Before I leave I will set the first game post and put everyone in the Inn. You can RP for the week (bonus exp) and play out the "get to know you" phase casually while I am gone.

On the other hand, we compensate for the lack of choice by getting crazy pact bonuses. I mean gee, free action teleport, temp hp, or (star bonus) for a cursed target going to 0 or less? Ok!

And that's if you're NOT human (who get a choice in the matter of the 3rd at-will attack).

True Avayar. The Warlock is my favorite 4e class so far. Then again I haven't gotten to play a cleric yet so when we start I'll see what I think of the cleric. They seem a bit more fun than before.

When I played a Cleric for a little "Preview Day" at the game store, which is to say running Keep on the Shadowfell, I noticed that I was using healing word like crazy. The main thing I observed was that it really depends on how the Cleric was set up, which is to say whether you want to provide ranged support, or Warpriest it up and go melee bansai aiaiaiaiaiai with the fighter crew. Personally, I preferred the option of Lance of Faith and let the Rogue take care of the rest thanks to the attack roll bonus.

Also, is it me or is Channel Divinity: Divine Favor really weaksauce? +1 to your next attack roll or saving throw unless your next turn ends (as compared to a stat modifier like Wis), can't use other divinity powers that encounter, and it never increases over time? At least it's a free action, but still...

Memo to me: Ask WotC CS how the Cleric's Healer's Lore ability interacts with powers such as cure light wounds and healing word especially.

And then we get choices from that point on. Oh, and the pact blade is nice as well.

Better yet. Pact blade, and a rod of corruption. A rod does not techicaly count as a weapon. So you can have both, though this is more for the rod to spread the curses, and the pact blade for your actual implement.

I have noticed that 4e seems to be much much more combat oriented than other version, it seems more like a wargame than an rpg to me.

Another is that there is very little variety between classes. With only slight variations , the majority of the powers for all classes do pretty much the same thing. They each have a slightly different focus (i.e. more of a type of power) but similar.
"Power X does 2W+mod and causes weakened condition" for nearly every class, same with "does damage + shift", etc.

I am really hoping that the expansions more utility powers.

Oh yeah, and the tiefling always looking the same bothers me too. I like the odd tiefling with no horns but back-jointed legs...or vestigial wings...or nearly human looking.

That basically sums up my opinion on this edition of D&D. I promised myself that I would give it a shot though, before I burned my books, lol. Would be a shame though, the pictures are quite pretty.

Not necessarily the title of the power, but one of the keywords. healing, divine, implement, etc...
Beacon of Hope is another example of one it would work with.
