On one hand, yeah, love the exposure and what did seem to be genuine warmth for the event (example: the party scene featuring past Eurovision winners). On the other hand, I think Iceland's true 2020 and 2021 Eurovision star Dadi Freyer (and his facial expression) captured the ambivalence about it perfectly when he finally agreed to perform the Ja-Ja Ding-Dong song. What did you think, Choco? Last edited by bananabadger; Apr 2nd, 2023 at 03:25 PM. |

We had so much fun watching it, the actors and the previous winners. The story was lame ofcourse but we recognized so much of the silliness and everything that makes Eurovision special

That sounds like the best way to watch it (and the entire contest in general)--not taking it too seriously. Come to think of it, that's probably one of the most appealing aspects of the entire event. A contestant who takes their act too seriously will never win.

I'm not a european, and don't know anything about Eurovision except that "Fairytale" came out of it in 2009.
I appreciate it just for that. Fairytale is not my favorite song, but it is a fun song that gets played as a pick-me-up (I am not enough of a music critic/musician to know if it's GOOD, but it is very fun).

My partner and I watch it with a drinking game, there's a few bouncing around. "Pyrotechnics, drink!", "Smoke machine, drink!" and "Up an octave at the end, drink!" all tend to come in rapid sequence
As much as I don't watch it seriously I find it disappointing anonymous judges can completely outweigh a very high popular vote, all the people across the world voting really fits the idea of what Eurovision is |
