Heya, Noupatris. This looks quite interesting, and I think could be a good place for me to use one of my character concepts I have floating around. because I've applied to a similar game with one, I'll probably give you the girl for this one. Sorcerer type with a (hopefully) rich and interesting backstory.
This is me officially posting Interest with an app to come, hopefully shortly. |

Name: Rannon Oakhurst
Race: Human (Non Variant) Class: Fighter Alignment: NG Adventure Hook: My People! Faction: The Lord's Alliance Height: 6'0 Weight: 180 lbs Hair: Brown Eyes: Green Age:18 Description: Rannon is a young man with a muscular build, a result of his years of woodcutting. He has long brown hair that falls to his shoulders and a somewhat well groomed beard. His weapons were ones given to him by the town militia and are not the best. His sword has nicks in it, his shield has scratches in it and his armor is a little bit too big for him and has signs of rust and battle damage. Personality Trait:I'm always ready to help those in trouble. I am fiercely protective of friends and family. Bond: I protect those who cannot protect themselves. Ideal:Respect: People deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. Flaw: Because of his small village upbringing, he can be a bit naïve and has a tendency to trust people too easily. Background:Folk Hero Rannon grew up in the small village of Conyberry. The son of a woodcutter, Rannon would sometimes accompany his father to the woods and assist his father chopping wood to help provide for the family. From age 10 to age 16 Rannon spent most of his days cutting wood with his father. When he turned 16, he began training with the village militia, which all boys of his age were required to do. One day, a savage ogre began to terrorize the village and the militia was dispatched to stop the threat. Outmached, but determined to stop it, the militia engaged the ogre. The fierce monster began to lay waste to the militia and several villager were either severely injured or killed until all that remained was Rannon. Rannon was scared, but he also knew he was the village's last hope. He engaged the creature and fought with the ferocity of a great hero. The creature and Rannon fought but Rannon seemed to be no match for the ogre. The creatures club swung at him and hit his shield, knocking it out of his hand and knocking him back. As the ogre hoisted it's massive club for a killing blow, Rannon, with every last ounce of his strength thrust his sword at the monster, letting out a booming battle cry. Before the ogre could swing down his club, Rannon's sword struck the creature right through the head, killing it instantly. Battered and bruised, he returned to the village and informed everyone that the creature had been slain. The villagers rejoiced, and from there on, he was regarded as the savior of the village. In truth, it was just a lucky blow, and Rannon knew it. Not wanting to let the village down, Rannon began training vigorously with the captain of the militia, an elderly knight from Waterdeep named Hurlon. Hurlon imparted his knowledge on the young man and put him through a very strict training regimen. For an entire year Rannon did nothing but train under Hurlon wanting only to be sure that if anything would ever threaten the village again, he would be ready for it. One day, while returning from training in the forest, Rannon returned to his home to find it in flames. A group of men were dragging his mother and sister to a carriage. As the carriage pulled away, two cultists engaged him. Not the unseasoned fighter he once was, Rannon disposed of the two men easily but not in time to catch the carriage. Unable to catch it but still determined to try, Rannon ran after it until he could run no more. The remaining men of the militia, along with Hurlon, arrived too late and they escorted Rannon back to his home. When he returned, the rest of the village was already hard at work putting out the fire. In a matter of hours ,the fire was out. While looking through the house, Rannon found the burnt body of his father, still clutching an axe with a dagger sticking out of his back. Angry and now determined to find his mother and sister, Rannon gathered his things and was about to walk out the door when Hurlon approached him, clutching an amulet in his hand. RP Sample: "My boy, this was found on one of the men you fought with."Hurlon handed an amulet made of wood painted red, with a strange symbol in yellow painted on it. "I am not sure what this symbol means, but I can help you find answers and hopefully it will lead you to your mother and sister."Confused, Rannon asked the old man."We are but simple villagers, what would cause anyone to attack us?" "There are some evils in this world that cannot be explained my boy."Hurlon replied."Sometimes there are people do things for the sole reason of causing misery." Hurlon pointed to the amulet."I have not seen that symbol before but I can assist you in getting answers. Come with me and I will give you the help you need." Rannon followed his mentor back to his house. There, Hurlon wrote a letter on a piece of parchment, rolled it up and sealed it with a signet ring bearing a symbol which looked like a crown. "Take this to the Bargewright Inn, and make sure it goes directly into the hands of the innkeeper there. He will be able to help you." Rannon took the parchment and put it in his backpack. "I'm still confused Hurlon, what is this all about, why would those men take my mother and sister?" "I'm not sure my boy, but the innkeeper may have some more answers for you. Go quickly, there is no time to waste. Good luck Rannon and may the gods show you fortune." With that, Rannon set off on the trail towards the Bargewright Inn, determined to rescue his sister and mother from their mysterious kidnappers. About Me: I have been playing tabletop RPGs for over 20 years but am new to PbP. I have not played 5th ed yet but have played every other incarnation of D&D. I have only been on this site for a month but check it almost daily during the week, it is a little less often on the weekends. Character Sheet: Last edited by Rayvn2000; Feb 2nd, 2016 at 02:18 PM. |

Name: Mordurk
Race: Half Orc Class: Druid (Circle of the Moon) Appearance: A tall, muscular, grey skinned humanoid man with slightly pointed ears and a pronounced lower jaw. He has thick long black hair tied into several braids, and he wears streaks of white paint on his face. He does not stand like a normal man, but rather crouches slightly which reminds you of something primal. He is dressed in crudely stitched leather armor and carries a spear made out of what appears to be a sharpened rib bone mounted on wood and a battered looking backpack made out of a patchwork of materials. Alignment: Chaotic Good. Background: Hermit (slightly modified). Mordurk was raised by bears and a treant in the High Forest. He has been alone all his life. Traits: I have a deep and powerful respect for nature, and I can be short-tempered with those who don't respect its purity and beauty. I prefer the simple things in life and dislike most modern conveniences. I was actually raised by bears. Ideal: There is signs that nature is in danger, and this danger must be stopped at all costs. Bond: Murdurk is completely loyal to the Emerald Enclave. His best friend is a treant named Walnuteye who he would die for. Flaw: My manners and social graces are often lacking in more civilized areas. Hook: Dark Omens. Faction: Emerald Enclave. RP Sample: This is from a current game in a private thread, hence the secret tag. It's unusually long but a fun one. Blurb about yourself: I'm a pretty simple guy. I'm in my mid-30s, married, former military, now working full time in a blue collar job. I first started roleplaying back in the 1990s - mostly AD&D at the time but then lots of other systems. I had a 10 year break due to serving in the US military, and started getting back into the swing of things a few years ago. I am relatively new to this site, but am active on another PbP site where I also run a campaign. I've been a longtime GM in the past, so I'm an easy player. I like all races and classes, and typically choose whatever will balance out the party if I don't have any immediate ideas. Last edited by Sendor; Jan 14th, 2016 at 07:49 PM. |

I'm surprised there isn't a rush of more applications. I'm confident this is going to be a good game, and know that Noup (yes, that's what I'm calling you) has the writing/storytelling chops to really make this fun. And really, the other bonus, is that ALL of the resources are available, and there aren't any weird caveats or limitations. That is one of the main reasons I applied to this one.
Come on people. I want to see some competition. I want Noup to have to weigh my app against many others that are amazing as well. Bring it on, people.
