Oh goodness, Dwarf Fortress... stupid lazy dwarfs and their nonsensical desire to wade out into a horde of rampaging enemies for beer!
Also, unrelated note: tacked the Classically Schooled trait onto Alcide's sheet within all his feats, subject to approval. |

Classically Schooled trait... approved. As well as all the +1 to one skill/always a class skill traits.

Dropping in to note I got the PM. Glad to be here.
I played Dwarf Fortress... Sometime like Summer of 2008 to October or so of the same year. Then all the hubbub about the big update, and I decided to put it down for a while. Cue DF2010 coming out in... Well, yeah, and I still haven't gotten back into it. I do occasionally poke around the forums there, though. And since when do dwarves need something as useful as beer? I thought the traditional life-risking treasure was an x pigtail sock x. I'll start workin' on my charsheet and hopefully will have it done by late Wednesday or Thursday. EDIT: A-whoops looks like I had actually done a lot of the legwork! All that's left is non-combat gear and a trait. I'm debating between Rough and Ready and Iron Liver. More flavorful than a plain ol' +1 skill or save one (though Suspicious for Sense Motive as a class skill is tempting from a numbers standpoint, not so much from a flavor standpoint). My main misgiving is Rough and Ready would be highly unlikely to come into play, but stabbing someone with a pitchfork might be worth it.

Hey guys! Also just dropping in to say hi and that I got the PM. Working on getting my character sheet up...looking at Carefully Hidden as a trait for Gabriel, let me know if you approve Prometheus..
Other than that, can't wait for us to get started!

@Owen: Either works fine.
@Fiyero: Normally, I'd think that a little strong, but you've already established yourself as somewhat unwanted. ...I'll allow it, but know in advance that if you pick the trait, since it specifically mentions you being a member of an unpopular group, I'm going to make sure that's reflected in-game.

I'm designing my character sheet.
in the PF SRD, I found the Artificer base class described. It's not core, but it follows my plans for what I want Jak to do eventually. Would you be open to A) allowing the use of that class, described here, or B) allowing me to change my base class from Transmuter? If Artificer won't work, Transmuter will work fine; the Artificer will simply work "better". EDIT: I posted that before reading the full class. Never mind; the Artificer listed is too convoluted and confusing to explore right now. I should have my sheet finished tomorrow. Last edited by Aosaw; Jun 2nd, 2010 at 10:00 PM. |

Seriously.
I liked the concept of it, and I especially liked how it changed things from the Eberron Artificer. But there's just not enough information there to be playable - and from what I've heard about the book it comes from, that's more or less the case in general. ![]() Question: is the Additional Traits feat available for us to use? I have a couple of traits that I'm interested in (Hedge Magician and Theoretical Magician, specifically, as well as Heirloom Weapon for my hammer), and nothing else in particular I want to use my feat for. EDIT: Character sheet, 1.0, is posted in the characters thread, along with my application. Last edited by Aosaw; Jun 3rd, 2010 at 02:47 PM. |

Believe my charsheet's done - I'm actually surprised to have a fair bit of gold on hand. Mostly went for 'fluff' items - Brom looks like he's going for a camping trip, not to save the world - 'cause I don't think he'd be the type for any of the cool stuff. I suppose that does fit with his backstory of being fairly successful and having had a windfall in his past.
Yeah, the Tome of Secrets seemed pretty shoddy when I read it, and the artificer in particular was all sorts of wonky. I did like the concept, though. This conversation also makes me think of this, for some reason .

Hmm. . .noticing the gods involved. At the moment I'm just noticing a need to add Saranrae which since he don't have a sun deity yet should be fairly easy. Just a question of incorporating her into the mythology. Facil's Sister?

The trouble I saw with the Artificer was that there was no listed cost or limit to the inventions you built; it seemed to be just a matter of spending the time. If that issue could be resolved (and not in a crazy absurd quadratic-equations sort of way), I might be interested in giving it a shot.

For the moment, the Artificer is more holes than class, so I'm going to have to say no, but if someone manages to patch it up, I'll definitely reconsider reconsidering.

Trinity, you can actually edit the link for your character sheet into your original post. At the bottom of every post you make is a button (aptly labelled "EDIT"); just click on that, and a box will appear that lets you revise your post.
That should cut down on some of the clutter, I think. |

Still need sheets from Fiyero and Aosaw, but otherwise, everything looks OK. A bit busier than I anticipated, but the game thread should be up some time this weekend.
