140gp, 50% here, 10% there...are these people serious?!?! And then they look away...strange and absurd. Imram sighs quietly to himself and dips into one of his coin purses. He pulls out 300gp and hopes that this gaurantee's him good health and a working arm. He places the money with an exaggerated and loud effort into the bowl and lays back down. He attempts to listen to any conversations that may be taking place just outside his sterile chambers. Well, I always wondered if there were higher powers. Never had much use of them before, at least not on a continuous schedule and hopefully it will stay that way. Imram waits patiently straining to pay attention to every detail around him. He expects magic or blessings of faith (that work) and nothing less, with all that coin he just dropped.

I'm cocerned with the long term effects and if he still has restricted mobility he will seek out whatever he has to, including the high priest who departed Cedar Grove. If he's healed then the search is on for this Mac CHARACTER and his loud machine (which will probably leave more of a trail then him).

The accolytes leave with Imram's coins and for a time he can hear nothing but silence. Eventually the priest returns with the other clerics. The smile gently and bid Imram remove his shirt to uncover the wounds there. Once he lies upon the alter, they begin chanting and praying while the priest takes some of the implements from the cart, cleaning the injuries and rubbing in some sort of numbing salve.

The priest works at the wound, using tools that feel as if he is gently tugging at the tender flesh, while the clerics chant and pray. At last when they are finished, the priest cleans off the wound and lays a warm towel over the injured area. Imram can feel that his other injury, is now completely healed and whole, but the wound in his arm still twinges with pain. The priest, Kalinor, warns Imram to remain laying, give it time, my son. Rest. The clerics depart in silence, all of them looking worn out and tired. Kalinor lights some sort of incense and then lays a warn blanket over the rogue, dousing the lights in the room and leaving Imram in dim light. In moments the soothing smell of the subtle incense makes Imram's eyes grow very heavy and before he knows it, the rogue is asleep, dreaming pleasant dreams of wealth, women and fame.

When Imram finally awakens, he finds his wound completely healed and the scar in his arm no more than a patch of pink skin. He has regained all feeling and mobility in his arms and hands.

Imram awakes he quietly slips on his clothes and stumbles about in the fading light of the last candle. He doesn't know how long he slept but he is for sure that it has to be late in the evening by now. The rumbling of his stomach does much to confirm the passage of time but his body still feels spent. Seems these clerics drained some of my energy during their healing... Imram stretches his right arm out, examining the new scar. Seems to work. Another story for the ladies. Actually it will probably be many stories.
He gathers his belongings and makes his way towards the exit. He attempts to find the head cleric and thanks him. I am greatful for your services and I will advertise your skill and the sanctity of the White Temple everty time I have to explain this scar. I only hope that my humble donation was enough to compensate your fine work. If I run into some unfortunate accident again, I now know where to go. --This will be related to either the high cleric or whoever he happens upon as he tries to make a less-than-obvious exit out the door.

As Imram stretches and examines his wound, he notices a strange feeling in his stomach and a mild headache. Unable to put his finger on precisely what is bothering him, the rogue writes it off to the side-effects of the analstagic medicines. His arm and hand works just fine, so he gathers his things and heads out, saying a brief word of thanks to the high priest as he goes. Remember what you have learned, and recall the knowledge and wisdom of Ardneh, always, the priest calls to Imram's retreating back.

Laying low

Imram makes his way out of the temple, thinking that it could be worse. Hey, at least my arm works...Damn Blue's. I'll have to keep the White temple in mind if I ever come across some coin I don't need...whenever that will be Imram slips in to the first eating establishment he comes across, trying to find something that is of higher quality. He orders a full course meal, heavy on meats along with a couple of stiff drinks. 'xcuse me miss. Imram gives his waitress a wink I don't suppose you know where the nearest Blue temple is that handles property sales in the city...? Imram mentally finds the building within the city with her description. Thanks Angel.

After the meal Imram heads home with a light head and a weary eye over his shoulder. He makes his way into his small apartment kicking the garbage that some unsavory neighbor left near his door. I need a new place... After stepping inside and double locking his door Imram again strips down and changes into some comfortable clothes and lights a candle. He pulls out his new writing utensil, inlaid in platnium and examines it thoroughly. After which he does the same with his new ring, and the parchement that has been written on. The rings a little big for me... Imram places the ring on his finger to see how much twine he'll need to make it fit. Hell, maybe I'll just sell it. After examining the items he becomes lost in thought, trying to puzzle out questions to ask the Blue Temple about the Stilleto and if maybe he could purchase it...someday. Imram also racks his brain about Ashly and this Mac character...then there's the other barfly who was there. Big Al or little Al or something like that.Wonder where he's at? Imram sips on his flask and as light of the day begins to fade, so does he. Imram falls fast asleep, hoping to recover from his busy days of the recent past.

