Well, if we're using the BP rules in ultimate campaign, than we'll have to wait for Pen to tell us what buildings come standard to our districts, as they get damn expensive. (2500 per BP is pretty generous compared to the standard 4000 per, but if we spent ALL of our money on BP, that'd only give us 100. And a single waterfront housing 4 ships costs 90, for example.) Knowing what buildings we have to start is vital, as some buildings provide a one-time 50% discount towards building other things.
Another good way to possibly approach it, would be to make a generic district that is self sustaining, figure out how many BP the whole thing costs. And then give that number to each player and have them build their own district how they want it, using their own money to go beyond the standard allotted amount. But that's just a suggestion. I'm personally going to hold off on the district until last... I've spent half of my money on 12 ships (it's still a work in progress.) |

I'm thinking he'll probably give us each a different "standard" set of buildings to work with.. since while I would need the **** out of some docks and such, someone who's district is all landlocked wouldn't need any.
I'm at the same point, I am holding off on spending any money right now because of that. Once I find out how much everything costs and what I start with, I will figure it out. Know I will need some ships, but not the 12 you're apparently rocking right now. Granted, mine are more security rather than traveling to other lands for stuff. You go out, I let them come to me. Lol We'll probably find out some of this stuff tomorrow along with the district-divided map.

Yeah I'm probably going to have to downsize my fleet before all's said and done. At least by half. Once we all have a better idea what we're working with.

Yeah, thing that I always forget when figuring a ship price? You need to also figure in the salary of it's crew, the price of feeding them, and the sneakiest cost of that I always almost forget is the cost of it's weapon's ammo. Like a light ballista bolt is 10gp and 10lb a piece and a sailing ship has 20; 10 per side... say you fire 5 barrages with your port side? Pow, 500 gold in 15 turns, or 1.5 minutes of combat. Adds up way too quick. Lol

I was expecting it sorta.
I have figured anything like this where we have to solidify the construction of our districts would take a few days before we could really get going. ![]() |

Here is the link. I am leaving it kind of Sandbox, and as I saw in your applications, I can trust each of you to not over do it. You do not have to go into great detail for your initial standing buildings unless they serve a specific purpose. Make sure you list the buildings that serve your district economically and all the buildings that your character is adding. This all will be listed under point 4 in your character write up, and unless it is a hidden structure it should be public.

Fair enough. Suppose I could get more done on my Complete Write Up, but I have The Strain from tonight on DVR to watch. Might go do that and see if there's anything new when I return. Also only like 4 more Sundays until The Walking Dead's new season starts up if anyone here watches that.

EDIT: Pen, can we get a like flat additional price for a building if we want a 10ft wall around it? Not the 20ft castle walls or whatnot, but more like privacy/sorta security walls. Only see city walls there.

Here's an interesting thing to bring up though. I want at least one bank in my land. Thing is, I don't deal in banking, that's Silver's business, right?
Silver, give me 100k of your 1.5m to build it and I will allow one of your banks in my district. (You make money off the bank, I make money of your bank's taxes)... and yes, I am aware a bank costs 70k to build. I might be able to be talked down a bit from the 100k if you're willing to give my character favorable rates when dealing with your establishment. ![]()

The cost per BP was what? 2,500gp? I think I saw that somewhere.
Just wanted to know as I'd like to give my District Capitol Fairford some city walls. As it turns out, having it up against the sea cliffs on one side means I don't have to buy walls for that side? How high would you say the given city wall is under the link? 10ft? 15ft? Last edited by Yuul; Sep 14th, 2014 at 11:44 PM. |
