The roar of the crowd is deafening. Orcs, goblins, and humans are pressed into the upper tiers, filling the reeking stone troughs with their slavering filth. Voices rise, drunk on grog, blood, and money, and the stone floor seems to shake with feet trampling and clamboring for a seat. Below them, the prime seats: where puffs of multicolored smoke, twinkling and sparkling with green motes, other clouds of stately blue that hover low over the crowd, give off intoxicating scents as they waft over crowds of drow and duergar, seated on opposite sides. Walled, private boxes are shielded with waving silk, their wealthy inhabitants hidden in shadow. Beholders float above the crowd, black chitinous bulbs, their writhing eyes glaring down about them.

All stare down at the Arena, through the transparent Wall that shields the fighters from any interference, no matter how subtle or intricate, from the spectators. Within the grimy, stained, sandy Arena, the roar of the crowd is muted to a dull rumble, like the sound of distant thunder.

The combatants are brought to their starting places, and the iron doors seem hunched in silence, alive, waiting to open. All take a moment to eye the pedestal floating far above the field of battle, where a red silk sheet covers an unseen object.... a slight hush falls over the crowd as the red silk sheet billows aside, revealing...

Fabulous Prizes ... a dagger hilt made of ornate darkwood inlaid with two bloodstone orbs at the base of the pommel and at the crossguard. The blade of the dagger itself seems to be almost translucent if not for the light reflecting off it. Three faint grooves run along the length of the glass like dagger blade. One could almost swear the glass-like blade itself would be invisible to the naked eye without the proper lighting.   It is Invisible Blade, a trecherous weapon rumored to belong to a long forgotten master of the Black Lotus discipline. The glass-like appearence of the dagger makes one question it's combative use, but if the stories are to be believed the dagger itself has been coated with every poison known to exist and tasted the blood of countless victims.

Procedure for First Post Please post any buff round actions: there will be 1d3-1 buff rounds, and the roll is secret. Therefore, you should post up to 2 rounds worth of actions. Post buff round strategies secretly. Also roll initiative. The only circumstance in which a combatant could enter the Arena flat-footed is if the buff round roll is 0 and the combatant loses initiative to the door. The door may open on round 0, 1, or 2. I also roll initiative for the door (secretly, of course). Buff round declarations that occur after the opening of the door are void: the declarer does not need to use that buff action, and may instead declare a new set of actions. Generally, these will involve attacking the opponent somehow. Good luck ladies and gentlemen, and enjoy the show!