The rotten toothed waitress at the Pine Needle Inn lackadaisacally directs Imram to the main Blue Temple office near the center of Cedar Grove, right across from Town Hall, between the public library and the Cedar Grove Constabulary Headquarters. She scoff's at Imram for even having interest in any such place, but despite her filthy uniform and grubby hands, she serves the rogue an oversized meal of fresh turkey and thick vegetable stew that is surprisingly delicious, along with the slightly chilled form of mead known as beer.

When Imram inspects his recent-most haul, he estimates the value of the pen and its case at about a grand. The large ring fits Imram's ring finger only a little loosely, but its not quite large enough to fit over the knuckle of his thumb. A bit of the leather thong around the band is enough to secure it on his hand. A cursoury inspection shows it to be simple ring of fairly low quality. Probably worth about 15 gold. More than likely it has sentimental value of some sort or Ashly would never have kept it as her tavern has always been fairly profitable. The documents, he discovers, include hand drawn plans and notes for what appears to be a waterside tavern, its images clearly representative of a new construction in a port city. There is a hand-written copy of the deed to the Stiletto, naming Ashly as the legal owner by inheritance. And finally there are Blue Temple insurance documents for Ashly's other valuables and property.

The bug

Imram awakes with a severe headache and stomach pains that he thought could never be topped by the night he had with Giselle in the Red district of Middleden. A long night and worth the dry heaves and loss of coin. This however is something different. Feeling aches throughout his body he begins cursing the white temple and anyone who has ever been remotely associated with it, including himself. I knew it was to good to be true. Damn priest didn't mention this as an aftereffect so I bet he screwed something up. Imram crawls out of bed and begins to lathargecially down his chain shirt and clothing. He makes sure his trusty dagger is in place and pulls on his boots. The thought of food sends him wretching into the wash basin again and he quickly stumbles out the door, trying to regain some composure. Is this from the "healing" or that to-good-to-be-true meal at the Pine Needle?
Imram leaves his apartment and again makes his way across town to the white temple. His mood is sour and it is plain to see on his face. Typically he is good at keeping his anger in check because that leads to mistakes but since it will be directed mainly at a bunch of limp wristed white clerics...maybe he'll let a little show.
Imram kicks open the side door of the temple. Where is that cheating cleric! Don't look for healing here folks...they'll just make it worse! Imram begins to dry heave, only having to act half way. He points accusingly at the nearest cleric who looks familiar You said you would heal me! Now look at me! I can't even eat and I feel horrible. Is this how you treat all of the patrons of the Great White Temple?
Imram tries to gather the attention of as many paying (for who really donates coin) patrons and church goers as possible. A few more seconds of this and they should hustle me in a back room for some proper healing.
Will you finish what you have started! I had Faith in Ardneh but now... begins weeping, I just don't know....

Upon Imram's dramatic entrance, many of the patrons of the White Temple start in surprise, turning in their seats and half-rising. Imram had chosen to enter right in the middle of a sermon, before a packed room and families of commoners dressed in their best clothes are startled beyond words. Grunts of surprise slowly turn into looks of sympathy as the rogue makes his case. Leading the sermon, in front of a choir of young accolytes, is the old priest that had first seen to Imram's care on the previous day. The priest looks down from his podium and gestures for calm. Raising his voice over the growing din and Imram's monologue, the elderly priest manages to keep an aire of calm and understanding in his tone, young sir, please. We are at prayer. The lord Ardneh will heal your ailments and sympathesize with you plight no matt... He is suddenly cut off as a set of double doors crash open on the opposite end of the room. For a long moment, the heavy doors stand open, only pure white light streaming in from beyond the chamber. Then from the radiant light strides a man in shimmering white robes lined with luxuoriant silver. Imram recognizes the priest as the one known as the cleric, Aruben of the Sacred Knowledge. His voice booms out over the assembly, amplified beyond what could possibly be mortal. You have fallen to evil ways oh lost soul, he speaks to Imram, but his eyes are on the assembled parishoners as he practicaly floats across the room. worry not, tormented one, for you have come to the right place. Aruben reaches Imram and makes a show of testing his temperature by placing the back of his and on Imram's brow. With an exagerated expression, he continues, leaning forward to peer into the rogue's eyes, it is as I had feared. Your journey of misery is not yet over my poor son. You are sick with fever! We will heal you!! He is nearly shouting, his amplified voice shaking the heavy timbers that intersperse the alabastar pillars and help to support the ornate cieling. Aruben takes Imram by the upper arm, leading him towards the dias and the priest who stands before the assembly. Imram notices that the other priests and clerics have now entered the room, moving to stand by the doors and entrances. Still more priests and accolytes now line the narrow balconies above the pews, all watching with silent, stoic expressions. The high priest oversees his choir as they lay a white cloth over the stone altar there, bringing forth fountains of pure holy water and the strange cubic religious symbols of silver or platinum that represent Ardneh.

