How is the grid working for everyone, is it easy to track? I don’t intend to use it for every encounters, more the ones that have lots of combatants. |

![]() ![]() As for 2e not sure why but Thac0 had been my nemisis forever, finally though it clicked. I think Thac0 is hard to grasp if you learn other systems first. Anywho, you are not completely alone Art, 2e is one of my least familiar systems but it cannot be to complex as I played in a 2e game for several years via pbp...and if I can manage that, then we're both bound to get through it essentially unscathed. ![]() At least I thought it was until I say a couple characters here, I have obviously missed a few things I was never aware of until now. So learning as I go that is for sure.

For anyone who is curious, this was the planned pitch:
Between East and West, between Earth and Sky, lies the Endless Waste. Barren and desolate, this windswept land forms the barrier between the feuding kingdoms of Faerun and the ancient empires of Kara-Tur. The eternal steppe is home only to the hardy, nomadic horsemen who travel its secret paths. This region, long ignored by its neighbors, is about to erupt in the bloodiest conflict ever to sweep across the Forgotten Realms. Yamun Khahan, Emperor of the Tuigan, has united the barbarian tribes into an unstoppable horde. Already he rules the steppes, from the Cave of a Thousand Gods to the Valley of the Dog-Men. Driven to conquer, Yamun Khahan looks both east and west, and sees a world ripe for harvest. Into this conflict, you arrive. The mountains rumble under the thundering hoofbeats of forty thousand barbaric horsemen. You find yourselves in the middle of their path. There is no choice except to flee. Your journey takes you into the forbidden kingdom of Ra-Khati, a land of ancient mysteries and untold wealth nestled deep within the Katakoro Mountains. As honoured guests, you are invited to partake of its extravagance. Wealth, power, romance - anything can be yours for the asking. That is, anything short of your freedom! However, when invaders threaten the Hidden Kingdom, you are given a chance to earn your liberty. The Dalai Lama entrusts to you the task of escorting a spoiled princess and her dowry, a ferocious black stallion, to a nearby kingdom as a bribe to stop a war. Easy enough, you say? Perhaps it would be, except for the small fact that inbetween you and this kingdom are forty thousand bloodthirsty riders and a vengeful purple dragon. ~~~ There are those who say that absolutely anything can be found in the Hidden Kingdom. Power, wealth, romance, it is all there for the taking should one know where to look for it. They are probably right. In the Hidden Kingdom, anything is possible. Please, sit down and make yourself comfortable. What you are about to embark upon is a journey that will live on inside you to the very end of time itself. What you are about to embark upon is a tale as old as the land itself. A tale of the mystical land between east and west, a land as mysterious as it is beautiful. A land of delicate cultures forgotten amidst the more "civilised" heartlands of Faerun. This is a tale of beautiful princesses, a tale of heroes in shining armour. It is a tale of unspeakable evil and ancient artifacts. It is a tale of vengeful dragons and undead sorcerers. You will experience many things on this journey. You will be pushed to the very edges of your limits and beyond in the name of liberty. You will battle fell wizards, do battle with the living dead. You will face down a horde of barbarian warriors head on, flee angry dragons. You will find true love and lose those dearest to you. Yet, more than anything else, you will learn who you truly are. This is the land of the Hidden Kingdom. This is the land between, where the unexpected is commonplace. Now, it is your home and more than anything else, it is a place where you will seek your freedom. Where freedom and destiny will begin to intertwine. Yup, a round was a minute until 3rd edition when the rounds became 6 seconds long.
A turn is 10 rounds |

Yeah, just feeling a lack of confidence, Especially considering the time period for a turn, I guess I can type alot more for a minute worth of actions..I just don't want to overstep or over-act..

@Art: Just FYI - sharing a bit of knowledge.
If you thought rounds were odd. Weapon damage is also funny in 2e as well. You have 2 different damage categories. (S/M = Small and Medium sized opponents) then (L = Large sized opponents) Depending on who you are hitting, you may roll different dice. Example if you use a 2-Handed Sword: If attacking a Hobgoblin (Size M) - you toll d10 for damage If attacking a Hill Giant (Size L) - you roll 3d6 for damage |
