Warlord on the way to Baron's residence

"I didn't." the young warlord also din't seem to hold the particulars of how or why she'd received training, as worthy of mention. This was both evidenced by the brevity of her reply and her full on dive into what presently held her interest "So you can talk to spirits? Like those of the departed, or something like the spirits of nature? Do you have to summon them, or do you happen upon them similarly to how one would a person on the street? How does one talk to spirits? Can I do it? looking into her eyes at that moment a person would have found it hard not to get drawn in, even if the rapid-fire succession of questions was a bit overwhelming.

AkrusAkrus follows the little entourage out into the brisk night air but not actually into the dwarfs house. The man's talents sounded interesting but the young orc was trying very hard to suppress any and all thoughts he had that linked to that man. Didn't know how the girl or the wizard would react, but the justicar probably wouldn't work with him if he committed a barroom murder. Oh he'd deserve it though, spewing such insults, speaking of **** he knew nothing about. At least a good punch in the jaw was more then called for, but time in the human lands had taught him some restraint.

He had already voiced everything he had to say, though he repeated the point, to the people here he cared about. "Why are we even following this lot, their prioritizing the local missions. Picking flowers and guarding goats doesn't sound like much of an adventure," he says, eyeing Dymitri. "And, noble as saving sick folk is and all, it don't have nothing to do with preserving law, or killing crooks," he continued, slapping the blind man lightly on the shoulder. "We otta be seeing if the constable is still up," he mumbles the last part more to himself, but says nothing else. The idea hit him of trying to simply do the jobs himself, but he didn't really know the names or the addresses of the local ones. He didn't even entertain the idea of tackling the bounties alone, tracking someone with nothing but a city and a name to go on still sounded impossible to him. Worst case scenario he could always seek out the gnome he escorted here, or the noble from the job board. For now though he would wait.

"You know, Balefinn struck me as being earnest about wanting and being somewhat competent at going after bounties. Trust me, I know people." she chirped confidently.

Besides, didn't that blonde doctor person also say he'd help out in that regard. Add me in the mix and we can get to the bottom of any mystery." she remarked, but noticed she was letting her thoughts get away from her, so she returned to her present conversation and simply concluded "Then all that will remain is for a well placed axe blow and for you to collect your share, right? she grinned triumphantly, allowing no retort.

"As far as I'm concerned my adventure has already begun. The free lodging and possible opportunity to earn some travel money beforehand are merely a bonus. I have a really good feeling about this bunch." she didn't notice, but a smile did creep it's way on her face once again as she looked through the group walking the dirt road to Baron's house.

Ren had fallen silent at the reply of flower picking bringing the most good in the world. He wanted to do more, he knew he needn't, but still wanted to do one of the bounties, to bolster his name, earn his stripes and perhaps, with glory would come acceptance. As the gravekeeper left to his housing he followed, allmost leaving the inn before he remembered to give back the noticeboard to the barkeep. He was a few paces behind the group, and too absent-minded to catch up and too conflicted to want to. As such he was last to make it in, and asked the apparent owner of the house for some tea, since he offered. After finding a place to sit he started to meddle in the division of labour after a moment of internal contemplation: "Flames granted me my freedom and my life, I'd hate to see fire used to kill. The man must be stopped and I'd offer myself to the mission. But I lack skills in searching people like you seem to do", he told the warrior and inquisitor

He followed Baron through the trail with the others and past the graveyard to his home, silent and keeping to himself. He couldn't deny however that the half-orc was getting to him. How had someone like him ended up here, and how had he been inducted into civilized life as he was? The only possibility had to be that humans were too foolish to keep him out or drive him back to his orc kind. It was only out of civility and in part compassion that he didn’t strike the fool down where he stood. As always, time would take care of it, as it took care of everything. Either he would wisen up, or he would lay forgotten, face down in the wilds where nature would take him back into the earth.

For his sake, he hoped it was the former.

Inside the home of Baron, he took a seat at the table and leaned against the backrest of his chair and listened while the others talked. From what he could tell, most of the people here were willing to go hunt the bounties but were also seeking to help the people of Thornwall. The most immediate concern, he had to admit, was helping the people of the town. The bounties would remain, he was sure, and although it would take longer to hunt them the more time they were left to their own devices, he was confident in his abilities. They could wait, but perhaps the people of the city and their concerns couldn’t.

“I agree that we should help the people of Thornwall first,” he said, “the bounties will remain as they are and we can always hunt them down after we finish helping the people of this fine town. If anything, they will probably be more receptive towards our cause if we show good faith.”

Ottar the wizardOttar hurried to finish his meal in order to join the hospitable dwarf. "I guessh the bath can to wait for an hour or two," he told the barmaid. A few gold coins were left on the counter as a deposit, and he let the backpack stay. Hopefully the lady didn't fleece him, but even if she did, he reconed he would make a profit from his stay in this town.

"I shall join you, gentlemen and lady."

