobold who was exceptionally crafty. I had a loose grasp of the rules, and it led to a good unintentional, but hilarious de-railing. One example was in his first introduction, with him punching an unawakened undead dragon in its eye and bypassing a long series of combat and puzzles.
Since then I have not used Pac, but his concept has fathered several characters that are inspired strongly by one of his many eclectic traits. And if you're wondering, yes. Pac as in Tupac |

My first character was a Dwarf Fighter nicknamed Blood-Beard who was keen on styling his beard using the blood of killed enemies. The DM for the campaign ignored carrying capacity limits allowing me to become a mobile armory for the group.
I am currently DMing Hoard of the Dragon Queen and Blood-Beard settled down as "Red" from chapter 1 as the primary person in charge of defense for the town. |

Using the D&D blue box set my first character was a thief named Dengarth. He was known for his caution and taking advantage of his backstab ability every possible chance he got. He died at level 3 when he sprung a poison needle trap that escaped his notice while unlocking a chest. I missed the save by two - the chest had gold and gems inside. The DM was really upset for me (we were both 10) and said he'd take the trap back, but I told him it was okay.
Dengarth was resurrected a few years later as an AD&D character who made it to a pretty high level before retiring in comfort to lord over a guild in a mid-sized port city. Last edited by ruffdove; Aug 11th, 2016 at 09:02 PM. |

My first was a Human Fighter with a Greatsword, back in 3.5. Held the line dutifully, even taking Combat Reflexes to make sure very few could get past him.
Alas, as was the bane of the single-classed Fighter in that edition, he leveled up. And met foes too tough for him to withstand. T__T |

My first time playing was in 4e Essentials, where I was a summoning druid named Yorian the Outsider (I used the summer archetype - hence my username). He was a half elf who had lived in a forest all his life until an adventurer passed through and recruited him to help save the world, etc, etc. Quiet and unsociable, his only real friend (at least at the start) was his animal sprirt companion - a bear named Sunday (who quickly became the party's default meat shield since he could be resummoned almost immediately).
However, as the adventure progressed he grew more friendly and wound up becoming Minster of Agriculture for the Nothern Empire (which another PC was the ruler of) and general nature expert. After defeating the bad guy and saving the world he went back to the forest and more or less became the emissary between the nature sprits and the people of the world. We later revived all our characters and jumped them to max level for some shorter quests during our next game (set in the same world and told as stories to our current characters) where we all fought Tiamat before going back and retiring for good as epic heroes.

First Character
My first character was a gnome bard. I barely played her as I was simply a filler player for my kids' campaign. She had great hair. Copper and came to a fun gravity defying point at the back. She died in my absence when I let my son play her while I was busy adulting somewhere. She was my last character too.

My first D&D character was a old human wizard. He had an owl named Set, and it hated him. Anytime he tried to use it the bloody thing would nip his ear before it went off to perform whatever task he had for it. It was great fun.

My first character was way back in 2e. We were playing the old Ruins of Adventure/ Pool of Radiance 1e module. I remember I had read a whole bunch of the old 1970s Conan comics from Marvel. They were really cool black and white comics that adapted the original Robert E Howard stories. Anyway my character was a first level fighter with the Barbarian kit from the complete Fighters handbook. His name? Well I certainly could not carbon copy Conan the Barbarian but I did the next best thing. I named my stupendously awesome first level Barbarian......Krom. you know Crom with a K. Thankfully he did not last long and we ended up abandoning that campaign and going on to something else.

My first was a dashing Ranger who on his first attack (and my first ever roll in a dnd type game) I critical failed and my crossbow broke and wrapped around my head pulling out three teeth... a good start to this world I thought.

My first character is still in play in a homebrew table top campaign DM'd by the preacher from my old church. His name is (taken straight from WoT, I may be a bit obsessed, don't judge, I needed... Inspiration) Person Aybara, a 5 Barbarian/1 Fighter Human. Dual wields an axe and hammer, with the Wolf Spirit Totem path. He is torn between the rage that overcomes him in combat, and a deep seeded fear of hurting innocents or the people he loves. But! He may die next session. It's a bit of a story.
So this witch, Heralta, was our "quest giver" and she had tasked us with retrieving this stone from a sea turtle dragon named Dragorijna. Dragorijna agreed to giving us the stone if we'd steal something from this ancient red dragon. Heralta said she'd be able to cast a spell to break the bond between said dragon and ONE piece of his treasure. (Note I specified ONE piece of treasure) So Person decides to grab a handful of good to send home, because his village had fallen victim to an orc raid of late, and he wanted to send gold to his people to help them fortify their defenses. Only the DM knows of this. 6 months later and we're on a ship bound for the mainland (the quest started on an island). Person has been having dreams where he is flying. He has another dream this night, and as he's flying over the water, the ship comes into view. "I've found you" a voice rings in his head and he begins falling toward the sea. He awakes to a massive splash which rocks the boat back and forth. Further investigation reveals the corpse of Dragorijna with the message "BEWARE THIEF" scratched into his shell. Oh great.... The DM describes a red speck rapidly approaching on the horizon as well as a 100 ft wall of water that is heading straight for our ship. Uh oh. |
