So, I have got a start planned out. I know what our next two weeks or so look like; I have encounters, and I know how to scale them. Our roster is the slippery part. I have recruited one known quantity to join us.
During that time, Sassafrass let me know that he would be unable to rejoin us at this time. Given his situation, I'm sure anyone who's currently gaming with him finds this surprising. I hold out hope that some of our early friends will rejoin us later, so with no further turbulence, I will start us with four players. I'm working out details with The Fool but once I can get things going, I will. Thanks for your patience. |

Welcome Fool! Glad to have you on the team!
@Phinar: who are all the people in the meeting room with us? So far, I've counted, Roshan (I assume he'll intro himself), Aeldric, Alix, Cyra, and Claire as well as Lord-Captain Standish. Anyone else? Excited to do a little roleplayin'! |

Darkling -- no worries, no hurries. I'm being more responsive than I expected to be; hopefully it won't make for too much reading.
Dalarangreen: I really liked the way you characterized your experience with training. I think I had envisioned the Magical Division's training as being more combat-role-specific, like "here's some tactics for when and how to cast, here's some spells you can use to do X, Y, and Z in a pitched battle" rather than academic. But when I read what you wrote, I realized that it would depend a great deal on who the recruit was, what they expected him/her to do, and what that recruit's greatest weaknesses might be. So what I'm saying, I think, is thanks for opening my eyes to something I had not thought of. |

Awesome. I think mostly, I was riffing off your comment that two of the Magical Division's members were from the "Arcane College."

Ah! Right. The Arcane College is the civilian institute of study in Vigil.

Phinar, I'm confused. The Captain said that, by making Garber take us on, we're dulling his advantage, but we're on his team...which means he doesn't have to take us on....

Assuming Garber were completely free to pick and choose as he likes, that's true. But if your CO says, "take these five picks," how likely are you to argue?
