[OOC] Campfire in the Cold

I apologize for the absence. The holiday was last week, and I spent time with my wife. Unfortunately, over the course of the last few days, one of our cats has gotten sick and that has taken all my energy and attention. We had to take her in to the vet this morning; they are doing x-rays and blood work to find out what is wrong with her. This is my wife's baby; we've had her since she was 9 weeks old, and she is 2 months shy of 11 years old.

I'm not sure how long this absence will last, but I will check in when I can. Again, apologies; this situation has just sucked all the energy out of me.

We found out this morning that she has lung cancer. And the prognosis is not good. She is home, but she is effectively in hospice care. There isn't anything we can do for her other than make her comfortable and love her and give her whatever time she has left. We are both heartbroken over this. So please be aware that, due to this, my attendance here might be rather sporadic for a while. We don't know how long she has, and we might have to make the tough call with her. I will be here when I can, but please don't think that my absence is indicative of not wanting to play. We are simply dealing with a rough life event.

My cat Mouse was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. It was rare and there was no treatment plan that had any sort of good track record. We had to make some tough decisions. What we decided to do was give her steroids to give her energy and appetite and also manage pain. She lived a few more months well. But we noticed a decline and just took it day to day, to say goodbye and then when she started to look uncomfortable and had trouble sleeping one night, we rushed to vet to make she she wasn’t uncomfortable for too long. It was always a huge question, "What do we do?" and no good answers each step of the way. The steroids were amazing for a while, gave us a few more months and we spoiled her like crazy. We just did our best to be good to her and mindful of what she needed. Big hugs from another cat lover.

Thanks for the heal! I was going to use Lay on Hands on Ungalu once he was done casting his spell, but this is even better .

Also I was it had nothing to do with holiday-related stress, office christmas parties, more holiday-related stress, my niece's birthday, and even more holiday-related stresskinda waiting to see what Ungalu could pull from the enemy's mind before replying, but I wanted to react to Ekaitza's last post so that's what I did .

I was going to make Ekaitza a classic tankier cleric with points to strength, plate armor with a shield, mace, and warcaster. But then I started looking at some of the special features of a tempest cleric and it doesn't seem like they are a tanky cleric at all with the push and the spells that go at a distance. Also, Galmath has that amazing movement. I didn't want to be going 20 feet movement.

And, now I am kinda happy with her being a fighter who tries to kite in and out of battle maybe, or stay to the side or back and help from there. I am for sure going to upcast AID each day for the max. on the three front liners.

Hey everyone,

Bad news here. I'm calling an end to this game, as well as my activity on the site for the time being. When I started this up in August, I went in with the expectation that life had settled for me enough to sit down and write consistently on RPGX, and would continue to be settled, at least long enough to see this game to completion.

That is, unfortunately, no longer the case. The vast majority of things happening in my life right now are really good. However, life is also saying to me, "Even though everything going on is good, you don't have time to do everything that's going on. Time to make some tough decisions."

One of those tough decisions is leaving the site and wrapping up my activities on here as gracefully as possible.

You all have been absolutely incredible as writers, as players, and as people. I value you all, and you should all be proud of yourselves for the life you've brought to this story.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that! I was enjoying this game a lot, too bad to see it end so soon. But you're absolutely right; better to just decide now that you've got plenty on your plate already, than try to do everything and run out of steam eventually.

That is a real bummer. I especially feel bad for the 2 who just joined us as they didn't really get the chance to see how awesome this game has been.

But, @Nasrith, I completely understand. You do what you gotta do, and if you ever do come back, know that I'll be here waiting for Galmath to rage again upon whatever beasts you put in our way. Good luck in whatever you do!

To the rest of the group, I had a blast being here. You are all excellent people and gamers, and I hope we get the chance to be in another game together! With characters that are just as amazing as these!
