Update.
Recently talked to Corwyn and he told me that his novel (which shares many elements with this game) is now in it's 9th Chapter ! Huzzah! Stick with it man. And as they say 'round these parts: Git R Done !

I read that excerpt he shared with us. I intended to rip it a new one, but never got around to it. Over all, I was impressed. Who hasn't heard a gamer say, "you know, this would be a good book. I can write a book about our game, it's basically written already! And then I'll be rich!".
So, I my expiations were low. Then I read it and my attitude changed. Corwyn may actually do it. Not sure about the rich part. Most of my criticisms of the sample he gave was editorial things. Things to help make it easier to read or minor structural changes. By far, however, there was little I could say that would improve it. I thought the scene was creative and engaging. Very cool that he's so far along. Here's hoping he gets published! When it's on the best seller rack, you'll have to let us all know so we can buy one and read it and say, Ya, we gamed with him before he achieved legendary success.

The book came today. He's wrapping it up and says there are about 60 pages to handle the conclusion yet to be written but otherwise, the 1st draft is done, partially edited. I will be reading through what's done so far all this week...

Hah! The novel is complete. I'm working on editing and illustrating now. It will be published in the first quarter of '10. If a publisher won't pick it up, I'll self-publish it.
I do expect you all to buy a copy before, it hits the best seller list. You see, after all of you purchase a copy...it will be a best seller! Mwhahaha. Of course, this hinges on the hope that vampire stories are no longer in vogue next year, but what can you do, the teens want bloodsuckers. By the by, this particular novel is not based on the Pantheon game. You see, that story was already written by Fred Saberhagen, and was called The Twelve Swords. The campaign was based on his story. Also, my character in other campaigns, Corwyn, is not really the same Corwyn as the character in my novel. I just like that name... ...and I like archers. That said, Eindric Easywinde and Certes do make appearances in Arrow's Flight. Later stories will certainly also be influenced by my experiences in gaming. I hope you all enjoy the book. The rest of my life depends upon it (man oh man I do not want to go back to a 9 to 5).

Sooo...want to link maybe to where we can buy the book? Or maybe give more info. I put Arrow's Flight into amazon and came back with a bunch of random books...none of which look like they were right.

Just sent it out for copyright. Sending it to publishing houses this week. Thanks for your interest, I'll certainly post a link to the retailers when it gets published. Meanwhile, I'm going to submit a short story to Explosive Runes this week. The story takes place in the same world as my completed novel... and at least four more novels on the back burner take place there as well...
I'm looking forward to spending time on these boards in the coming weeks. |
