Class: Rogue into rogue/bard.

Hook: Information specialist yearning for a better life.
Line: Spy? Assassin? Thief? Preposterous, I am Trystienne St Claire an acteur and thespian, but who was it you want the skinny on?

Sinker: Anything can be bought, sold or found in Cheliax. From velvets to virtue everything has it's price,but the best prices are reserved for information. Documents out of a safe, the name of a mistress, the next plot by your enemies are all more valuable than any gem or jeweled bauble and Tryste somehow gets such merchandise for a proper price and very discretely. With access to common rooms and noble houses as well as the occasional theater he enigmatically manages to stumble upon interesting tidbits despite his vacuous, pompous and relatively harmless appearance. For this particular assignment someone else pulled the strings and managed to get the actor a "gig" doing research for a stage production concerning these strange crimes. Through various layers of deception and misleading contacts the Acteur will be investigating the crimes and reporting to a shadowy figure supposedly with the local government. Of course there are nobles intrigued by the situation, and inevitably the thieves guild will be interested in developments...

Proposed campaign trait: Child of infamy.
Tryste is the most likely illegitimate son of noted Diva of stage and parlour, Dulcia Sinclaire. The Diva, or Duchess, or simply Madame Sinclaire, was a staple amongst nobles and the powerful of the city until close to a decade ago. Her fame, beauty and talent for performing gave her access to the most notable families. Unfortunately her other talents, for seduction, extortion, and espionage, finally caught up to her. Her son Tryste found out about his mother's death when the landlord came and threw him out of their lavish living quarters. Until then he had been the charge of a number of attractive nannies while his mother was busy, and a target for her dramatic affection and attention whenever her schedule would permit. Now however he found himself a child of the street. Fortunately under the silks and elaborately curled tresses was a survivor and a wit as sharp as his mother's had been. Tryste adapted quicky to his new life. Morals became an inconvenience and he found himself quite capable of cutting a purse or worse. It was only after being associated with an upcoming young member of the thieves guild that his eyes were opened to the much less dangerous work of TALKING people out of their money. From cutpurse, to beggar, to actor and spy for the guild took a fairly brief time and each step seemed perfectly logical. Now he is ready to profit from the mystery and reputation of his mother. Of course it would never do to let the "marks" see behind the facade. To most of the world he is a vacuous self-important diva just as his mother was. Few see beyond that to wonder if maybe he has other talents akin to hers as well.

I like your backstory but I'm not sure how it serves as a campaign trait.

Here's two I thought of:

Dramatic Personality. As a performer of some repute, take +3 on social skills with members of high society.

Information Broker. Take a +4 to active appraise checks to assess the value of some information. Always get a passive check to recognize valuable information.

The first is I think one of the traits I offered Poppy. If they are different we should correct that....

Oops. Sorry. I stole that campaign trait from Council of thieves. it gives +1 perform and it is always a class skill +300gp additional starting coin.
I am quite content with Information Broker though. It's a fairly specific skill but a significant bonus and the passive check is VERY good.

So for a second trait I'd still like to consider Child of infamy for the perform skill and a little cash bonus for some equipment like disguise kit and MW backpack since he's not the stoutest character we'll meet lol. Child of the streets would be my second choice for some rogue bonuses I think.

Background2 Tryste's first exposure to a world outside of his elite and pampered apartments came upon being evicted to the streets. He quickly learned to survive amongst the other street urchins by wit and speed of foot as well as the occasional lapse in morals.

Background2Seeing the boy's appearance and resemblance to his mother, a retired actor and now trainer for the beggar's guild took him underwing. Tryste learned the art of the con, the trickster and charlatan. From begging with sugar water ulcers to draw flies, to the elaborate con games where the innocent seeming youth reeled in a mark, he learned that those fast wits and quick tongue were even better weapons than a dagger and a better protection than being fleet of foot and agile.

Background1. Seeking to earn his own place, Tryste has begun nosing about for information and benefactors to help him reachieve the status and luxuries of his early lives. Thieves, assassins and merchants all sale their skills, but information is much easier to transport and almost never backfires. The same could be said for Disinformation except for the occasional revenge inspired by victims of a well orchestrated gossip campaign.
