[OOC] Realm of the floating islands: A Strife in the Sky

Hello all,

welcome to my adventure. I'm LeDragon, DM since many years and "Realm of the floating islands" is one of my favorite campaigns. It has such a unique atmosphere and the opportunities for divers adventures are endless.

I'm new to DND5e, thus, if you think that I misapply rules, please contact me via PM or within this thread.

Three points to make my DMing easier:

1. Please add at the bottom of each of your post the basic statistics of your character, like AC, current HP, passive perception and a link to your character sheet. A complete stats block is not needed, but welcome.
   
   
2. You may use the Lady Luck thread for rolls (please add a link of the roll to your post) or roll with the inum code [DlCE="Test #1"]inum d20[/DlCE] right into your actions which results in e.g.

   Jasoya attacks the orc with a mighty swing

   Dice * Attack:

   d20+5

   (14)+5

   Total = 19

   (19) and leaves a deep wound

   Dice * damage:

   d8+4

   (7)+4

   Total = 11

   (11).

3. In combat, please summarize your actions additionally in a field below with Action; Bonus Action; Movement; Conditions;

English is not my mother tongue, so mistakes will happen. If anything is unclear or the wording is strange - please tell me. And never forget: we are all here to have fun together!

LeDragon, a little issue with Prrup-tik you may want to consider:

 

Prrup-tik is a Revised Ranger, one of the few still hanging around West Marches. He has potentially problematic ability, basically a radar for humanoids:
"you can attune your senses to determine if any of your favored enemies lurk nearby. By spending 1 uninterrupted minute in concentration (as if you were concentrating on a spell), you can sense whether any of your favored enemies are present within 5 miles of you. This feature reveals which of your favored enemies are present, their numbers, and the creatures’ general direction and distance (in miles) from you. If there are multiple groups of your favored enemies within range, you learn this information for each group."

Importantly, Prrup-tik won't know whether the humanoids are within 100' or one mile.

I think this power could be very annoying for a DM, especially if you're planning on orc enemies, so I invite you to limit it however you would like. On the other hand, maybe you will like it as a plot device.

Thanks for the information. You can use it but maybe, it won't work in the (unfamiliar) sky as well as on the familiar ground.

Cool. I imagine it as Cujo super-sniffing the air and communicating the info to Prrup-tik, so maybe that's where the problems may arise. (: You can assume that he's occasionally doing a check, if you find it convenient to give an alert.

The cold is both for flavour and a real danger. You will roll for both your characters and their pets against cold weather. Expect temperatures far below 0 °C. Your pets need only a warm blanket as long as they don't move around all day.

Sounds like a 10 gp investment in cold weather clothing sounds sensible.

With level 4, this ought to be affordable. But you may also buy second-hand for half price, according to the DM's arbitrarinessalthough the colors and styles may not fit.

What about the fancy flying goggles all of the crew have?
