Tentitively done: I might make some changes though. I rolled 0's for friends, enemies, and lovers; should I had a few for flavour or just leave it for in-game? I'm OK either way.
I am still learning how to use this site so I'll just C&P for now and make it pretty later. If anyone knows how I reduce the size of this picture, that would be appreciated. ![]() Character Name: - Jiang Yingyue (Northern Chinese) Handle: - Niú (It's meant to be Niú, or "Awesome", something Niú said a lot when she was young but sometimes gets changed to Niù, or "Stubborn", by her friends when they make fun of her. The non-Mandarin way usually comes out to Niū, which means "Girl"; it's not an insult but Jiang doesn't like it.) Role: - Netrunner Back Story: (note: I'm not sure if there's a Corp in particular you might want me to use so I will leave Corp-specific items vague for now) Born into a life of privilege, Niú and her older sister were groomed by their Father from an early age to potentially rise up the ranks of the Corporate ladder. Niú's sister, like her Father, was very charismatic, able to lead teams and get people to do whatever they wanted to do; the perfect Corporate drone. Niú was more like her Mother; quite, contemplative, and resourceful, always looking to take advantage of any situation that might arise. Niú's Family was very tight-knit and loved each other dearly. During her early schooling, Niú was trained in a 'Leadership' program like her sister but she hated it; too much politics. Against her Father's wishes she took up a demeaning 'tech' course, learning how to manipulate technology and the NET. She was good at it, and had top grades in her class. It's also where she met some people with a dubious reputation and a love of using computers to do unsavoury things. Not long after her 16th birthday, Niú's life changed forever and to this date she's still trying to piece together the details. That night, a strike team arrived at her Family's home in full tactical gear as if they expected heavy resistance. Caught completely unawares, Niú's Father, Mother, and Sister were quickly apprehended and escorted away in a Corporate armoured vehicle. Not too long afterwards while staying at a friend's house, Niú learned that her Father was found Guilty of Corporate Espionage; she found that highly unlikely however as her Father was at best 'average' when it came to technology and he was an Exec, not a 'spy'. Using some of the lessons she's learned in school and on the streets, Niú broke into a data cache and found out only that her Family was exiled immediately after 'The Break-In' with not information on where; it was as if someone wanted them out of the City in a hurry never to be seen again. Since that day, Niú has been plying her trade as a Netrunner, trying to find out what happened to her Family and maybe get them back. Someone within the Corp reached out to Niú, saying they didn't know what happened but that they were a friend of her Father's, and they'd help her out as best as they could. Niú knows nothing of this mysterious benefactor but she understands their secrecy as they're likely already putting their life on the line to help her. Niú has spent her time searching the NET, looking for any information she can find on her Family, selling off what bits of information she can to make a living. An Exec has noticed her work and, possibly as a favour to her Father, helps her out with programs that he can get his hands on. As Niú has gathered a small reputation, a local Fixer has been trying to get her to bring her into her Cadre, but Niú has been resisting their efforts, preferring to work on her own for now... Personality: Niú gives off the impression of the consummate Chinese professional; when she talks to people she always defers to those of higher rank, she is mindful of her station in life, and she is respectful of her elders. However, those who know her understand that this is just her Face; the real Niú wears the Corporate persona on the outside, but wears her wild and rebellious streak on the inside, juxtaposing against the norm of society which tend to wear their wild side on the outside yet are more conservative within. She doesn't care about your breeding, knowing first-hand that being bred into privilege is as likely to make you soft and spoiled as it is to give you a leg-up in the world. She respects those who work hard and earn their Name, not those handed a silver spoon; these are the people she will truly defer to in life. There is a slight exception; she does respect the Elderly; managing to survive until old age might not be glamourous but it should be honoured. Appearance: In an Age where many people, especially Edgerunners, dress as wildly as possible, Niú could not possibly stand out more. She looks like someone straight out of Corporate America except with a slight cyberpunk twist. Where people her age might have wild, multi-coloured hair which changes every minute, Niú's is, well, brownish-black and very plain. Where people her age might have spikey hair, crazy hair implants, or even no hair at all, Niú's is, well, long and straight and quite ordinary. Where most people have some visual implants on their person, Niú has barely anything, preferring to keep a 'cleaner' look. 'Ordinary' notwithstanding, Niú is a fairly attractive young woman of Chinese decent, probably somewhere close to her mid 20's, slightly taller than average with a hint of an athletic build and a well-tailored bespoke look, and a splash of accessories. Character Name: Annette Forrester
