"Welcome to boot camp. This tutorial will show you how to create a kingdom character sheet, How to play War of Kingdoms, and how to include as much role play as needed to have the fun you want to have.

To start off you see there is a table and a Table legend. This is your map and the legend will translate this map for you. at this point of time your map availability is very limited. Also at this time you only have one unit. This unit has already been created for you for training purposes. This Military unit is a Human Knight. This unit is referred to as your commando because he is a couple levels higher than the rest of your army to be purposely better than the average unit. This is because unlike the rest of your army you are not bound by PHB for its class and can choose its class from any WOTC material. Also you can only have one commando at a time so that it is impossible to dominate a map with a bunch of commandoes. We will go more in detail when we get to creating the commando.

To start off on your training try to gain some more coverage on your map you should start by moving your commando. Remember PBP is an art so instead of just moving your commando do it with style."



The Man geared for war proceeded deeper into the dark forest in hopes of finding his enemy so he can show them the fate that they deserve a fate in the nine Hells.

The commando, check his gear before adventuring out. He packed light for this trip because speed and mobility can be the deciding factor when exploring. Wanting to have the sun at his back, he leaves at first light and heads to the 5-04West.

I have start on my Kingdom app/stats.

"Very good now to stop the oversizing of maps not all squares will be 5 foot squares. For clarifying who is in what square will be determined by the map key and can contain up to two characters in each box. Now to move things along your commando Human Knight has come across a clearing with a dozen Commoners and a pile of resources."

Attention: The commoners is now under your control
Attention: You have just collected 1k Gold Pieces.

"In order to construct a base you must have a building crew. In order to have a building crew you must have an HQ. In order to build an HQ you must have a commando. Only the Commando can build an HQ and does so with a team of commoners that then become the building crew for the HQ you have just constructed. Please feel free to instruct your commoners to build an HQ now. Feel free to even add some more flavor by adding in what is said or done when the commoners fall under your command. Remember when your constructing a role playing post the imagination is the limit and be sure to be detailed for a good post."


OOC: Not like I need to tell you that but once again I am going over everything with this boot camp stuff. Feel free to add input. if you only adding in input instead of moving on with the game like this post does please feel free to use the OOC in the folder that holds this thread.

Upon leaving the “Trees”, the knight observes the open field in front of him. Seeing the common people in the area, the large good land for building, and there is something about the air here, it just smelled like home to him.
This is it, this is the spot where I will make my castle.
First to make friendly with the locals


Moving up to and join the people, he put on his best face.
"Listen up, this is a harsh and dangerous world and we all need to work together in order to survive. As sign that I mean what a say, if you assist me in it construction, I will pay to have a HeadQuarters built. There we can all rest safely knowing we are protected from the dangers of the wild and given time it will become the center of out kingdom."

As he commoner, one by one, join it takes no time and he tent and workshop that will work as their headquarters is up and running.

My imput
List how many Commoner are in needed to build the HQ, I.E. How many are in a crew

Your grid would be better if you changed it to be number columns and letter rows, or vice versa so there is less confusion about which spot on the grid is being referenced.

Considering the large size of the HQ you can have up to 6 additional Commoners helping build the HQ so it gets done faster. If you do this you will still only emerge with a building crew of 6. While we wait on your HQ to be build lets go over some battle specifics. To start with when you on the battlefield you will have a certain percentage chance to have a random encounter. When your in a storyline or mission map some random encounters maybe intentional. Like the once your about to experience now."

OOC: your Commando is a level 3 human Knight with a sword so he has a +3 to attack. stats are currently 13 down the line so he gets an additional +1 from strength.
OOCactually just using wood so its -500 Gold. The other materials are for special missions.

Acting as a lookout and supervisor while the commoner’s work, HK is able to see a wolf leaving the forest, but he is not the only one. Some of the commoners see the creature and stop what they are doing getting ready to run.
Acting quickly, HK speaks the people
"I sad this HQ would make us safer and I meant. Not only will it gives us walls, but you will also have me. I will protect you. Everyone continue working, I will deal with the creature"

Moving forward, HK draws his weapons and charges the creature.
OCC
Full round action: HK charges to attack the approaching Wolf.
Dice Hit:
d20+3 (1)+3 Total = 4
+2 if I get charging bonus
Dice Long sword:
1d8+1 (2)+1 Total = 3
+2 if I get charging bonus
Equipment: I am guessing he would have a Longsword, Heavy wooden shield, and Scale Mail. That is what I would equip at 3rd level fighter with, but we never discussed his equipment so I am just going wit this for now.
His AC then would be 17 (-2 if I am able to can charge)

so do you mean I can used the extra 6 to speed up the build do the other 6 six commoners die/go away when used like this or can they only be used to speed up the HQ (which is why they don’t stay in the build crew) and then when all said and done they return to 6 normal commoners that I can use for stuff?
If they don't "die" for using them then I would used them to speed up the construction of the HQ

OOC: no the commoners do not get used up in helping. When the HQ is finished being built you will still have 6 people as a building crew, 6 commoners and a commando.

