Yello, I'll have to take a look over the PHB and such as I make a character, I hope you don't mind me taking a little time.

Unfortunately, I think Denarys' motivation is that she is endeared to one of the more 'religious' sorts in the party and thus would search to the ends of the earth at their request. She is more of a simple, straight-forward fighter with a big sword.

Excellent, and I hadn't seen the 'No attribute restrictions per classes' note in the character creation thread so originally I wanted her to be a ranger but didn't have the stats for it so was resigned to going fighter but with that in mind, i will be going ranger.

So, for stats, the basic concept is to put your highest scores in the most important stats, correct?

And how do you add up your armor class? If the lower the AC the armor provides the more protection it gives?

Thanks! My plate is quite full, well two games hanging by a thread; so the only way I could/would possibly join another game would be if it were a DragonLance game, because DragonLance is my favorite and they are as rare as hen's teeth! I'd never pass on anything DL!! And it doesn't hurt having other wonderful peeps included!! BONUS!

If memory serves me correctly:

Essentially you want low numbers instead of high numbers (with Thac0 and AC) like in all other versions. AC in the negatives is better than a positive. (for you)

However, you still want to roll high on dice to hit; that's the same.

Found this lil ditty see if it helps:

Therefore, if your character's THAC0 was 15 and you rolled a 10 you obviously hit an Armour Class five places worse than AC 0. In this case the character hit AC 5. If you rolled an 18 you obviously hit an AC three places better than AC 0. In this case the character hit AC -3.

EXAMPLE:
In a situation where a character with a THAC0 of 15 is fighting Orcs with an Armour Class of 8 (Leather Armour) we would find the following:

DM: Roll to attack.
Player: [Rolls an 11]
DM: What Armour Class do you hit?
Player: [15-11= 4] Sir Headstrong hits AC 4.
DM: You hit.

In another instance the character might roll differently:

DM: Roll to attack.
Player: [Rolls an 18]
DM: What Armour Class do you hit?
Player: [15-18= -3] Sir Headstrong hits AC -3.
DM: You hit.

In yet another instance:

DM: Roll to attack.
Player: [Rolls a 5]
DM: What Armour Class do you hit?
Player: [15-5= 10] Sir Headstrong hits AC 10.
DM: You missed.

Total = 9

17-9 = I hit 8 or higher armor class?
