Yeah, it's pretty easy to split the rolls. If you have Wits 3 and Lore 2, simply write "3d6 2d6" in the dice tag. You can string it on for as long as you need to, so if you also had +2 Gear Bonus and an Epic Artifact, you'd write the tag as "3d6 2d6 2d6 1d10".

Hey, stealin is Oniver's job.

I still want to tweak a few things (like adding text-in-text for the Conditions and such), so you may want to wait until later tonite when I do that. Unless you don't care!

P.S. HotsuKama's char-sheet is really nice too. Would definitely be easier to edit.

Effete, Chylopan, HotsuSama, thanks for popping your characters into the repository!

psuedenim, your cheeky magic wielding Goblin looks great! Effete is right that you only have 8 points for skills, so once that adjustment is done pop him into the repository too

DBCowboy, Phol is looking nice! When you're happy, drop the group's hunter into the repository as well!

Given that the characters are pretty much done, I've opened up the IC thread https://www.rpgcrossing.com/showthread.php?t=222472
We can work on relationships and stuff at the same time

Only a few days since the mist lifted, ey? Okay, I don't have time to write it now but I think I already know the trajectory of things. After all, who in this village would be odd enough to have camping equipment like a large tent available right away when the Blood Mist has all but locked down having a nice camp by the fire for generations? Oh ... that thrice-damned swindler Oniver, for one. Guess Stahl's gonna be doing some sucking up.

I recommend Stahl Lead the Way and Phol can Scout. Think those 2 have the highest stats in relevant skills, plus talents to help as well.

Agreed.
I'd like to do a few character-interaction posts before we head out, though, just to get everyone aquainted (both IC & IRL). Naturally, it'll help if the characters know each other's strengths and weaknesses, and I also found it helps to see peoples' individual writing styles before getting down into the nitty-gritty.

Okay, this might be a dumb question... the Foraging rules state that a success allows all player-characters to fill their Water to d12. Since Kiersap is right on a river, couldn't we all just start with d12 Water?

I know, I know! This defeats the spirit of the rules. But the "logic klaxons" are blaring in my skull. I can't help it.

Trying to get to grips with Goblins, FL and the mists and how my background should be written. I get the impression that Goblins are already living in the village so maybe I am just treated suspiciously by other Goblins rather than being banished from an enclave in the woods somewhere.

Goblins seem to live in woods and caves, run in the night etc. but how does this tally with the blood mists appearing every night?

Do the mists avoid large populations?
Do Goblins sleep in trees?
How does this work in underground caves etc? Do the mists appear from all sides or just the floor and rise up to ground level thus 'flooding' the cave?
Are villages homes built on stilts?
If light is a key defense then how much coal and wood is left in the world?

EDIT

I will worry about this as the game progresses and get a IC post up later today. Just gonna go with a generic edge of Goblin society type

Hi psuedenim! FL is not without its inconsistencies and plot holes, especially regarding the Blood Mist We could say something like in the old days, a few tribes of goblins and even a halfling community lived in the vague vicinity (there are dark forests around here somewhere, and indeed perhaps a cave near the mountains). They might have used the village back then as a means to buy and/or steal things they need etc. When the mists hit, these tribes moved closer, living on the outskirts of the village proper or something.

Goblins seem to live in woods and caves, run in the night etc. but how does this tally with the blood mists appearing every night?

Run in the night not too far from home, and all is well.

Do the mists avoid large populations?

It seems so, that safety in numbers increased survival rates, around here at least. Who knows about outside the village lands though... guess we'll find out

Do Goblins sleep in trees?

That's up to you. Why not!

How does this work in underground caves etc? Do the mists appear from all sides or just the floor and rise up to ground level thus 'flooding' the cave?

We can say that a reasonably sized gobbo population in a cave would keep the mists at bay, or if the secret cave isn't too far from a larger village, it benefits from the same protection.

Are villages homes built on stilts?

Probably not... but there might be exceptions out there.

If light is a key defense then how much coal and wood is left in the world?

Lets explore and find out hehe!

Hope this helps a bit.

Haha nice pickup! For the start of the game, lets just say that everyone's resource dice for water is a reflection of how much attention they paid to collecting water before meeting up.

If you all want to forage to get the D12, you can certainly do that. It will cost you a full quarter of a day though. Silly I know... but perhaps it isn't as easy as just dipping the waterskin in the river. There might be a town well, but there's always a queue to use it, or for the river you have to walk upstream a fair way, because Immelda has been caught numerous times washing her clothes and bathing in there! Perhaps there are blooms of algae too which are best avoided.

Its up to you lovely folks to decide. Delaying the hike in order to collect water could be very wise. Or... if something happens on the journey that slows progress... then in reflection you might wish you'd had that extra quarter to travel... fate and the dice will decide hehe.

If it was me... now that you've brought it up, I'd probably be foraging this quarter TBH... but then again...

No doubt. I wasn't seriously asking to start with d12 Water; I was just pointing out how sometimes games can be silly. It's totally fine to start the game as-is, then have one character Forage for Water when we break for camp the first night. No problem at all.

Well, you almost never want to drink water straight from a pond or river. You always want to boil it first. Even springs and well-water can have pollutants that are best avoided (arsenic was a big killer back in olden times).

Anyway, if others want to "top off" their canteens, I'd be ok with that, but then our day would kinda be borked. Per the rules, it would only require one person to fill everyone up, correct? I don't see why everyone needs to make a roll, especially when the river is... right there! Someone else can hunt and another can forage vegetables to boost food supplies.

Honestly, I don't think it's necessary.
