I've seen that most of the games by post I played died because everybody (I also have a strong tendency to do it) posts about what they are about to do without actually doing anything. This happens only to me because I'm retarded, or is it pretty common?

I haven't experienced too many games, but the games I've been in that died seemed to end because we were waiting on something and the momentum gets lost. Now the couple games I was in last spring it happened to be our DM giving up, but it could also easily be the DM who is waiting for the players to do something as well.

As for describing what they're about to do and not actually doing it, that feels more circumstantial. Like as a player I need to strike a balance between contributing something meaningful that advances the story (if not, I don't post because I see that I just wrote a post, and the other players and dm have nothing new to react to) and writing too much in a way that messes with the DM or offends other players (I feel like it would be trouble if I had posted how the entire party walked out to the gardens and greeted Shaine. I don't know what the DM has in store for that first moment).

At least the DM always has the power to just write the next scene, but we as players need to write active posts worth responding to. Keeps it moving and let's the dm get to read something fun in return.

I'm far too new to have seen this, but I might be guilty of it already. ><

Criticism is one thing, outright telling me I'm doing it wrong is another. I knew precisely what I was responding with and you didn't even bother to inquire as to why he wasn't surprised in or out of character. Keep the OOC to this thread, and mind the snappy retorts to things.

I never said you were doing it wrong I said he wouldn't have known I was sneaking. Now, if there was a reason he would have, that is up to you and you would have been the only one to have known that and could have explained or just said there is a reason for it. I didn't tell you, you can't do that, I said that a regular old elf who is concentrating can't do that. There are a thousand reasons he could have said that.

I admit maybe I shouldn't have said it like that, it could be taken wrong. But this shouldn't be an argument, it should have been a quick discussion. I am sorry if you took what I said agressively or in the wrong way, it wasn't meant to offend only as a possible tip, it was an observation based on the facts presented in the thread.
