The Pixie's Kitten

Welcome one and all, to our little revival

You all know me, but introduce yourselves to one another. You're all familiar with each other by name, at least, and that's partially my fault, so keep that in mind.

Thus far, I know we're playing RotRL, and I know we're going for 1/week rate for now. If we do better, we do better, but 1/week is a reasonable standard I can hold myself to.

As for alternate rules and such, I haven't considered too many (I'm fond of background skills, but hate gestalt), so if you feel strongly feel free to suggest some and I'll give it some thought.

Welcome aboard, one and all!

EDIT: Because this info might be important to some, right now we have Azariah as a Ranger, and Kapera as a Skald.

Well, well, well... look what the cat dragged in. Me, of course. I always knew you were a masochist, always coming back for more and more punishment from yours truly. And I aim to please.

Well, folks, lets make this a good one. Runelords 1.0 suffered a hard, cruel death, but there was nothing the doctors could do for her. Ole Sassy had to pull the plug and let her drag out her last, ragged breath. He still blames me to this very day, and rightfully so. So I'm here to remedy that.

Hopefully, he has learned from his mistakes (doubtfully) which is why you are here. No mute metagamers or wet blanket wizards. And I'll try not to get flaky on you lot. 1 post/week is reasonable, with the rare exception that my area gets hit by a major storm... Insurance adjusting and all that...

I'm looking forward to our adventure together. Godspeed.

Sass, Flynn 2.0 is ready for viewing. I even posted 10-Minute BG 2.0. It's a WIP, seeing as I have a few holes to fill in.

EDIT: That's what she said.

Hail Runelord Slayers! (Or is it Runelord stoppers? Vindicators? Prognasticators? Defeaters? Whatever it is this fine adventure path purports to have us all do to the titular Runelords!)

I am LeoByron and I feel as a mouse among giants! I have long wanted to test my mettle (and mayhap my metal) with the likes of the Mighty Sassafrass and the Legendary Azariah! The others I may be less familiar with but I nonetheless trust that I am in the presence of greatness!

I do believe some introductions are in order. I am LeoByron a French Canadian purveyor of communal conveyance with a passion for all things fantastical and philosophical. I do enjoy spinning a fine yarn from time to time, all the more so when the company is as illustrious and accomplished as this ambush of tigers promises to be.

For my character, I have a few ideas though I may end up reviving a character from one of my old tabletop games. I assume RotRL has us begin as level 1 characters?

I have 3 ideas to choose from:

1) Daxis Karpathian the Elven Shadowcaster Wizard (or possibly Shadow Bloodline Sorcerer though I like Wizard better I think)

2) Zenalia Leandaree the Elven (or Aasimaar) Cleric (or Oracle) archer.

3) Raven Knight the too-tall Paladin with a dark past.

I am still relatively new to PF so I need to put my researching cap on and see what fits best with the concept I want. I am mostly a 3.5 veteran and some of these concepts may not translate satisfactorily from their original incarnation.

If some of you have ideas for a character on whose toes one of my ideas might step, I am open to switching my concept to better fit the group.

I look forward to embarking on this fine adventure path with you fine people!

EDIT: I believe my preference will be to play Daxis Karpathian the Wizard but if a more competent player would like to fill this role I am happy to adjust.

As Leo has pointed out the 10-Minute Background bit is a broken link because WotC shut down their forums two years ago; should've remembered that. As such, go here.

I have no strong preferences with the choices, and your preference seems clear. That gives us a Ranger, a Skald (Bardbarian), and a Wizard, for those who care about party balance. For my part, I do not, so to those who do, burden of balance is on you

Turns out he will be an Oracle focused on Illusions into Veiled Illusionist. Trying something new.

No matter what you choose, Sass will find ways to kill us adjust encounters to make things challenging and enjoyable. I like the idea of having a full caster in the group. Just don’t be a Sven. Sven has cable.

