My first character
Oh my first character was 3.5e wizard that I started with about a year ago. His name was Bagendor, with a weasel as his familiar. He hasn't died yet, but due to the summer I hate to say that I can't continue his adventures until the fall. Last I remember he was at lv 7. Probably because I started playing with a wizard is probably the reason why I keep playing with spell casters, but they are just so fun to play with.

wow, it was such a long time ago... i think it was a ranger, our first gaming sessions were really messy because nobody knew what they were doing and we ended up rerolling quite a bit, this was in 2.5e

It was a 2e Druid. I had no idea what I was doing and picked faerie fire as my only spell figuring it was an offensive fire spell. I was in for quite a shock during our first encounter

I forget the name, but the first character I made (not including premade starter characters) was basically a Legolas clone. He met his first demise at the heavy end of an ogre's club. His loyal companions seen that he was resurrected, only to be the dinner of a giant of one variety or another.

Well, I was 7. That should tell ya enough.
I was playing with my sister as a cleric, and my older brother who was the DM. So i'm a Human Rouge, and we were making our way through a dungeon, and come up to a large bridge-like structure, a small stream running underneath it. And what should we find? A Gelatinous Cube. So my sister starts fighting, and I think that i'm all sneaky, by jumping into the stream and swimming across. So I move behind the cube, and I stupidly try to back-stab it, not knowing what would happen. Nuff said. |

My first character was a fighter named Klono, using the red box Basic Set. My brother and I used to do games where we'd alternate DMing because we didn't know anyone else who played (there may not have been anyone else playing in our small town back then 1979). The big thing I remember about him was that he had a suit of flaming plate mail.
It wasn't until around 1982 that I was able to get into a game with others who were already playing, and thus was born Rugor the Resplendent CN Half-Orc fighter with Charisma 7. He always hated "lawful neutral furniture" and later started a brewery making "red axe beer." |

My very first character was a typical Elf Ranger (AD&D) and later amended into 2nd Ed.
My first 3.5 character was an Elf wizard. He was quite possibly the worst wizard one could think of. He made Gargamel look talented! When I realized this (at the end of gaming session #2) I retired him and created a monk. He wasn't much better, but hey, it was still fun to play him. My wife's first character was a Half-elf beguiler. Unfortunately, she was killed by a young green dragon in Red Hand of Doom (my sad monk almost died too trying to save her butt, lol). She followed that with a Raptoran ranger, whom she declares the worst possible "character build" ever. Part of that is because she was unable to roll higher than a 3 on most attack rolls, but also the build pretty much sucked. Sometimes, the most memorable characters are the ones like these, lol. Since then, our characters are much better. It is funny though to remember the silliness behind those early characters. |

My very first character was a halfling rogue(I know, it happens a lot) who as his very first item found a magical belt, which of course made him a her. Soon afterwards the new she was forced into a specific kind of contact with a band of ogres who also were present on the boat. This made her slightly suicidal. It should be easy to tell what kind of DM we had, it was the only time I played with that guy decided over the fates of my character.

My very first character was back in pen & paper format, in a Star Wars game. He was a human bounty hunter named Tarkan. He was immediately distrusted by the group because his name resembled Grand Moff Tarkin, of whom they thought IC my character was related to - he wasn't, but I didn't realize the name similarity until my dice had started rolling, so it was too late.
In the end, my character survived the campaign, ended up defeating the Sith boss, and outlived every other individual in the group. It also helped that throughout his campaign life, no matter which set of dice I used from around the table (not having my own at that time), I rolled nothing under 4's on all the d6's no matter the roll or action. I ended up kitting him out in Mandalorian battle armor, for free, which was awesome because I was able to draw very well and put the image onto the portrait space on the sheet - to which the GM saw, immediately loved, and gave me said armor to use. Good times.

My first character was a half-elf rogue that eventually multi-classed into wizard. I actually wanted to go sorcerer, but my DM convinced me that wizard would fit my intelligence score better. He was right, but I always regretted not taking sorcerer. Of course, that was long before the splatbooks, so there was no arcane trickster. In fact, we didn't have any prestige classes. The first ones we got were from Sword and Fist, so I really wanted to rebuild as a straight rogue and try to get into a strange PrC called Ghostwalker. I didn't before I got my hands on Tome and Blood, which had the early arcane trickster. Unfortunately, that's when our DM quit. I took over, but the group's membership trained drastically. As a result, we started with new characters.
As a character, the half-elf originally went as "Izlude," taken from a favorite video game. Early on, he found a frosty short sword that would serve him well for a while. Around this time, he went into critical condition, so I wanted to withdraw from combat. My team made fun of me, and this is probably my best memory of with this character. Later, it was reveal that his real name was Tharion Redhawk (or something similar). His biggest adventure was leading a party through the Speaker in Dreams adventure. He killed some wererats, grimlocks, and cultists - saved a couple paladins. In the end, he slayed the Mind Flayer just in time to save the wizard. From there, Tharion wanted to establish a college of magic thieves, called the Red Hawks, and that is about the time the campaign came to an end. I'd like to think he accomplished this final goal, and that his story ultimate ends with him as the head of a small cabal of wizardly rogues. Obviously, it was a sub-optimal build. I know I took Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Whip Dagger), and I recall clearly also wanting a Dire Flail, although I never really tried for that. I also remember zapping down a cultist with a single magic missile and chasing people with flaming spheres. Good times, all and all.

I have to say that I think having a good time far outweighs the importance of optimization.

My very first character was an elf druid. I just loved using summon nature’s ally, I would try to use it as many times as I could.

Man, you figure I'd remember this. I believe it was a rogue, and I was absolutely awful at it. I remember I sucked at lying on the spot in the campaign. I don't think that one lasted long as we were all learning.

I just started to play D&D 3.5 a few month ago ,so the Character that im currently playing is also my first one.
He is a Dwarf Druid and just stumbled upon a caravan where he met the other members of the group. So far, we saved some children who were kidnapped by a horde of goblins and their Ogre leader. We also travelled with the caravan to a big city but thats where we paused. |
