[Game Thread] The First - Finding Terrible Things

Mu stands behind the others with his hands in his pockets, mouthing "Sorry about them". He can't quite hide his amusement though.

The goat gives a grumble at your laser comment. He was not expecting sociopaths. "So, your first assignment. People claim they are 'curious' about stories of the Mole Men still being alive after all this time. If you didn't fall asleep in history, you might remember that they moved down into the old transit lines 50 years ago, and the transportation board was more than happy to wall them off. Well, they're shutting down some of the lines tomorrow for maintenance, and that means an entrance."

"In short: go down there, pick some pockets if they're dead; ask them questions if they're not. Happy will take your crude scribbles and make a proper story out of it. The better a job you do, the less he'll have to make **** up, and the more you get paid."

"Think you can handle that?"

[Caput]

Mu nods and steps forward. "Oh, that should be fine. Is there anything horrific we should be worrying about?" Well damn. Shouldn't have slept through history!

Serena nervously shifts from foot to foot to foot to foot, considering the prospect of having to climb a ladder in her new body. I hope there's an elevator.

[badhorse]

"Oh good! I know tons about Mole Men!" Ringo exclaims enthusiastically.

Dice Does he really? (Knowledge local):

Somehow, he doesn't sound too convincing. He pauses after his claim, his brow furrowed. "Or was that Mail-Men? Whatever, I'm sure they're similar."

The goat glances in an annoyed manner at Happy, who is too busy shoving papers into your hands to notice. The papers speak of your route of attack(a service entrance in Line 22 at 9:00), and a list of questions to ask them if they do still exist(such as their favorite foods, reasons for not coming back up, and hobbies). You're reasonably confident that Line 22 should be shown on the Transit system map, thus saving you the trouble of wandering around in a confused manner.

"Try to get back out before the lines come back on. We don't cover 'willful self-injury' under payment." You're not entirely sure this qualifies as 'stepping out into traffic', but it's a good point to remember, you guess.

[Caput]

"Ok, I think we can manage that." Mu takes his papers and intercepts Serena's to avoid an awkward moment. "You OK there?"

[badhorse]

Ringo accepts the papers, which he stuffs into his coat without reading. "Oh, I almost forgot!" He retrieves two small bits of paper from one of his many pockets and hands one to the goat guy. Upon further inspection, it's clear that the scrap is intended to be a business card. It's wrinkled and a little stained, but the words printed on it are clearly legible:

Ringo Professional Need something done? Pay me to do it! Experienced as a mercenary, spy, wedding planner, handyman, negotiator, chef, scientist, breakdancer, [an unexplained blank space here], "computer hacker", snooty Center guy impersonator, laundromat, etc. Tell your friends! Tell everyone!

The font gets smaller halfway through the list of attributes so the entirety of the text will fit on the card. There is also a crude cartoon drawing of Ringo's face on the card next to the name.

Ringo turns to hand the second card to Happy. Seeing that the robot's hands are full, he sticks the card into a seam in the robot's torso. Then he turns to the other hired dudes and rubs his hands, as if to say "Let's get going, shall we?"

Serena smiles a little and nods when Mu intercepts her stack of papers. Thanks. Yeah, I'm fine, just kinda, ah-- it sucks not having fingers. Her voice is weak and lacking confidence, but clearly sincere.

[Caput]

Mu gives her a kind of half-sad, sympathetic smile. "You must have it very hard. I've got my dad's tailored brain chemistry, which makes the cerebral side of things a little... tricky. Normal life wasn't really an option, so maybe I know where you're coming from?"

He looks over his compatriots and at the door. "Are we ready to go?"

OOC He's going to move as soon as people agree.

Serena nods her willingness to get started. Understood. Still, I like to think this wouldn't be so bad had I been born this way.

[Caput]

Mu's eyebrows go up at that one. "Oh. Wow, yeah, that would be a struggle. If you ever need a little help with something, that's what I'm here for, kay?"

He sighs. "Anyway, we better get moving. I'm keen to meet these mole men."

He walks out the door, waving over his shoulder at the new boss. "Seeya later."

[DeepFriedWyzard]

"Well, that doesn't involve nearly as many lasers as I was hoping, but a jobs a job, eh?"

Hearing Serena's comments, Rena lets out a sigh, and bends forward so they are face to face. "Sister, I will carry you with my mighty robot arms, and manipulate tools for you with my mighty robot fingers, okay? I dunno your story but whinin' about it aint gonna help."

Seeing that the others appear to be ready to go, she adds, "Come on, standing around is for dead people."

[badhorse]

Ringo follows Mu out the door, glancing back with ill-concealed suspicion at his fembot coworker.

Serena, plodded along, following the others out of the office. She tried hard to ignore Rena's hurtful comments, tried hard to ignore Rena entirely. The walking computer was obviously not programmed with any couth at all.