Oracle into Veiled Illusionist is a full caster. Daxis will be able to do some BFC, mild buffing, and maybe a smidge of healing. Personally, I find dedicated healers to be a waste of space in a group. Knocking mofohs out works better for damage mitigation.

Absolutely agree. Treantmonk wrote a wonderful piece on wizards and battlefield control. Better to shape reality and make encounters easier for your allies than be the party Band-Aid. Plus, in Pathfinder a CLW wand is a pretty cheap investment. Can't wait to learn more about your Oracle.

Hey, Sass, we had an oracle in our party for what? 2 posts maybe? Maybe he specialized in disappearing.

I reread the Veiled Illusionist and now I am having second thoughts about this particular path. I didn't realize the Veil that lets him add illusion spells to his spells known only functions for 1 hour per Veiled Illusionist level. I thought that part was permanent but it functions only when transformed into a human.

Oups?

I guess it would still be functional at higher levels but Daxis will not be much of an illusionist until he ascends a bit. I'll look into a Wizard Illusionist and see if I might like that better. Also looking at a Blood Arcanist.

What is the deadline for the character concept?

I currently do not have one, but since I have concepts from three of you, or at least vague ones, let's say let's have write-ups done by Sunday at the latest so we can at least start roleplaying next week (we don't need sheets to RP!). The intro of RotRL suffered from roleplaying constraints last time, so I seek to fix that by adding more time an opportunity on my end.

Gotta say, I love wizards. If I wasting resurrecting Flynn that is definitely the route I would go next. Would me chanting "WIZARD WIZARD WIZARD" be too forward?

What a wonderful name for an OOC chat! And hi folks. I can't wait to see concepts and IC posts written out and the wonderful skills you all have. I am in luck to have Kapera as a player in my Reign of Winter game and Sass as my guide through Katapesh in another game.

I am from Denmark and thus not a native English speaker. These days I find that all the talk is about metric vs. imperial, fahrenheit vs. celcius, first floor vs. ground floor and so on - but really, I don't think length, height or temperature creates much difference in who we are. We're all pretty darn delighted about Fantasy Role Playing Games, are we not?

I am thinking to go with an unchained rogue, ninja or slayer. Unless Sassafrass nods in approval to Dreamscarred Press' Hidden Blade archetype for rogues/Unchained rogues - in which case, that'll sell the deal.

Regarding other rules, I generally think that Dreamscarred Press makes for a much more fun martial game - and for the roguish character I have in mind, especially the feat: Deadly Agility

Pfft HAHAHA!

I am dropping the Oracle idea altogether. Too much of a one trick pony and does not quite fit the concept I want for Daxis. I am now deciding between pure Wizard Illusion specialist and Blood Arcanist (Arcane Bloodline).

The former is more of a classic but since I refuse to roll a Gnome, the Blood Arcanist will boost my save DC's for my illusions and offer me slightly more versatility. I am probably going Arcanist if only because I have never played one and it seems fun.

I totally agree! Path of War is pretty awesome from what I have seen and makes martial classes slightly more on par with the squishies in terms of versatility and fun options!

Well met, DTJ. Looking forward to our many adventures together.

Rogue sounds great. I have yet to explore the unchained corner of Pathfinder, but it certainly sounds fun!

Leo, checked out Arcanist. Looks awesome. I haven't experimented with hybrid classes yet. I've been pretty straight laced seeing as I'm still relatively new to Pathfinder and roleplaying in general. All I can account for are the few games I've played here on RPGX. I certainly enjoy writing though!

A hybrid between sorcerer and wizard. It's about time.

Looks like we have a ranger, barbarian, full arcane caster, and possible rogue/ninja/slayer. Got a lot of bases covered here. Can't wait to see what Kapera's thinking.

I have no issue with Deadly Agility. Give me the day to look over this Rogue archetype and I'll let you know on that front, but from a brief look-over and looking what others say about it, it doesn't seem like it will do much to adjust the game.

I've also finalized our fifth and final player, LittleBlueNA. Blue birds all around.
