As for magical items - is a ring of fire resistance in the cards? |

I'm still away, sorry, gaming takes second fiddle to career and I'm having RPG burn out too. I'm going to put up a tavern in character talk thread today while I have a spare hour and hopefully have everything sorted out in my life soon.

Whoohoo!
Edit: Aww man - I was just looking at the Thief handbook, and there are some awesome proficiencies in there. Observation and Information Gathering especially are appropriate for Mistral. Is it too late to swap Read Lips for them? Also, are we using Celestial as a catch-all for the native language of all upper planar creatures, or are we doing the 2e thing were each species has their own special snowflake language? Because if there is a common language to the upper planes, I would have taken that instead of Bariaur. Last edited by Ratpigeon; Jul 4th, 2016 at 08:23 AM. |

Speaky Goody: If memory serves, there is a Common cant in Sigil that is Common but with specific and wonderful lingo. As for the Outlands and whatnot, I know a lot of races have their own snowflake language but also speak either Celestial, Infernal, or Abyssal; though, that might be a later development to simplify. I think we're trying to go as close to 2e as possible sans houserules and simplifications that idi has done, and languages were not simplified.
The Goods: I'mma break this up by item type and money spent accordingly. All come from the DMG, with this table helping me calculate prices because 2e hates me. Potions and Oils: Total Cost-650 GP Potion of Extra Healing Potion of Invisibility Misc. Magic Items: Total Cost-800 Necklace of Missiles (4 missiles) If I'm being honest, I want more scrolls than anything else, but I figure keep it close to the book. I didn't spend 50 GP, but that's fine.

Given the large number of languages that our characters know, it would make sense to use the larger number of racial languages from p. 101 of the Planewalker's Handbook, because otherwise everybody kind of speaks everything, which is boring. The language that lillend is singing in might be Eladrin, being the CG celestial language.

Languages per Planewalker's handbook, I misspoke when I put Celestial. It's less Planescape-y if everyone can understand everything, to me at least. The fun of the Planes is the sheer variety, they are infinite planes after all. I am going to keep a Planar trade tongue sort of thing going on per the handbook too but not all NPCs know it, and it is a trade tongue after all. High ideals and poetry, stirring speeches, etc aren't its strong point. In Sigil practically everyone understands it though which makes it useful.

Not too late to swap proficiencies until we start using mechanics in game, just cite where you found it for each prof so I can vet them.

Lillendi aren't from Arborea (which is where the Eladrin are from). They're from Ysgard, where the Bariaur and Giants are from (and, actually, where the Takers have their home base). She'd be far more likely to be speaking one of those languages than Eladrin.

Yes, that's right. I was only speculating about which of the languages that are collapsed into celestial in 3e one would be most likely to have learnt and perform a song in.
I'll have a post up by tonight. Last edited by Mairien; Jul 6th, 2016 at 07:53 AM. |

I can definitely tell the latter, but we'll have to coax the former out of him. Now that we have an in-game objective....
