Thank you for your patience, I haven't abandoned RPGX, but my attendance will be spotty for a couple of weeks. I'll be around whenever I can spare the time.

@Nasrith
When I scout ahead, what rolls do you want? Perception, Stealth, Survival...??? |

Definitely perception. Stealth if you're trying to be stealthy. Survival would be more for finding a new path than for scouting an existing one.

@Krossingkhory: Ungalu proposed to cast gaseous form on Galmath (or another volunteer) as described in the OOC part of my post (beneath the Spoilerbutton). I just wanted to let you know in case you hadn’t seen it. He spoke of “brittle bone and tender flesh” because the spell grants resistance to all nonmagical damage, not to offend Galmath. In any case, I really like the fact that the dragonborn doesn’t need the Darkseer’s help. I think that he has the skills to pull this off even without any magical aid!

That being said, rolls were pretty solid even without turning into a magic fart cloud, which is, if I'm being honest, always what I imagine gaseous form to be. Post up tomorrow. Was hosting for work all week and haven't had time to catch up yet.

Post is up and, oh look, we're in combat! Would've been fine if not for that nat 20 @krossingkhory.
We'll be doing this one theater of the mind, so please ask if you have questions!

Great Stealth roll and advantage on initiative? Yeah, means nothing.
@Nasrith When do you want me to actually post my actions? I would like to point out that the natural 20 is only a guaranteed success in combat, not when checking against skills/other abilities. But, you're the GM here, so I'll live (or die) with you stating it did. Last edited by krossingkhory; Sep 22nd, 2024 at 12:38 AM. |

Natural 1 on Ungalu’s Initiative roll. He must be still dazed from seeing the future…

We'll post in initiative blocks. Anyone that hits/beats 19 (so... maybe Demonslayer) can post their actions. Then I'll make an update with the troll + mephits' actions. And then all of you are free to post as you're able. I'll also note that I'm going to have Palu and Tabral step back to guard Aurok from 'other potential threats' so I don't have to worry about DMPCing two medium-level clerics.

And I'm good with waiting until my turn to post my action; I have a plan! I don't know if it's a good plan, but it IS a plan! |

Apologies for the delays, I'll get right on writing a post!
Unfortunately I've been swampen with work lately. I work at the IT department of a university, and September is a ridiculously busy time for us, what with the influx of thousands of new students who all need help with their accounts and whatnot, while teachers and other employees all decide last-minute that they need new online tools for the new schoolyear. Which we get to fix! Also, I was away on holiday during the last week of August and the first of September, and when I got back I found that I had like a gazillion tickets assigned to me, which had been piling up during my vacation time. You'd think my co-workers would pick up my backlog (as I do for them when they're away), but no such luck. And, just before my vacation, I was made administrator for two new projects, and of course none of them have any sort of documentation, that'd be silly. Nope, just, have fun figuring out how all this works, and please do so in the next few months because that's when our contract with the previous project expires. So that's a bunch of new projects, a massive backlog of student tickets, and the usual September rush. I gave up on getting my normal work done! And of course, by the time I get one thing done, three new problems need to be adressed. And by the time I fixed the first of those new problems, it turns out that no, the previous thing wasn't actually finished after all. I'm slowly getting to a point where I can say the bulk of the workload has been handled, but yeah. Lots of stuff that's distracting me from gaming! Edit: Actually I'm not going to write a post right now, because apparently I can't beat the mephit's Initiative of 19 with my -1 penalty. Go figure ! @Demonslayer, Ungalu actually cooked both of the Mephits with the third-level Scorching Ray. You can update your post or just let me know here if you'd like to retcon your action/do something else with it since the command doesn't have a target any longer.

@Nasrith
Unarmored Defense is 10 + DEX + CON. That's 13. Add the +1 from the Bracers, and that's a 14. So I am in fact hit by the Troll's second attack for that damage. The bummer part is that I cannot use any of the rage benefits to avoid any of that damage as I cannot enter rage until my turn. So I end up taking a total of 43 points of damage in the first round of combat. NONE of those attacks misses me. This means I am at less than half hit points in one round. Sigh. Well, here goes nothing. EDIT: Resistance to cold damage, so that total comes down to 32 damage. Post is incoming as soon as I can get everything straight here. (I mean, potentially I could cast Moonbeam and try to hit the troll blindly... But there's an equal chance I'll hit Galmath by accident, which doesn't seem like the best use of a 2nd level spell slot, so I'll just keep running instead) Although... I don't suppose I have enough line of sight to see the area where Galmath and the troll are fighting? Because if I could, I could cast misty step and join Galmath. @khory; I once played a level 1 barbarian, who heroically dashed into a room where he knew enemies would be. Lost initiative, surprise rounds weren't a thing, and both orcs in the room managed to hit my abysmal AC before I had a chance to turn on rage. I was dead in the first round of the first combat. All this to say, I can relate . |