--

The dwarf was intriguing. He clearly didn't quite fit into the township proper, but he just as clearly had acceptance and a measure of respect. Ottar supposed that the people who dealt with the dead stood a little apart from everyone else. They did something others did not want to, and as such got both gratitude and stigma.

The girl was also fascinating. Beyond her stunning good looks, she seemed to have a reckless enthusiasm for, well, everything.

The other two with which he had not yet exchanged pleasantries mostly defied evaluation as yet. They seemed thoughtful. Ottar's kind of people.

"I wouldn't mind shome tea, thank you."

The walkChuckling at the rapidly asked questions Baron reply's "I can see them like anyone else when they want to be seen, i can feel there presence around me. I can talk to the dead....they don't always talk back though. The spirits i speak with are and have been a guiding force for me ever since i lost my family. They are both natural and unnatural i guess, as for summoning them i wouldn't dare try for i am not powerful enough...yet. Talking to the spirits is something anyone can do, they hear your words most of the time but the trick is to learn to hear them talking back and that's something most folks can't seem to do. So yes i suppose you could talk to them and learn to listen for a response but it would take time."

At homeBaron poured the tea for anyone who asked then noticed the half-orc standing outside the door "Akrus was it? The nights here get rather cold and you never know when a spirit will decide to play tricks. You might as well come in and shut the door, stay warm by the fire and have a drink." after everyone is situated he listens to each person that speaks and then puts forth his own thinking "Yes the people here will very much appreciate the help, and as i said before i want to help with the bounties but the town comes first for me. I know the people here and while most don't care much for me they do understand that i am here if needed." he takes a sip of tea "I realize that for all of you this is just another town you happen to be passing through and that the people don't mean much." at this point Baron looks directly at Akrus "But think about this, if you do help the people here it will help spread your names and that in itself is power, get enough people to know who you are and you could get a lot from them. A discount on armor or weapons here, a free place to stay there and the list goes on but you cant think of it as what you can get. The names of legends are generally people who save others for no other reason than to do it....the rewards help but you don't hear about those much in the stories."

For the rest of the trip to his house, especially when passing near the graveyard, Baron could have sworn he saw the young woman sharply change her viewing direction one or two times, as if trying to catch a glimpse of something that wasn't there.

...

Having listened to some of the propositions, Mithy decided to put forth one of her own and so once again her clear voice filled the room she presently found herself in "Gentleman! I greet you and formerly introduce myself to you all, I am Dymithria Molotv. I see we have a most fortuitous gathering of talents thanks to Baron here's most gracious offer." she gestures with an open palm towards their host, her cup of tea resting on the table in front of her "I therefore see no reason to squabble over which task comes first, as we have enough able bodies to pursue both the good of this fine town, as well as let those with the will and ability, bring these wanted men to justice."

So he followed the troop out into the night, still unarmed and unarmored. It would take too much time to get it all on and he didn't know the town well enough to find the grave-keeper's home on his own. It wasn't like he knew how to fight a ghost anyway, if one appeared.

The walk was pleasant though. The graveyard had a solemn silence that he appreciated. Baron's house did it one better by reminding him of home. Clean, tidy... The smell was off; it wan't his mother's tea. He took a cup all the same. It wasn't bad.

"I'm planning on going after the flowers. I've learned a little about Minnie and her sster's struggles and I feel like my time would be best used trying to resolve that. The name Jared sounds familiar to me, but I can't place it. So, for me that can wait. Perhaps taking care of the problem at the farm should be looked into as well, but there is only so much time in a day..."

“A division of labor then.” Standing from his chair, Balefinn faced the gathering of strangers and shrugged, a shy, nervous grin breaking his normally reserved demeanor. “We are currently a large force, with a disparate set of skills and abilities. Those with knowledge of healing, of medicinal relief, should gather the flowers. Perhaps with an able guard, someone knowledgeable of survival in the wilderness. The remainder should visit the good farmer and prove our strength of arms, a tracker would be best to lead that expedition. Whomever finishes first provides aid to the other.”
“The better wilderness guide should be at the farm, no idea what is attacking or bulletin would have mentioned; Conclusion: creatures not normal for these parts. My own lack of knowledge of nature makes me a poor choice for the flowers, especially with lack of vision making even spotting them impossible. Will need to join the party at the farm.” “Our next step should be a division of labor. We should highlight our strengths and decide where we best would serve. I for example, am decent in a fight, and good at tracking criminals, but useless at a visual hunt like the flowers require. I shall go with the group heading to the farm, but once again insist that a more nature-minded individual lead this particular mission.”

AkrusExactly, so what the hell do we need the rest of these fools for! Akrus kept that thought in his head, following on the groups heels. The graveyard didn't bother him too much, it was odd knowing he was surrounded by so many dead bodies, but not quite frightening. He wondered idly why they went through such trouble, sure the markers and gravestones he could understand remembering the dead and all that, by why dig such a large hole? In his tribe they just carried the bodies out a ways and dumped them for some lucky animal or slave to find. This system just seemed pointless, wasteful even.

