Native El Toran
Appearance
Short but stocky, Gord is in his early 30s and has been heavily weathered by the winters of El Toro. His rugged face is worn rough by the winds that blow through the frozen streets, and a thick beard and bushy brows peek out from his floppy winter cap. Heavy coats and many layers of old sweaters cover a body whose smell could be described as… earthy, given the cold environment. Layers of dirt and dust have frozen in patches over the El Toran, making him sometimes seem more like a wasteland beast than a human being. While this is occasionally seen as a respectable level of ruggedness for El Torans, foreign wastelanders might struggle to come to terms with this lifestyle.

Personality
A cheery fellow, Gord approaches his wandering life with a broad grin and a slightly concerning chuckle. The shock and terrors he sees seem to melt off of him, often eliciting a chuckle and a “Well now!” as he deals with whatever comes. His training as a “doctor” stems from a desire to help people out whenever he can, and Gord is charitable to a fault.
Gord’s never been one to be tied down, and he has wandered about El Toro for years, dropping in and out of groups as he felt. He hasn’t been above providing medical assistance to raiders, and will happily set up shop anywhere that doesn’t immediately start shooting at him.

Background
Born in El Toro, Gord grew up in one of the small satellite communities that sprang up in the vicinity of Liberty, Gord always loved being out in the wilds of El Toro, and his father was a hunter who taught him everything he knew about hunting. His mother was a doctor, or as close as one got in El Toro, and taught him all about medicines, dressing wounds, and how to make someone comfortable before they died.
Life flipped for Gord when the apartment block his folk all lived in started to collapse. The warm temperatures and melting ice unsettled more than treasure, and lots of old pre-war buildings had become as much supported by layers of ice as by concrete. One terrible day, the building (IRL the goodlife fitness on the intersection of Yonge and Temperance) came crashing down on top of the community. Few survived, and Gord, now a young man, had been lucky enough to be out on a hunting trip at the time.
He never did manage to separate enough rubble from the ruins to find many bodies, the only thing he managed to get ahold of was his father’s old hat, and his mother’s herb pouch.
With that, Gord took to wandering, always looking outwards and keeping a smile on his face. Life was too short here to stay down, and change brought many new opportunities that you just couldn’t pass up.

2 more days until applications closed, everyone looks great so far. If you have any starting items you'd like to sell to buy other equipment, now is the time. You can modify weapons and armor as long as you have the caps!

As I'm coming from a different origin, specifically a more generic Survivor background, could you clarify what equipment I would start with? Additionally, I'm not well-versed in the Fallout 2D20, so I would appreciate any resources or guidance that could help me better understand the game mechanics and setting. Does that work?
