Okay I am a bit confused -- we were heading West -- not standing there wondering what to do -- I was expecting a post denoting what laid beyond the West door - which I had stated Themis had opened and a couple others I believe had said they went through ?? maybe. Are we being punished for ??inaction?? or is this to be expected going forward -- just curious so that I have solid understanding of what to expect from a players point of view
Also curious 4 1st Level Characters vs Encounter / Easy 100 XP / Medium 200 xp / Hard 300 XP / Deadly 400 XP -- 2 Standard Wights are 1400 XP that is over 3x Deadly ?? -- In fact 1 Wight is considered a hard encounter for 4 - 4th level characters -- Not complaining just trying to understand things

Yes I did -- but then that group was not moving through a door on their way to wherever -- they were in fact just standing around doing nothing for more than 24 hours.
As for the encounter -- rather than changing what you have posted -- you can simply say they are weak Wights then use the Hobgoblin stats but remove the Hobgoblins special ability of : Martial Advantage. Once per turn, the hobgoblin can deal an extra 7 (2d6) damage to a creature it hits with a weapon attack if that creature is within 5 feet of an ally of the hobgoblin that isn't incapacitated.and replace it with the Wights special abilities of : Damage Resistances necrotic; bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing from nonmagical weapons that aren't silveredThat should raise the XP value of the Hobgoblin to about 150xp and still make this a very difficult encounter. -- OR we can run as you say but we were -- if you look -- going through the west door when sprung the encounter on us Note : Not telling you what to do so please do not take it that way -- it is your game I am just making a friendly suggestion
