Common World Knowledge

FREKAFreka is situated on the south western coast of The Continent. Protected by a wide bay, the city grew around where the Calterin River meets the sea. This makes Freka a trade hub between goods from the inland to the wider coastal towns and villages. The skyline of Freka is dominated by a pyramid like structure of grey stone, the Academy of the Arcane.

It is rumored that the Academy was built around a source of great magical power and the city grew organically around the site. Today, the academy is well known for producing the greatest wizards and sorcerers anywhere in the continent. The academy is run much like a university, but for those who can afford the tuition, there are unlimited possibilities (or so the stories claim). For those who prefer to learn from the written word, there is a library there that rivals the Great Library of the Spire for both size and the amount of tombs contained within.

The rule of law in Freka is very laissez faire, with the authorities preferring to let people to live however they see fit. As most residents either support the Academy or are alumni, the Council of Headmasters is the de facto leadership of the city.

The racial mix in Freka is one of the most diverse on the Continent, probably a result of the lax laws and preference of arcane skill over physical appearance. This plays out in their rejection of typical racial stereotypes, on average. In addition to Humans, Elves, and Halflings, it isn't uncommon to see Tengu, Catfolk, and all manner of other races.

The downside to this is that those who aren't skilled with magic are rumored to be treated as second class citizens and often looked down upon.

ClimateThe temperature in Freka bounces between warm and hot. The Southern Sea does a good job regulating the temperature throughout the winter months keeping the snow at bay. The regular rain brings greenery to the rocky countryside in the form of shrubs and thin knotty trees. The sparse foliage makes forests something more read about in Freka than experienced. This meager foliage separates Freka from the more barren Akassar to the north.

The climate of Freka is Mediterranean and typically warm. I can expand on this after I get on a computer.

Thanks. Would we know anything about Akassar? Also, if this isn't too big of a request, would it be possible to make some kind of world map?

Yea I've been procrastinating getting a map of The continent. I think I'll get a political map made that might not have complete details that I will continue to fine tune.
