Considering all my knowledge ranks (every one at +9 except for Nobility, Engineering, and Geography, which are at +4), do I identify any of the others? Assume that I use my Lore Master ability to take 10 on any of those checks.

Any of the other whom? Do you mean players?

I suppose that might be moot, though. Everyone is in costume, so you could possibly use Arcana to figure out Heilan is dressed as and that's about it (because of the masks and all).

I'm not saying there aren't, just that you currently have no idea of knowing because of the costumes. Ossicar and maybe Tania's family might pop up on the nobility radar (he did blow up his well know family after all).

You should also take note Grazzt that your Lore Master ability does not function like a normal bard's.

Just putting a pointer to the normal bard ability would've avoided any omission or ambiguity. If you are a player, you can tell the GM this is the RAI and an error by the author of the section that should've been the RAW. However, I am not the official errata-giver, so if the GM is a stickler for official errata (or none at all), you are out of luck.

It works fine for me! Tania is just trying to mingle, and to see who is here who might be attached to power (the wives and daughters of any powerful figures in the city, particularly!).
I have a similar question to Grazzt's - is it possible to get some hints about who is who in this ball just by listening in on the details they give away about themselves? That's what Tania was thinking of doing, but if the big event has started it might all be moot...

@Dragonsnack: Basically now, the night has been set in motion, you can attempt to get out of going on the garden murder mystery tour (like Ossicar...although, you might want to be better at it than he was), or you can go in. You should have plenty of time to interact with some folks though.

I see. Well, I assume under the assumption you weren't going to play along but I get I won't get to use that post now. I'll just stick the women fawning all over you back in my bag of dastardly gm tricks.

The clarification is good, though. Makes my life easier.

I will have another post up tomorrow...I unfortunately took a nap and now all I want to do is keep sleeping so that is what I am off to do.
