"Well, let's go through it," suggested Geb, and though he was not in the front of the party he shifted onward as far as he could.

"Right, then." The Dwarf stiffly mutters a prayer to Moradin and Dumathoin as he opens the door into the catacombs. Turning to the sorceror he says. "Now, there won't be no grave-robbin'. Jus' ain't right. But if'n th' sucker gets up and tries to give you a kiss, go ahead and beat 'im down. Tha' crap jus' wrooong."

The door swung open easily under the dwarf's push. The room ahead was nearly pitch dark, with no noticeable sources of light nearby. The dwarf seemed to be the only one able to discern anything in the darkness.

Adunakhor continues his prayers to Moradin and Dumathoin for a time. When he is out of chant, he informs the others of what he has seen with an admonishment not to go takin' anythin':
"The room ahead's 'bout thirty feet long by twenty five wide. The ceiling's taller than in the tunnel, prob'ly six feet tall. Eighteen stone coffins're in the room, six on yer walls and of six down the middle o' th' room. There're some runes on the coffins - these are some important ancestors here. There're four lan'erns hangin' off the walls in th' corners. So no need o' yer trick spoons." The crusty dwarf heads over to light the lanters with a piece of flint and trusty Angus. |

The chamber became illuminated after the dwarf lit the lanterns. It was much as the dwarf described, but additional details became clear with the added light - there was a large but crude mosaic on the floor. It is clear that this room is the oldest of the catacombs, and the sarcophagi appear to be those of the original founders of the village, back from before the human refugees arrived.
There were no other doors leading off the room, and the light layer of dust does not look like it has been tread on lately, although there are dried flowers and incense atop some of the graves. |

Æthelræd solemnly paid his respects at the graves of the dwarves, then cast a look over at the rest of the group.
"Honestly, I'm a little out of my element here. What do you propose we do now?"

[[There was more hallway after the door to this room, wasn't there?]]
Adunakhor takes out a small coin embossed with the twin axes of Clangeddin and lays it down on one of the graves. "I'm thinkin' we've seen what's to be seen in this room. Let's press on." |

Adunakhor motions for Geb to take the lead, as the orc (grrrrrr...) was probably better suited to finding the nasties that the Old Dwarves might have left to protect their tombs. He was also far more trustworthy than that poncey elf.

As usual, Frithioth took up the rear of the party. Magic users never were the most sturdy of folk. No grave robbing? How were they going to fund their next misguided adventure? What good are items and gold to the dead? Oh well. Frithioth was inclined to listen to his Dwarven companion.
There wasn't much of interest in the room they entered. Frithioth followed the elf's lead and quietly prayed for the dead. The party began to move again, falling into step behind the silent giant. |

Æthelræd readied his bow, and followed the party as they trudged on.
