The man whom Tyren knocked down leaps to his feet and immediately starts to retreat, this allows Tyren to lash out at him with one well-placed kick, sending him back to the floor. Tyren leans down and strikes the man one viscous blow. The archer, bleeding now from the head and the knee tries to get up again. This time when Tyren would kick him back down, the man resists and retreats with haste. The organized movements of the soldiers are quite effective under Threguy's assured guidance. A circle of swordsman quickly step up to surround Tyren, Eindric and Sandrel completing the circle. Another circle of bowmen forms further out, with swordsman wielding thier crossbows as support. Threguy calls a few men to his side, giving them orders as those mounted ride around the gathering searching for an opening and observing. The storm overhead persists, but with reduced fury, the rain letting up, however the eerie beam of sunlight still follows Tyren, lending him a golden glow amidst the dark, shadowed men of Flying E's 103rd and 201st divisions. None of the swordsmen are able to strike the lightning quick rogue, but they keep him distracted enough that one arrow gets through, despite his amazing catching and deflecting of arrows and bolts. This arrow is the second one to strike him and it lodges in his other shoulder, remaining there. The first had broken during Tyren's unorthodox assault, but it's shaft still rises up, making him look like a golden demon with lop-sided horns for wings as he slaps projectiles from the air. One arrow he catches, and with unbelievable speed, he demonstrates his ability to return those arrows, drawing his bow and firing and replacing his bow in one deft move. The arrow barely stops it's motion and continues on towards the unfortunate archer who had lost his bow. The man is struck down, the arrow piercing his shoulder and causing him to spin around as he falls to the ground. One of the mounted men there leaps from the saddle and kneels beside him.

*Eindric you get an AoO from Tyren firing the bow (even though it is the troop's turn..), none of the other men are able to hit him with thier AoOs. After that, PCs go again...*

After Eindric's attack of Opp, Sandrel does a couple of things. First he directs Glory to Fly higher, and away.

Second he steps back, and begins casting.

Lord Apollo, allow me to speak with you, though my words be limited.

**AAARGH!** I have no idea how long this has been going on, but I have been shorting myself 2 points on my attack rolls with crossbow and Luck blade. I only realized it now while figuring out how to add up my numbers for the whip, which I still carry but have not used in combat for 3 levels.***

Ein still wields the staff. But seizing the opportunity, he transfer's the staff to his shield arm and quickly grabs his whip from his hip. The whip's tongue cracks in rythm with his song and lashes out for the ankle of the rogue. (Trip attack)

If, as I predict, the skilled martial artist tries to counter his AoO vs. an AoO, with an AoO of his own, Ein will let go of the whip to avoid being tripped himself.
If by some miracle, he should succeed, he will drop the whip anyway and attack with the luckblade early and often.
AoO with trip.

This round upcoming will be the last one in which 4 songs are active, next attack (assuming the above attacks go off as planned - which they probably wont) will be made with 3 songs in effect.
But for now, there are 4 affecting all those present in their plethora of AoOs that will never happen...

The only thing I read about time delay is that starting a song is a standard action, but if you say it takes 1 round to come into effect then I think your math there is correct.

Sandrel looks up in the heavens and then down towards the ground. He quietly says the words "I understand, thank you, lord."

He looks up at both Eindric and Tyren almost as if thinking, or flipping a coin, or making some form of decision. He whispers some more words, so much under his breath that the words are beyond comprehension.

But the last part of his sentence is clea to all that would listen.

" . . . if needed, my life will be forfeit."

He looks at Tyren, with indeed a sad look upon his face, and then he turns toward Eindric and smiles. He doesnt know if Eindric recognizes that smile, but he hopes he will. It is a smile seen not on a cleric's face, but an archer's. Sandrel's own eyes dart first from Tyren, to Eindric, to Glory, To ThreGy, to all the other archers.

*OOC: this was the flavor text to end the round after my little prying spell*

Damn, thinks Ein, not again! He stops singing for the fifth time to ask Sandrel, You have spoken to Him? What does He say?
... Ein holds his breath waiting for the answer.

Eindric's whip lashes out, the staff falling to the ground. Wrapping neatly around Tyren's leg, the whip snaps sharply. Eindric tries to pull the rogue off his feet as Tyren shoots his arrow.