The fight is a good one with both not giving an inch to their opponent. The wolf is able to draws first blood but only manages a flesh wound. That first hit is the only blow that the wolf is able to connect. HK figured out the creatures attack style and is able to defend himself successfully until is strike. HK takes the necessary to make sure that when he hit his strike deal 2 of my 3 hits where max (8) and one was close (7)maximum damage.

Once the creature is finally put down, HK collects the body to gives it a place of honor in his new hall. While the crew continues to work, HK returns to his lookout location and begin to skin the creature. Saving and preserving it’s head to be mounted about the door of his new HQ. The skin and fur he turns into cloak that he may wear to keep warm.

Occ
Fight the wolf and Win
Return to guard duty and I don't know if I can do this but it is mostly for style pointsrender the creatures body.


My impute
I really like the fact that you let us roll for both, makes combat go much faster

Can my HK explore some more while the HQ is being build or do I need to say close to guard my commoners?

Reply Input: You can if you want but I am mainly concern with moving this along. Maybe in another map/game you would be able to scout explore but this is boot camp where even the "Random Encounters" are rigged

"very nice you have defeated the Wolf. Now your HQ takes 6 turns to construct (that's 60 combat rounds) now that you have your 6 additional commoners helping you build it should not take that much longer. As always time will be moved forward so the game can be moved along."

"Alright now commander you now have an HQ and 500 gold. An income building takes 250 Gold to construct and any building that trains units takes 200 Gold to construct. You have specific training buildings that trains specific units. You have the church which trains the clerics and paladins, the barracks which trains the fighters and rangers, nature's grove which trains the barbarians and druids, the spy intelligence which trains your rogues and monks, and finally your wizard's tower which trains your wizards and bards. But in order to have and income for you to continue your war plans you must construct an income building feel free to do so now."

Show the men the cloak he is now wearing and the wolf’s head has the HQ, HK walks up to the finished HQ.
"Now we don’t have to worry about creatures like this. We have walls to protect ourselves, but this wall are going to cost gold to maintain and I do not have limitless funds. We should get to work on a saw mill, we have plenty of trees nearby it should keep us in gold for a good long time.

You on the build crew you start on the sawmill, I will have some of the others help you when they can."

Reinforcements have arrived


"Good job comander you are catching on to this war stuff pretty quickly. We are currently going to stop expanding the base to start building your Kingdom Character sheet commander. To start with commander we are going to build your Commando character. Now all your other classes will be from the players handbook but the commando will not be. The commando is supposed to be stonger then any other unit on the battlefield and so therefore starts 2 levels higher than anyone else on the battlefield. Just because the commando is the strongest unit on the bttlefield does not mean he can be overpowering. Now you are allowed to choose any class out there but if you choose a class you know is overpowering please use your commando sparingly you will be able to play with overpowering stuff but if you abuse it you will earn a red mark torwards it and too many red marks will have that class banned from anyone to be able to use. While you are choosing which class choose which race your commander will be. Remember not too many kingdoms are vary diverse in there races and so a resistion of only 5 races have been put on the kingdoms. As an FYI a properly crafted and presented argument torwards the DM may grant ONE TIME excemption. As such as stating that you have elves and humans then asking if you can have half elves as a race and not count torward the limit. So with all that info Feel Free to make your commando now commander."

Question can I make my commander be a core class? Can we prestige?

I was thinking a wizard or a druid? Do we treat out HK has a normal D&D character and level him as such?
In combat is he a truly normal character I.E. spells per day, wildshape, turn undead, ect...?

You can multiclass but just once. You cant be like fighter rogue AND wizard just fighter/rogue or rogue/Wizard. Also i feel there is plenty of classes out there to not do a core class but the reason i let the commando be something other than core is so its not restricted. If you want to go back to core classes feel free.

Also currently your commando is Race: Human Class: Knight there is a D&D class knight if you google 3.5e Knight you will get to see what your playing with now.

And yes the commando is a normal character and does level as such. He is only marker as a HK right now because he is a Human Knight and C would get confusing really fast if it was C comando or C commoner

What do I have for starting money or does that come out of my 500 kingdom money?
