never mind. I found Grenadier's post that has started a lot of this info.

Thanks, Grenny!

No problem. If I misses anything, link it in the mechanics thread or just copy/paste Fil's houserule and I'll try to add it to the list.

I cleaned up all but one of the Trailblazer tables yesterday. That should make it a little easier to pick through your characters. I'm going to try to clean up some of the skill descriptions today, fix some broken code.

Question: technically, we have a feat at 21... is this just another "normal" feat/classfeature, or because we cross level 20, we now do "epic" feat?

I believe normal feat progression stops at your 6 HD, so no feats for 9-18 or 21 either I don't believe.

I hope Grenny is right about the epic, because epic feats can turn simple things into holy terrors, sometimes.

My build is complex enough, without mind warping the laws of the universe with an epic feat.

as for the other feats, good point. I'm gonna need to understand that aspect better: Do we just get a couple feats up to 6th level, and then no more feats? Feats are the other "levels" from 7 to 21? Feats at every 3rd "level" from 7 to 21? Hmmmm... which is it? Makes a big difference to some builds.

And, while we are on the subject, do we get ability score point every 4th as we progress, or just the first one at 4th level?

A normal feat every '3' levels would bump up the power level of characters a little, but with the ability to qualify for and pretty much cherry pick any class / prc you want, I don't think it's something that would push anything over the edge. It allows for a bit more creativity in builds and lets people feel like they are progressing.

As it stands now, I hate looking at my next 'level' and thinking I have to choose something like Weapon Focus instead of more War Blade or Barbarian or Hulking Hurler.

My understanding is that we're all 6th level characters. 6 HD. We get feats at 1, 3, and 6, with a +1 ability score at level 4. The "levels" beyond 6 are placeholders for advancement. You can choose a class level to gain class features, but the components of true additional levels like bonus feats and more +1 to ability scores are NOT something we get.

Note that you can use a "level" to gain a feat, if you wish, but that if you'd like 2 feats from that mechanic then you might as well take 2 levels of fighter to open up another potential path for class feature advancement, etc.

Hope that helps! It is fairly complicated, but very nice once you figure it out. Our characters feel epic, but unlike a normal level 20 game we can miss if we swing at something, or we can fail an actual saving throw, or die if something hits us pretty hard. It feels heroic but balanced.

If SA is right (and he may well be... i think he might be), then my build isn't going to work as is.
I need more feats to get where I was going.

So, back to the drawing board!

Dead on the money, Alex. we only attain 6 HD, so bab, save, caster level, skills, feats, stat acquisition stop at 6. ...which is also why we are limited to 5ECL of templates.
the additional levels we obtain are layered over the same 6HD of levels to gestalt with the other previous taken classes. .. so no extra feats.
the levels you obtain can be spenton a class level you qualify for, or a straight up feat you qualify for... spending "levels" on feats may be necessary to attain new PrC's... also, capstone abilities and modifications are usually paid for in "levels" as well, much like ECL pays for racial abilities too strong for level 1 characters.

I think under the Extra Feats section, here.

At one of the five different websites that contain our game rules.

Fil, can you eye the Witch class from pathfinder, and rule on potential for inclusion?

It has some interesting spells and hexes that could work with a fear based necromancer. Just curious if I could consider it in the build, or should move on to warlock or something else.

Hey gang. I know I've been fairly quite and I'm happy to see the game threads buzzing with activity. I've been busy, but I'll be putting up a revised build for my character sometime tonight.

While Zor seems pretty brutal, I'm also pondering a revamp based on warforged.
