At 1st level you're somewhat more constrained, but when you hit second level expanding into new skills is a much better option than before. The system also allows you to be much better at cross-class skills later on in the game too, since you can take ranks equal to your level at the normal cost. 3 points behind is much better than 50% behind.

I understand how it cramps specialization; I don't see why. Characters are much more characteristic when they are very good at some things and quite bad at others. It's rather like that attribute issue I've always had - it is very likely that each of us, as a realistic human, have multiple basic attributes below 10, and perhaps only one or two above. Then we roll characters thinking it's absolutely normal to average 14 across the board. I guess I just don't want a character who's good at everything. : P

Alrighty, game thread is up, now that Felyx has escaped from stormitudes. Do try and get your character sheets done soonish, please! Also remember that I want a ranking of your OOC's attributes, from 1st to 6th, somewhere in your character post.
Felyx: I forgot to put it in your character's descriptive stuff: you have a speed of 25(because of small size). Also, if you're wearing the jewel on your person(rather than just pulling it out to use it's evoked power), that +1 to Will saves needs to be marked on the saves part. Malleus: Lorcan's money still shows as 110, despite his vast array of fireworks on him. Also, he needs languages. Connor: Still need your sheet. Suika: If you could copy over what the racial abilities/boon do on your sheet(the Other Notes section is fine), that'd be marvy! Caput: Gimme a sheet! I'm hungry, and it sounds tasty.

And you can go ahead and post things, even if your sheet isn't done. Let the game commence!

Let us all now put pressure on Malleus to design the bestest of houses! *you see a satyr, squished in a vice, trying desperately to build a balsawood model of a treehouse*

Hah! Challenge met. While I was at it, I...corrected...Connor's little inconsistency. Take any more liberties with my character, kid, and she'll destroy you and bury your bones. ![]()

Malleus- Ah, I misunderstood you. I thought you meant it made for more specialisation and considered that horrible, not that you think it's harsh on specialists. What's the problem? If you specialise, the numbers work out exactly the same as they do in 3.5.
EDIT: It's just occurred to me that I have no idea who James knows and how well he knows them. He's meant to be new in these parts, so the chances are he hasn't met everybody yet. Anybody want to know him from before?

Quote:
You hadn't written ANYTHING in your initial thread post, so I wanted to secure the second spot. In doing so I sort of wrote a introductory post sort of testing out a few things, namely the TT tags with images and the like. I didn't take any liberties with your character for that matter... I'd have to double check, but I am fairly sure I wrote that she was bound to be upset with him parking so close to the house, or revving the engine... either way you proved me correct, when you in your own 'tone' you altered what you referred to as my slight inconsistency. Regardless... you then in your next post... proceeded to STEAL my bike. The distance is immaterial. (Granted this was HILARIOUS!) In the future, please allow me the chance to correct anything myself. When I put in bold red letters, WIP (Work in Progress) and tell everyone that the current post is dependent on another post... wait until the initial post is completed and allow me the time to fix my own post before you attempt to paint me in an ill light. I don't think you meant it in a bad way, and if you notice my following post, I found it fun and acceptable. But I implore you, allow this to serve you for the betterment in the future. Oh, of course I didn't alter your post or anything. I only addressed the fact that you ended up rolling a bike into the fairegrounds - which you didn't know when you posted would look a bit odd. Although the few rennies around can probably appreciate the machine better than most city folk, they'll still shake their heads when you rev it like that. The liberty was merely the pre-characterization of my Fionn - your writing is a bit too intimately acquainted. Still, no hard feelings, eh? Please don't mistake my mild indignance for outrage or anything like. ![]()

No offense taken or given. I was initially under the impression that we were a moderately average RPG group. Meaning that this wasn't our first game together. Perhaps the first game of this system, but not the first time we've all met... If I am wrong, which is possible, then that's fine. If you'd like to have a semi-personal relationship beforehand, that would be wonderful, if nothing else than we've played together before... or we can discuss the nature of it at your leisure.

I thought I had marked the +1 on will saves, I will go check that out. I am sorry for delays, my school is giving me grief about the classes I'm taking and I have been almost non-stop in meetings with the deans and emailing other deans and I just hate my school at this point
But I'm glad the game is up, I'll take a look when the world stops spinning.

Oh dear. I've been through that fun before. Talking to advisors, then going to the deans, and back and forth because they're not actually in the same building...

The game will be scooted forward once we get a post from Felyx, even if it's just a short "I'm Alive" post full of hatred towards academia.
Also, feel free to vent forth your disdain towards your academic status in this thread's direction, if it'll make you feel better. Or perhaps we have some helpful advice, if such a thing is even remotely possible.
