[Game Thread] The Encampment

Basementicus goes into the next room where his dad is and gives him a big hug.

"I'm keeping this dart, by the way."

[Valistar]

The old man grumbles something under his breath as his adopted son hugs him. "Typical. Comes home and is already stealing my stuff. Keep it, I've got plenty more where that came from." It is easy to tell from their movements that despite being as old as they were, they had been quite the adventurers in their time. But the half-elves had grown old and unable to adventure anymore, but they could still be a force to be reckoned with if attacked. "I suppose I may as well give you the whole set. They aren't magical, but they can be loaded with poison if you can get your hands on some. I can tell you aren't really out here to see us. You are headed on some mission or something aren't you boy? Probably off to them damned wastelands on some fools errand. Just do me a favor and stay away from the ravens. Maggie can fix you up if you deal with them and might even have something for you to take with just in case... Still, I'd steer clear of them. I'd steer clear of anyone with a raven symbol too actually, though most of them aren't nearly as dangerous." Sergi had stopped sounding like an angry old man for a bit and spoke with a little more concern for his adopted son. He really did care, he just had appearances to keep up.

[Aarroun]

"Ribbon!" Exclaims Reynard, gathering her up in a bear hug, "Good to see you again. My friend and I were looking for information on the wastes. Any maps and books or scrolls detailing the flora and fauna in the area."

[Explosionguy]

Checking the box of chambered darts, the drow exclaims with glee, "Ooh, vintage!"

Then upon remembering the ravens, he remarks, "Yeah, I heard about the ravens in Lartran. There was a bulletin up offering a reward for each raven slain. Before that, a half-orc fellow advising us from the mercenary camp warned us about their ability to sap their victims' strength. I didn't hear anything about a group with a raven standard, though. Are they some kind of crazy cult, or something?"

sizes up the librarian, bowing slightly saying "I am pleased to make your acquaintance, was the name Ribbon?"

Standing upright again, Angarato asks "Do you happen to know anything about Raven activity in the area?" While in Lartran, we noticed a bounty board offering a reward for kill trophies. That struck me as a little odd unless there is a problem of ravens leaving the wastelands. Also, do you know of any books that discuss the history of a library that used to exist in the region that is the wasteland now? I've recently learned of a dwarven expedition in some ruins and would love to learn more about their exciting work"

[Valistar]

"Huh, at least they are trying to get rid of those damned birds. I'd be out hunting them myself if I wasn't so old now." Sergi responds with a snort. "The Cult of the Raven has been around for centuries now. Every couple decades some group of adventurers seems to wipe them out and then a couple decades later they pop back up again. Usually the cycle is long enough that the humans often don't recognize it, but the longer lived races do. I still think that cult was responsible for burning down that shop a while back."

Maggie starts working on something different now. Based on the ingredients you suspect that it is something that will be baked. "I'm going to make you some cookies to take along on your trip. If you are going to be dealing with Ravens, these cookies will help clear out the nasty things they do to you." As she is mixing the ingredients together she casts a spell on the mixture.

[DraconigenaArma]

"I feel your parents are more capable of doing our job than we are. You two are most accomplished adventurers." Thomas comments.

[Explosionguy]

In reply to Thomas, Basementicus says, "They've certainly had their fair share of quests of one nature or another, so it's our turn now. They've told me many stories of their exploits."

"And about that shop you mentioned? The other friend of mine coming over had worked there. He was put out of a job when it burned down. If we happen to run into those crazies and it turns out they were responsible, he might be hankering for some payback."

Basementicus catches a whiff of the cookie dough. He licks his lips and says in elven, "heh heh heh, bueno."

[Angarato]

Angarato reads the books he has located with great concentration.

[Valistar]

"That we have kid, that we have. We have gotten too old to travel anymore. I can't imagine we have very many years left in us as it is. But that doesn't mean we can't put up a good fight when we need to! I may have the eyesight of a bat now, but I can still hit a bulls-eye at two-hundred yards. Where are the rest of your friends boy?" Sergi brags. "So... stoner guy... I still don't know your name. What is it that you do? Maybe I've got something running around here that might be of use to you." He looks around the room as if attempting to remember something.

"My name is Thomas Mallory, I am an archaeologist and burgeoning adventurer."

[Aarroun]

After a couple hours, Reynard thanks the librarian and prepares to depart for Basementicus' home.

[Explosionguy]

When Reynard arrives at the house, Basementicus opens the door and greets him.

"Back from the library, eh? Come on in, my parents are just getting dinner ready."

[DraconigenaArma]

"And cookies." Thomas chimes in from where he's admiring an artifact upon the wall.

[Valistar]

"An archeologist huh? I hear that job is far more exciting than it should be. Traps everywhere and undead and constructs guarding things. Can't be an easy job. Might have something to help at least a little bit..." The old half-elf stands up slowly and makes his way over to the wall between the living room and bedroom (which is quite thin) and opens it up. There is obviously some sort of magical storage hidden in that wall as you can see about 5 feet into the storage. Sergi reaches in and pulls out a Mithral Shirt and tosses it to the Archeologist. "It isn't magic or anything, but it is light and should help protect you from most mechanical traps. Might have something for the others once I know more about them."

After Reynard and Angarato appear Maggie turns to address them. "Ah, more of your friends? Would you introduce us?" Maggie asks with interest while taking a moment to look each one in the eye. She continues cooking. From the smell of things, dinner should be ready shortly and cookies will get put in the oven shortly. Her wolf friend takes a moment away from working in the kitchen to smell Reynard, likely just smelling the spellcasting components that mages tend to carry.
