Sorry, I was going to, and then I forgot about it! I'll get on that later today.

Any ideas, guys, for smoothing our travel? ^_^''

I'll have ideas as soon as I've actually had sleep. =P

I think perhaps we ought to try and head towards the hunters trails. Claire will be fine about a sprained ankle ( she is a healer after all) but I don't have any ideas for how to move more quickly...

Ok it's been a couple days and nothing's moving.

I'm going over to the Roll 20 site now, and I'm going to adjust you into what I think your "marching order" is. I am going off what I have read; it may not be the most advantageous arrangement of your party from the stealth or perception points of view.

I will assume that your camping works like this: Claire gets morning watch so she can spend the time in prayer. Cyra and Roshan split the evening watch, and Alix gets first watch. Only one watcher is on duty at any given time. The watcher sits about 10 feet closer to the trail than everyone else, the camp is about 20 feet into the woods. Everyone is sleeping "under the stars" except that it's daytime so I guess "under the one big star".

It would be excellent if someone in the party were to assume a "party spokesman" role and become responsible for proposing things like this. As the DM, I feel a little guilty when I propose a plan with some holes in it, then take advantage of those holes. As the DM, I feel like this really should not be my role, unless as players you have gone astray.

I nominate the Fool as the spokesman. He's come up with some good things already!

Sounds good Phinar, thanks for taking initiative on this one (even if it is not your role).

Aww, thanks dalarangreen!

Phinar, apologies for the delay. I had two massive deadlines this weekend. As for the plan....

If I have this right, we are sleeping during the 12 hours of daylight and traveling for 8 hours at night, leaving 4 hours for miscellaneous things. All four of us need a total of 8 hours of sleep, meaning any one individual can have, at most, a 4-hour watch. This is convenient because it means not all of us have to take a shift. Worst visibility is at sunup and sundown, which makes that also a bad time to be traveling.

As such, I'm thinking we could do the following watch rotation:
First 4 hours -- Cyra keeps watch, everyone else sleeps.
Middle 4 hours -- Roshan keeps watch, everyone else sleeps.
Last 4 hours -- Cyra and Roshan sleep, Claire and Alix keep watch. This gives Claire time to prepare spells.

The specifics of who takes what watch can be adjusted. This has one particular benefit, which is that we have two sets of eyes open during the afternoon (when people are more active). Additionally, it also ensures that the person with the lowest Perception score (Claire) is not on watch alone.

Downside is that Claire wouldn't have been taking watch, least of all doing so before Roshan. Sorry ^_^''

Additionally, I'd like to put our camp 65 feet away from the road, so as to be beyond the range of torchlight and Darkvision.

Ok. That's a great plan for camp! I feel like we skipped ahead a little, though. I have us still in the woods, off the beaten track, for one more post cycle. I did that so that when you get to the trail, I know your march order and deployment looks like. Some stuff is fixin' to happen! I need to know how it goes down.

So, Marching order! Please! And then we can break free of the off-trail part of our journey and head south on the trail.

Roshan'll take point. Perhaps Cyra takes rear guard and casters in the middle?

Sounds good. Much like I arranged in Roll 20. How far does point lead? How close does rear follow?

Sounds good to me too. Sorry for the pre-emptive post. Guess I was confused how things were rolling.

If she doesn't post, you can assume we head South, find the hunting trail if we can, and camp in the woods.

Note: I edited my post for an additional stealth roll for Roshan actually hiding (as opposed to the survival/stealth roll to find a good place to hide in)
