Many people enjoy the point buy method, but I usually feel disappointed no matter what I end up settling on. I also like rolling for them, but then it feels imbalanced due to huge differences in character power.

My favorite way to do it is choose from a small variety of preset number sets, and then slot them in.

I'll probably decide to do that for this game unless there is wide-spread rioting.
It'd probably be more fun to let people have more traits rather then less. Whether that's ok balance-wise I don't know, but traits usually aren't that powerful.

Also I could go for either point buy or arrays, but I'd rather not roll.

So you both would be O.K. if I said "You've got a 16, a 15, a 13, an 11, a 10 and a 9?"

Something like this is what I would do:
Quote:
Spike Set
17, 13, 12, 12, 12, 9
Quote:
Slope Set
16, 15, 13, 12, 11, 9
Quote:
Balance Set
13, 13, 14, 14, 13, 13

Cool. Glad to hear it.

I like giving you odd numbers so that at level four you really feel like you've increased a stat, and so on. Plus, it pads my rebel ego, and I've got a huge one of those.

right, however you only need 1 fairly large odd stat for that feeling. that 9 for instance probably isn't really going to be upgraded at all, even by level 20, and the 11 is also unlikely.

I've never really done too much with traits myself, so no opinion there. I like point buy, but I sometimes like to use the 2d6+6 method. I used 25point buy for my game, then had my players roll 4d6x7, drop lowest die in each set, drop lowest set. 2 got the equivalent of 24 point buy, 2 got a bit lower, 1 got WAY lower and 1 got the equivalent of a 35 point buy...

Slope set looks good to me too.

I like 4d6x7. I like the gamble.

Slope set will be fine I think though, everyone will have an 18 (or a 17 and a 16), maybe more if non- human. And we won't be starting at level 1 anyway, anyone can make those numbers work.

Having glanced through some of the traits, all characters should probably start with inoculated, just on general principle.

Slope looks fine to me!

Yes. You are. You're allowed to say pretty much anything.

Unless it's about me. Then you have to submit it to the ministry of truth, first.

It's already working... Hehahaha!

I'll wait a few more hours to update. I'd like to hear from the expats.

Hey, Unca, sweet detail about the addons from Jimmy. I wouldn't have thunk it.

heh, I was just thinking, why would the tunnel be hidden unless it was secret... why would it be secret? THEFT! Either that or a hidey hole for a kidnapper
