“See to your wounded, Kalash, and prepare your ships,” the captain said, “Wait for further orders.” Ward started to dismiss the hobgoblin with a gesture of his hand, but he stopped. “Say, how did you come across the slave girl?” he asked, always one to be mindful of little curiosities. The captain took a long draw on his pipe. “Now then, Master Daergel, I'll caution you to not underestimate the spellstorm. We were a might lucky on this occasion. Perhaps by way of some blessing from your gods, little saint, in face of our stand against dark magic.” “As for the witch's council,” Ward said as he stood, almost as if he was claiming a bit of territory, “There's a ring of truth to it, and I'm afraid that The Breeze paid for our zealous natures, although I will remind her that I will captain this vessel as I see fit.” His tone was harsh, and his eyes possessed a hard look. “No doubt our reckless bloodlust put a fair scare into these Marguul,” he added as he cracked a smile behind his pipe. Although meant mostly in jest, although there was no doubt some ring of truth to his words. “Perhaps you should see to Marius and Rhoma, Brunner,” Ward said after contemplating the matter, “I'll fetch a ride with Aribel, and if necessary I can find my own way back.” That was all he said of the matter, as he was still brooding over the issue in the back of his mind.

The Marguul Commander looks sidelong towards the girl rocking slowly in place as men try to comfort her with a blanket and warm drink.
"My ships, my crew are yours, sir... but that girl is evil. You should have let the storm claim her...." End of Chapter 1