Tyren falls to the ground, unable to resist the leverage and force of Eindric's manuevre.

(Being tripped does not provoke, and since Ein does not have Improved Trip he does not get a free attack.)

Eindric now lets the whip fall to the ground and draws his shortsword, swinging at his fallen opponent. The luckblade cuts deep, Tyren being less evasive while lying on his back. There is a ragged cheer from the crowd of soldiers when they see that Eindric is turning the tides. The bard calls out to Sandrel as the cleric prays and is seemingly answered by his god.

*Sandrel's action...Tyren is prone...he appears only minorly injured (two arrows and Eindric's most recent cut. The other damage from th crossbow bolt was healed). Eindric, you have been acting like you have the feat Quickdraw. Also a staff can not be sheathed. If you draw a weapon, you must drop the staff, or fight two weapon style, foregoing the shield. Picking up a weapon from the ground is move equivalent and it will provoke attacks. On the ground, in Eindric's square, there are now a hand crossbow, a staff and a whip.*

While Sandrel is still not sure of the right thing to do, he sees that Tyren's condition is not that bad.

Again he steps back, moving further from Tyren and Eindric, towards Eindrics side of the battle so he is creating a triangular assault on Tyren with Teny first.

He speaks once again.

You have both given me no choice Tyren, you speak what may be the truth, but you attack before you give me time to think. And Eindric, though you do be my friend and brother, you let your anger soil your better judgement and go quick to accuse. You act with too much arrogance about our lord. You both have the power to stop this. Tyren you say you need three days, I can get you there faster, and you say you have five left. This is enough to perform our sacred duty, but you will not hear of this. "

Sandrel gasps his bow so fast it literally seems to appear in his hand.

"However, Tyren, do not confuse my loyalties. they are to my lord first, and then they are to my family. you have acted with evil, and this I cannot abide, as I am sure Apollo cannot, even if you do speak the truth and he is duty bound to protect you. you forget good and evil. And this I cannot stand for".

Sandrel looses 3 arrows, insuring that they will all take the power of flame as they strike. Sandrel does not know if Tyren can deflect arrows in his current position, but he knows he will not allow him to have one of these weapons.

(OOC: if he IS evil, add an additional one to these rolls, and crits are automatic, additionally, I am not including all the bardic songs about, for i dont know what they are.... If someone would tell me, I will edit the post to indicate the final rolls if needed.

*Holy crap you are correct. I never did take Quickdraw. Damn I suck!
At my next level up I am entitled to a feat. I'll take QD then.

I understand about sheathing and time BUT - if you look back at my posts about using the staff (post #128) I simply let go of it with one hand when I drew the whip. Then later in that same post, Ein drops the whip. This leaves his primary hand free.

Now he draws the blade. (A Luckblade is a shortsword.) So if sheathing it leaves no time to draw a blade and attack, which it wouldn't since I do not have QD, then he simple holds on.

I do not make any attacks with the Staff. To be holding an object in an offhand is not to be two weapon fighting. Holding the staff of defense should be no different than holding a shield. If I can glean no benefit from the shield because my hand is full, I cannot find a rule on it but also am not looking hard because I view that as fair. But I do not believe that I am two weapon fighting because I hold stuff in my offhand while using a one handed weapon in my primary hand to attack with.

Ein would not drap the staff regardless and he would also not take the chance to strike the downed rogue.

So make the results as you see fit and let me know where we stand. Also, could you please delete all this crap about QD and stuff. I'm sorry that I cluttered up the game with my idiocy.

okay, I'm going to have to say that anything in your off-hand besides a shield is like fighting two-weapon style. This includes anything tiny-sized or larger such as a mug or bottle, a shirt, a wand, whatever.

*delleting nonsense...*

Sandrel fires at the fallen man, but Tyren is still able to knock the arrows from the air as they approach. Only one of them comes close enough for him to try and grasp, but he makes no attempt to catch it, instead choosing to kick it aside with his foot.

The other men rain down a hail of arrows, bolstered by the fact that Tyren has fallen and that Sandrel has begun actively attacking. Those men with swords surrounding Tyren all try to skewer the rogue as well, slashing and hacking away.
