Bad time for me to step out of pocket for a while, but I don't have a choice about it. VPA, if you want you can RP my character for the time being.

I will take care of Mayarc while you're gone-
But, I'm going to go ahead and post an advertisement thread to look for some replacements for Rinjo and WildKnight.

This is going to be a difficult fight - take stock of your advantages and your equipment, and recognize you may need to retreat.

Question: What chain of actions/rolls would it take for me to shatter a jar of pitch on this guy, then coat an arrow with the other jar of pitch, light it, and set him on fire (either by shooting it at him or just making a touch attack using the lit arrow as an improv torch)?

I would allow you to coat an arrow and make a melee or ranged touch attack with the jar of pitch as a full round action, while moving up to your speed, or thirty feet.
Anyone adjacent to your target would also be hit with a small amount of pitch, making them more prone to catching fire, i.e. a penalty on their reflex save if they come in contact with a flame. You could then light your arrow and fire it as a second full round action, while moving up to your speed, making a ranged touch attack, if it hits it will deal 1d6 fire damage to the target, causing them to catch fire, taking an additional 1d6 fire damage every round until they put themselves out.

I've recently 'stumbled' upon Ultimate Combat and Ultimate Magic and may be implementing some of the items therein, if you want to, I would allow you 'tweak' your character using these texts, so long as your character did not change significantly.

Yeah, they're pretty nice, though I'm not sure that there's anything in there for this character in particular. Might give a look-see to the feats next time I level.

Hokay, I'm back. Lemme see what's transpired since I've been gone.
I haven't looked through the UC and UM books as of yet. I might be able to do something with my character...or not.

I'm a little confused by that last post .... 'misses Ryn for 10 damage' 'the two of you avoided 20 damage' but 'Ryn is unconscious at -2hp' ...
Did Ryn get hitted or missed? Also ... does Caityl think the creature she attacked was hurt a little bit, or not at all (or can't tell)? Last edited by Gargleblaster; Aug 17th, 2011 at 07:27 AM. |

I agree. I'm confused as to what is going on with regards to Ryn's health.

Oops! I wrote that post while determining the results of the previous round of combat, it should have read:
["1" attacks Ryn and misses, "2" attacks Caity and misses, Eagle Destroys "3",] I initially thought that "1" hit Ryn for 10 damage, not recalling that Ryn was in total defense gaining +4 to AC and that the attack roll while it beat Ryn's normal AC of 15 did not beat his adjusted AC of 19. Ryn took no damage this round, he currently has 8/10 hit points, having lost four but healed two. The pertinent post in the game thread has been edited to reflect this.

I'm going to hold up and wait for Caityl, as Ryn wouldn't want her to be splashed with pitch as well. Question: do we have action points we can use to take extra actions (like an extra move or something) or are they just for bonuses on rolls? It's the flaw of playing so many variations of d20 that I can't remember what exactly does what.

You can use them for several things, listed here http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/hero-points

Sweet! Thanks... ok, so after Caityl moves back I'm going to splatter them with pitch and use a hero point to get the hell out of dodge.