**Do you resist? If so, make a Strength check to break free of the cleric's grip, or a grapple check to gain control of the hold. If you say anything, make a Diplomacy and a Bluff...**

Hmmmm....roll with it. Imram shouts so that all can hear. Ardneh be praised! I had lost hope hope but maybe the Holy power will be provided through the great Cleric Aruben! Imram brings his voice down a few decibels. I am not evil, I only seek proper healing through a skilled servant of Ardneh Imram surrenders himself to the practioners and plays the roll of a willing subject, sick with fever, he begins coughing. He whispers loudly to himself, A true cleric. 'Bout Fcuking time. I paid good money for this to be done right the first time. Imram moans aloud allowing himself to be directed wherever he is needed in order to put on a show for the thoughtless sheep in the surrounding pews.

--Only if he feels he will be physically harmed will he resist. Other than that it's Oscar time...----

Imram puts on quite a show for the simple-minded parishoners and the cleric and preists all warm up to his efforts as well. Still, once the rogue is positioned on his back, on the altar, the high priest takes over, pandering to the assembly and making a show of praying to Ardneh, asking the followers to pray with him. The effect is tremendous. All at once the whole room breaks into a droning chant that is indecipherable, but seemingly complex. In the tumult, Aruben leans over and speaks in Imram's ear. To be heard over the strange joint prayers, the cleric has to practicaly shout, you got infected because you did not donate what you had agreed to. You cannot fool Ardneh, but we will not count coppers. You were lucky to have been healed at all, but it seems that while our spells were spent, the Lord above deigned that our higher prayers did not effect you. I can heal your infection with but a few seconds of prayer, but I ask you now to love and fear Ardneh. Promise to donate 20 percent of your wealth to this temple to prove your acceptance of God and admit your sins against this temple and against Ardneh. I'll heal you regardless of your choice, but do not mistake my forgiveness for stupidity. If you squander our ways and and rebuff our efforts, you will find the White Temple a subtle, but potent enemy.

Clash of Greed

Imram felt that his performance had spun his fortunes in a posititve direction but the high priests words ringing in his ear brings him crashing to reality. I'm in their home and have to play by their rules, but I'll be damned if this old crusty is going to push me around... I donated a fair amount before for the healing and all your wonderous powers have sent me back again for more healing. I don't seek enemy's and neither should you. Heal what the Great Ardenh started and I'll give you 10%. Consider that generous, for I wouldn't want the White temple's reputation to be muddied any further. Nor would I want to involve any other syndicates. Nobody wants more enemy's. Imram attempts to keep his hands free just incase the Cleric makes a stupid move, but he tries to seem sincere in what he wants. Just to be put back to normal. Damn Blues, Damn Me, who do I have to kill to make things right?

Aruben scoffs at Imram's attempt at intimidation, grinning down at him with something like pity in his eyes, there is nothing the White Temple has to fear from a little upstart like yourself. Only these people need not be troubled by the doubt you seed, in already difficult world. Ardneh will forgive your transgressions against these people and this temple, but do not teast my patience. The cleric closes his eyes briefly as he says a few words of prayer, bringing flat palms together around a string of silver prayer beads. A luminescence of pure white light surrounds Imram, and he gets the heady sensation of floating, though only for a moment.
When Aruben reopens his eyes, the light fades and Imram feels himself being set back down, his mobility and locomotion feeling as if he were normal again, though his head still pounds at the thought of jumping to his feet or eating a big meal. You measure your charity in coins, the cleric continues as the High Priest leads the congregation in now excited prayer that sounds like the buzzing of many bees or of a large machine gently humming from a distance. My fellows and I ask for a percentage of your coins as representation of what we have sacrificed for Ardneh and for you. The symbol is more than just money to help the temple and help the less fortunate who rely on the temple, but it is to represent your embracing of faith that allows Ardneh to heal your woes through me. When you shirk from these donations, you are denying Ardneh's entrance into your soul and making it hard for your body to accept the healing that comes through to you, through mine and your faith. Aruben once again closes his eyes and prays over Imram's prone form. The glowing and floating sensation returns and when it is complete, Imram can immediately sense the full return of all of his facilities. He is completely healed. Aruben continues as the parishoners cheer under the High Priest's exuberated indication of success, think on what I have said. Let the congregation see you make your donation with gratitude, and go in peace. But I warn you, do not scorn the White Temple ever again. This time when Aruben closes his eyes, he does not bring his palms together, instead he gestures at Imram with the cubic silver symbol around his neck and a flash of searing white light erupts from the symbol to strike the rogue's forehead. Aruben then steps back solemnly, giving Imram room to stand. He addresses the parishoners now, with wise spread hands, healed of mind and body, he arises a new man of new faith! The Lord Ardneh will never turn His back on the repentant!
