Heh, well, you made good on your threat... one short... we'll have to work to revive Rinjo. Or I guess if he's truly out of the game, Luke will be yet another casualty of this ambush.

Aww... thought Murton might have a chance of living... But how're we supposed to guard a man who charges into melee with far more powerful enemies?

Ahh well, Murton could have survived had he been protected but the people in the position too help him didn't, and the one who did, Jon (the npc) was killed, and so Murton is dead. No big effect on my plans, your characters are just out some gold coins and a mildly influential and grateful friend.
As you'll see going further I'm keeping my game relatively unscripted, I mean, I have several ideas for things your characters will encounter and experience in the course of the game and intend to draw upon your character's backgrounds for several of these, but, I'm improvising, I don't have any BBEG that if killed will spoil the game.

Well, Tocar probably could have taken lead investigating the wagons and spotted the ambush, but unfortunately for Murton, Ryn isn't one to question orders, so when he was ordered to take point he took point rather than suggesting Tocar. Ah well...

Is it worth doing a roll-call or PMing to see who is still on board? I don't want to see the game grind to a halt if one or two people have bailed, I think we have a good story started here!

I'm here and ready to continue! I thought about posting again, but I just wanted to give Rinjo and WildKnight the opportunity to post before moving the action forward too much. I know from experience that it's a real chore if you get behind and suddenly you have like several turns worth of time to respond to.
Ryn is probably going to walk a little ways to see if he can get a clear view through the pass, then come back and help salvage. Last edited by Thamewolf; May 16th, 2011 at 07:07 PM. |

I don't know - Rinjo's been offline for a week and WildKnight has been for almost two, but both post on weekdays, so, let's give them some time, I may act for WildKnight to keep things moving, but I'll give them a little more time. I'll post Wednesday.

Whoops! Forgot to roll my dice in the dice thread. My bad. Wouldn't have mattered in any case. We all seem to suck at searching and spotting.

Hey, just to let everyone know, I am leaving tomorrow to go on vacation 'til the end of the month. We're staying at a cabin on the beach, though I am assured the place has WiFi. Regardless, I always like to warn people just in case when I'm traveling, as it will not be my system so it's slightly out of my hands.
I should still be able to post every day (with the exception of tomorrow and perhaps next Sunday), though I won't be checking three times a day like I have been. Just wanted to keep you aware. Feel free to NPC me if the worst should happen, but I don't anticipate any problems. |

Thamewolf - have fun.
Also: I am houseruling, the jars of pitch are each about the size of a mason jar weighing 1 pound, they are made of clay. They can be used like bottles of Alchemist Fire, however it takes a full round action to both light and throw them. They can also be used on ammunition, that if lit, will require it's target make a check against catching on fire.

I am here and I will ping WK and make sure he posts. Sorry about my absence. My family was here for 30 days visiting... they are gone now.

I'm sorry about that Rinjo, I mean I can't empathize because my brother is the only person in my family I really get along with, but I can sympathize.
I didn't mean to give you a hard time, I just didn't know how long it'd before you'd return. And, my Tuesday/Thursday class will pick up next week which means I will be in school for another ten hours a week come then. But, this game, when I'm not keeping the combat maps current is actually really easy to run. And I've been reading about this D&D 'sandbox' style of play, the "West Marches" is what it's orginated from, and I'm thinking of incorporating those ideas into the game. But, what do you guys think? Does exploration interest you guys? Or are you more interested in conflict and narrative?

Hm; provide links?
I do enjoy world and culture creation, and sandboxing (as I understand it, although I'd have to see the links to know if we had the same conception...) but I believe narrative and conflict are essential to keep interest going. After all, the world is but the stage for the characters to play their narratives out on..... |
