So now the creation process begins. Have you decided your preferred method of stat generation, Id?

I know that you're not using players options spells and magic in character creation, but can we still take wizard/priest spells described in that book?

How do we determine the spells we start with?

How about using the Wizard Spell Compendium?

Do we need high ability scores to qualify for our classes?

Fun question: does a holy sword's circle of power negate an antimagic shell cast by an evil wizard or does the antimagic shell negate the circle of power?

You do not need the scores to qualify for classes or races. Also, I'm going with no holy swords for crusaders, not that it matters since I doubt we will encounter one in this adventure.
Any spell not in the POH, Planescape boxed set and Planewalker's guide, or Tome of magic I need you to ask about and reference where you found it because it's hit or miss whether I have the book. If there are any magic items you would really like to encounter make a list and I will endeavor to sub out other found items that aren't wanted. Everyone gets 2 extra non-weapon proficiencies plus intelligence modifier. You can start with a free 4 known spells of your highest level, 7 of the next highest, 9 of the next, and so on or the max number of allowed spells per level by your intelligence, whichever is lower. You also are considered to have a free duplicate spell book with these spells inside stored in a safe place on Sigil or a world of your choice, in the event that your primary book is lost, stolen, or destroyed. Wizards get bonus spells per day the way priests do, except they use intelligence not wisdom and are limited to 1 spell per spell level, not 2.

That's an interesting question, I'd probably rule the antimagic effect wins out in that case but it's a toughie.

So are those 2 bonus proficiencies in addition to the starting proficiencies that we get for our class? (3 for fighter/rogue, 4 for Wizard/Priest)
Also, my Faction bonus for the Takers is Double Starting NWPs, and no class restrictions. Since I rolled 18 for Intelligence and get +1 for race, this means that I'm looking in the vicinity of 20+ starting proficiencies (if just the 4 I get for class double, it's 16, if class plus Int double, it's 24, with those bonus two, it's 26, if the bonus ones double, it's 28, and with the two I get from levelling up, that's 30 NWP slots), and I feel this may be... concerning? Also, are Spells and Magics NWPs allowed? (I need something to spend my stupid number of proficiencies on) Purple Worm has most of the core 2e books' contents, including the Player's Option stuff Lastly, Mistral's flying harness is leather over a wood frame - I took Engineering so she can design it, would I need both Carpentry and Leatherworking to be able to build the harness myself, or would Leatherworking be sufficient ('enables a character to make... all sorts of harnesses')? Couple of questions for character building. Probably more to come later:
1) For Languages, aside my own tongue, what would you think would come in most handy? 2) How are we handling HP? Max first? Avg half on leveling? Modifed 1/2 HP+1/2 rolls? All rolls? @Ratpigeon - Had no idea we get bonus based on faction! Sweet! What are your sources?

Those 2 bonus are in addition to your starting class ones but are not doubled, neither are your INT ones so it won't be quite as crazy proficiency numbers.
Leather working is enough to build the harness. Everyone starts with racial language and planar trade language, others you need to buy. HP is max at first level, roll after that. If your total hp after all the rolls is less than 1/2 of your maximum potential hp you get half your potential maximum instead.

If you want a nonstandard proficiency let me know which one so I can look it up and make sure it's not too potent. The new wizard proficiencies from spells and powers are ok it looks like, just ask about specifics. I'll have to look long and hard at signature spells but my instinct is to say no on those.
