Haha, ok... I'll just summarize before I post. The tanner is trying to negotiate with the goblin, had has offered him a somewhat damaged vest (armor rating 1) for 3 silvers. Note: leather body armor is usually rating 2 and 4 silvers, so although it is discounted, it is worth more like 2 silvers. Our friendly goblin decided to haggle, and though he had to really push himself and try hard, he rolled a success! Our mate Gerrok tried to explain his reasoning for the price, and looked to really be suffering in the process. He was successful too though, but also quite rattled. It ended in a mexican standoff. But! Gerrok how has two options. A rating 2 vest for 4 silvers, or the rating 1 vest for 3 silvers. But then, ol' mate Oniver, bless him, decided to negotiate on the goblin's behalf. (Usually we'd make this a "help" dice, but we're just having fun and warming up, so lets make this a new contest) Oniver pushes hard, as this Gerrok is a tough talker, and finds the experience rather painful on the brain actually. Oniver got a success though, but so did Gerrok. A standoff again! This negotiation is going nowhere lol. The result? Hemdan can have a rating 2 vest for 4 silvers, or the rating 1 vest for 3 silvers.

Rating 2 - I think and extra 1 silver for that bonus and longevity is deffo worth it.
So Snares + Vest = 5 Silver leaving me with 2 Silvers. I am also happy to get moving and trust to the land to provide, nomadic nature of a Goblin is pushing as well as the over-confidence of youth

Man, that stingy dwarf REALLY wasn't budging over that 1 silver coin. He nearly broke his brain trying.

@Effete: Dwarves hey - what you gonna do with that kind of stubbornness.
@97mg: Can I use my Lore to determine what might be to our North that is of interest to me and/or the party or just provide something to roam towards. Also do we get to see further hexes if the terrain allows, like up a mountain or by a lake or sea? TBH I would be curious about what caused the mists to clear - something new and powerful and possibly sorcerous or something sorcerous that no longer works. Sounds like sorcery and thats appealing to my character

Yey for the opening posts!! I won't interrupt the IC thread at this point, and will wait until your hike direction is locked in
![]() @psuedenim: That sounds like a very clevery goblin thing to do! I've left the hexes around the village visible because they aren't totally unfamiliar. You kind of know what terrain is in there. There are no specific rules about seeing further from high points on the landscape, but if the team creatively tries to get better vantage points during the game, I'm happy to reveal more distant hexes, or half-fog them. A lore roll is fine to do! I look forward to it ![]()

Okay folks,
Per the opening story post, the hex to the NE is Open Terrain. That means we can travel two hexes in a Quarter Day. If we're following the river, we could go NE, then North, and setup camp during the evening (I'm assuming it late morning now, so by the time we leave, it'll probably already be day). |

Maybe wait and see if Hemdan's Lore roll gives us extra info about the north before we commit?
This is for the 'Morning Quarter' which is the first part of the day. So we'd still have the 'Day Quarter' free after this initial hike before having to worry about making camp.

![]() As for which Quarter this is, I guess I just assumed we all spent the morning getting ready, but you could be right too. @97mg, any insight on this? |

@97mg
A couple questions regarding Activities: It's clear that only one character may Lead the Way, or Keep Watch, but can others Help that character? It's not explicitly stated one way or another in the quickstart guide. Other activities, like Hunting and Fishing, are more explicit, saying that two people can't roll for the same location, but one may Help the other (adding +1d to their roll). I'm just not sure if the lack of an affirming statement on the matter is proof of a disqualifying one. In other words, since the book doesn't explicitly say that characters CANNOT Help with Lead the Way or Keep Watch, is it assumed that they can? I mean, more eyes watching for danger is obviously better, right? Or is this another one of those times when the rules are designed for challenge-of-play, and not verisimilitude? @HotsuSama - ahhh I might have missed the reference to the mountains to the West and South as character background instead of a desire to travel that way. I'd be happy to have my Lore roll suggest something that way too. Let me get the IC post up and I'll word it accordingly.

Good Morning! Hehe.
psuedenim: Dice double success on that Lore roll! I'll give you some juicy morsels shortly ![]() Quote:

Another thing on my mind is our Rider and how he can move an extra Hex per quarter in open terrain. I haven't GMed a party that didn't always stay in the same hex together so we might have to see how it plays out... perhaps we let Stahl decide. He could lead his own way into a new hex on his own sometimes, but wouldn't benefit from anyone keeping watch... unless he had a passenger? It could boil down to strength in numbers vs knowing what's on more of the map...