Handle-Anodyne Role: Medtech Personality: She tries to be a good person, tries to be kind. People who reciprocate that kindness will know Anodyne as a bubbly, generous, well-meaning girl who's a bit of a gossip and has an occasional interest in the macabre. People who try to take advantage of her kindness learn to very much regret having met her at all. Anodyne, for her money, believes in investing a certain degree of faith, joy, and goodwill to anyone who falls under her care-and she can take it very personally when people don't respect the work she does for them. Appearance: Generally goes with lavender hair, green eyes and greyish skin, though she's known to shuffle things around every other month. She enjoys big coats and short skirts on her off days and wears an armorjack coat adorned with symbols denoting her status as a medic-it never hurts to let people know you're then capable of pulling out the bullet you just lodged in their stomach, should they cooperate. Her tongue is cybernetic and forked like a snake. It used to have a functional autoinjector she could use for a quick seductive sedation-or to just give herself a little high on the downlow. It's been broken for ages, unfortunately. Backstory-Born on a military base controlled by NUSAF, Anodyne found herself groomed her entire life for the battlefield. She didn't mind the violence-it seemed horribly normal to her, and she liked the exercise and the discipline, but she never entirely fit in. Everyone was just so damn stiff! It was suffocating! As she grew older and tested well, she eventually found relief in the medcorp branch of her base. Unlike most of her superiors in boots, the combat medics of The New Harrison Defense Force knew how to crack a joke. They could move about with more freedom, were better educated, and they'd actually smile back at you if they were in the mood. Granted, as she would later learn, they were high basically all of the time, but it was still a nicer way to get through life on the base, and hey, Anodyne liked speedballing adderall and oxycodone as much as the next girl. Of course, a combat medic still sees war. Don't ask Anodyne how many people she's killed! She doesn't know and she doesn't want to try to count. But everyone has their limits, and at one point she was assigned to a raiding operation for a tribe of Motos hiding north of the base in the redwoods. They'd expected a fight, but the pitiful force that met them was anemic and under gunned-something else had gotten to them first, and while they'd survived they weren't ready for a second assault. They barely put up a fight. During the slaughter Anodyne slipped deep into the enemy's flank, mainly to get away from the main assault, and encountered a young man arduously failing to crawl into the seat of a small buggy. She could tell immediately his wounds weren't from her platoon-NUSAF didn't typically bury shivs in people's thighs-and since he was technically a noncombatant Anodyne stitched the young man up . He thanked Anodyne, and then, with a bit of regret, pulled the lever on his buggy he'd been struggling with. A dozen grenades errupted from it's side, rushing past Anodyne and enveloping her entire platoon in choking white flames. In panic and terrified of the smell of burning flesh and the sight of the snow turning black with ash, she brought a fist to the boy's neck. He broke against her desperate strength and she grabbed the wheel of the buggy and just drove. First south, then east, then west, and then, eventually, after many adventures she barely remembers, she landed in Night City. Last edited by RedSun; Apr 4th, 2023 at 09:55 PM. |

Resubmitted for your consideration:
Character Name: Suzanna Kim Handle: Hari-kari Role: Med-Techie Appearance: Standing at 5'3" {1.6 meters}, and weighing in somewhere under 100 lbs, Hari-kari looks like a strong wind could throw her down. But there is a fire in her green eyes that warn others not to play with this little storm. She wears her black hair cut to just a 2 inch stripe of hair down the middle, then comes it over the left side of her face, where it is long enough to mostly cover the perfectly cut scar that runs from her scalp down to her chin. Her naturally tan skin tone barely denotes her heritage, but also allows everyone to see the white healed scars that run along the inside of her forearms, especially those that crisscross her wrists. Personality: (what is your choom like, what makes them tick?) Back Story: Suzanna Kim's family had never been well to do. But growing up, she had no reason to know this. Her mother and father were pillars of their community, their early kiosk had made enough money over the years that eventually they bought a store front on a sidestreet. To little Suzie, this made them rich. She always had nice clothes, and hung out with the better class of children. Sure, there was the occasional robbery. But that was normal in Night City, and was actually a sign that they were prospering. No one held up a kiosk, except deadhead junkies. So when Suzanna enrolled in, and was accepted by one of the best medical schools on the continent, she thought nothing of it. She didn't wonder where the money to pay for it would come from. In fact, the acceptance letter said that the tuition was already paid in full. This should have made her pause. But she was so excited that she immediately signed the bottom line, and sent her acceptance reply back, no questions asked. What she found out later, in her third year, was that her father had offered their store, their home, and everything they owned as collateral. Or if you would prefer a different corporation, we can use that instead.Militech accepted, except they didn't want a store front, or the family apartment. Their reply offer, one that Suze would have noticed, if she had bothered to read the legalese, was Suzanna was now owned by the corporation for ten years after she graduates, with the option to buy back years of her life for §1,000,000/year. This realization threw the young woman into a tailspin of depression, leading to multiple attempts to end her life. All of which failed, obviously, but left their mark physically and mentally. Now, having graduated near the top of her class, she works for the corporation that owns her life. And when she has the choice, she takes the the most dangerous jobs offered. She no longer wishes to kill herself, she wants someone else to do it for her. Other than that though, she is completely reliable and always puts her patients lives first. Lifepath (this will help flesh out all of the above - Please do not roll stats or kit out your character, this will occur once you have been accepted.
