A few things to consider when applying.

1. You will be dealing with various Human, Dwarf, Elf, and Gnome governments on one side and a massive gathering of Orcs, Goblins, Hobgoblins, Gnolls, Half Orcs, and Hill Giants on the other side. SO, you need to think about people with a lot of language skills.

2. Diplomacy is going to be important, but also have to figure how to get two stubborn sides that have animosity towards the other for hundreds if not thousands of years. Have plans on how they can compromise.

3. IF everyone is going to be a race that is not Orc, Half-Orc, or one of the races on the monster list previously mentioned. How do you plan to parlay with their leaders? It is possible, but there will still be friction if that is the case.

You all will have to deal with a lot of disputes, grievances, and childish tantrums (yes from adults).

Didn't he say CR+2 or lower? I didn't think that was the same as LA? It's been a while so I could easily be mistaken.

Gnolls I can see on either side of the dispute. Bugbears and Lizardfolk would be kind of difficult to justify neither of the latter two associate with the goblinoids the same way that the green skins do with each other. The latter two also don't go around associating with any of the so called civilized nations either.

CR is in most cases even better than using LA

So is LA part of our level or are we ignoring it? So if we have a LA+2 race are we two character levels for four total? Or are we level 4 regardless?

If you take all of the benefits that the race has for characters, an LA+2 will be 2nd level.

Character Name: Thurrg Greatfang Race: Gnoll Gender: Male Level: 3rd Class: Ranger Appearance: He is tall at over 6’8” with lean taunt muscles. His gleaming yellow eyes belie a cunning mind. His ears are cropped straight, his snout is long with his upper canines extending a little more than normal and looking quite sharp. His brown fur is covered by a chain shirt. Personality: He is friendly but cautious. Not always easy being a gnoll in a human's world. He is levelheaded and calm under stress. Having been on his own for most of his life and especially since becoming a ranger years ago. He tends to care more for nature and its creatures then the human world but knows he must deal with both. If words don’t end an argument, then his sword and bow do.

This is a different character for me, I never play spellcasters.

My vision of the game is that the group work by committee... so when the group can work around the fact that some may be missing (they're assumed to be doing another task) so. The posting rate is because my stories tend to get a faster pace dictated by the players.

Just enjoy yourself, spellcaster can be fun and you can do so many things without using the traditional set of spells that everyone seems to care about.

Not to be a problem but the DMG says a Halfing cannot be a druid or a wizard. I was following the race/class restrictions in the DMG are we not doing that?

I don't believe there are any Race/Class restrictions in 3.5e. What page are you looking at?