The dwarfs invitation to come in broke him from his thoughts, and shattered his calm. "Cold doesn't bother me dwarf, and spirits don't frighten me," he said through gritted teeth. He'd already said all he had to say, and he could hear them fine from out here. Besides, it was a nice night, the stars were bright tonight, so crisp without any light from the town to dim them. The young man wondered idly if his mother was stargazing right now, she loved to, and his father let her, when he didn't need anything. He remembered fondly the many nights he'd spent at that cave opening thirty feet up a straight cliff that his mother called their 'awning'. Sitting in her lap, head against her chest, soft hands running through his hair as he stared up at the night sky. A smile found its way to his face, a real warm smile.

"I'm no tracker..." Mithy threw her hands on the table in front of her and stood up, taking a good look to those to her left and to her right, making sure no one would interrupt, before continuing "...at least not in the wilderness. It is people, that are my greatest resource." she withdrew her palms from the table, straightened her back, crossed her hands in front of her chest and shifted to a matter of factly tone of voice "I don't boast strength, but..." she paused, a confident smile creeping its way across her face "...skill of arms is something I will gladly contribute towards resolving the farmer's troubles. As well as, of course, our future ventures afterwards.” with a brief nod, she signified she’d finished her piece.

The soft crunch of gravel under a boot was the only warning Akrus had before a man materialized out of the darkness of the grave yard. The man was the only local in town seen to be carrying a weapon or wearing armor aside from the two on duty at the gate. A slight smile crossed his face as he saw Arkus "Pardon me, I was seeing Sir Baron." the man said before turning towards the door of the house and knocking.

"Baron, its Momon." the man called out before opening the door. "”I am sorry to interrupt, but Katelyn told me about the, uhm, discussions that were had at Green Briar. I spoke to Pack, and he instructed me to come over and help organize the group. I know most of what is going on and can answer basic questions. Pack is busy dealing with the arrival of the party from Silverymoon, so he asked me to handle this tonight." Letting himself in, Momon moved about the place with almost as much familiarity as Baron himself. Momon retrieved himself a cup and poured his own tea, he then retrieved some honey and added a copious amount to his drink, rendering it undrinkable-y sweet by most peoples standards.

"I could not help but overhear that you are planning to split in two, groups. For the sake of my sanity, could you divide yourselves to opposite sides of the room so I can better visualize what is happening?" With that Momon paused and waited.

AkrusAkrus brought his gaze down from the bright stars overhead to the shadowy outline of a man. One hand came up slowly to grip his own weapon but it slid away easily at the words shared. He gave no response but followed the man inside, just to the doorway, keeping a couple meters from the others.

"Was under the impression me, she, the blind bloke and the wizard were all going after the bounties," the orc called to the new arrival's back. "You got details on them yeah? Fire wizard didn't have an actual reward quoted, I'm gonna need that. Also what happens if we kill the ones wanted alive? Just bring the body back? We still get the reward yeah?" he was fairly confident they just wanted them alive for public executions anyway. At least for the deserter, desertion had to be punished by death right? Long as they had a body to stick on the tree what'd anyone if it was breathing or not.

OOCI as a player have no strong preference on quests, the farm was one of the ones I voted for, so I'm happy to take it.

"Bounties you say?" Momon asked, surprised, "Normally trained bounty hunters were the ones that often went after those jobs. Often it is groups that have a lot of equiptment and experience with each other. I am sure they could handle Woosh, maybe Jared, but Elbryan.....Impossible!"

Pulling a notepadsmall book from his pocket, it was obvious that Momon was rather privileged to be carrying around such a book withhim"Woosh Fingerfree if a known thief, and a suspected member of the thieves guild. Here in Thornwall, we have reason to believe he is running an illegal gambling ring. While we are not that strict on gambling, we prefer if it is not rigged. We are in charge of initializing that bounty, and I hear word that Silverymoon, Nesme, and Luskan may have bounties of their own.""

Flipping the page on his book Momon continued. "Jared Far's bounty is being ran by Waterdeep's lieutenant of the city guard; however the bounty can be paid at most any town in the region. He is a trained solider, and will be a bit more difficult to capture."" Momon paused and glanced slowly after each person, his voice growing serious. ""Elbryan, however, is a bounty that can only be claimed by going to Waterdeep. He has already roasted one team, and by latest reports have twenty-two victims to his chaos. Rumor has it he is a very accomplished mage and warrior, and it is claimed he carries a rather impressive great sword to go with his magical abilities. I would not recommend a group of amateurs to attempt that bounty." a small smirk crossed Momon's face at this time, almost in a cocky manor as he looked at the group "Not to imply you are amateurs."

"As for the first two, I can not speak as to Jared, but normally if you kill a target wanted alive; you would be eligible for only half of the bounty.....if that. I can tell you that to claim with Thornwall on Woosh, he would need to be alive. His crimes do not warrant a death sentence here in Thornwall and we will not promote in needless bloodshed. Pack's word would be final, but if you ask me; I would not pay on Jared's bounty either if he was killed while attempting to capture him."
