Survivor list is updated at bottom of original post. General feedback: @psuedenim - Your character description comes off very realistic. It actually reads like scout leaders I knew when I was a kid. So to dive in a bit, what skill would you say Ray is most competent with as a survivalist? Regarding Ray's 2 kids, how old are they and what memory does he hold on to the most from each of them? What comes to mind immediately when he thinks of them? @Stormhammer - I get what your going for but I'm not entirely sure what drives the character in this scenario. I feel like he would just take off, why would he stick around with these people? His family got a fresh start but does it matter to him? Do these people matter to him? Does he care what happened to his family? Did he actually help people when the quarantine was overrun or did he just fall in with the group later? @OneDarkness - A well written tragic backstory and I have only two requests for clarity:
@Regular Guy - I get a great vision of this character with how you write him, looks good. I also love the fact you seem to be new here by the post count and provide an app that belies that fact. As a person immersed in the health care profession with conflicting information what does Thomas think this is and how would he approach new people encountered with flu like symptoms? @In The Mix - Love it, I assume she is pursuing medicine in college but what is a secondary passion? What compels her when she isn't studying? Is she originally from Kentucky? Is this week long tour confined to Kentucky campuses for a reason? What did her father do? @Palliven - Quote:

Tia's father was in training at US Army Armor School at Fort Knox, a recent First Lieutenant he was stationed there taking the Armor Basic Officer Leaders Course.
My vision is more stealth oriented, climbing, stealth, lock picking, perceptive, that type of deal. I found some details online for character creation and picturing some of the below assuming that site is accurate. Stats: focus on dex, int, perc skills: acro, climbing, dodge, escapism, lock picking, notice, pick pocketing, scavenging, stealth Qualities: Situational Awareness, Threat Detection, then either hard to kill or acute sense maybe (open to suggestions)

Felicity (18) Tommy Jr. (17) John (15) Marcus (13) Sarah (10) Lucas (8) For all of her life, she's had at least three brothers to play team sports with, mostly basketball, but also baseball, football, American football ![]() Her love of life, and more recently nature. The aforementioned Louisa is a new friend of Felicity's. She only moved to Michigan herself 4 years before, halfway through the school year. And while she certainly got Felicity's attention during her recital, it wasn't until the 9th grade that Felicity drew up the courage to actually talk to her. Louisa helped bring Felicity out of her shell, to broaden her horizons. They began hiking together, enjoying nature, seeing the world. Quote:
She has a suspicion that Felicity like likes her, but she hasn't pushed her, one way or the other. For her, Felicity is like a rabbit. If she moves too quickly, she might just frighten the girl away, for good. And Louisa wants Felicity to stay with her. No, Michigan. Wyoming, specifically, Southwest of metropolitan Grand Rapids. Quote:
But there is also the fact that her father is from Kentucky. WKU (Western Kentucky University) is his Alma Matter, and he'd love nothing more than for her to carry on his legacy. "Did"? "Did"? Timothy Sr. is a partner at the Briggs, Schultz, and Davidson law firm. He focuses mainly on business law, but has delved into religious rights law as well. He is a dutiful member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, and a Boy Scout troop leader (Troop 344). His wife, Melissa, who graduated from the University of Tennessee (Education), teaches high school history, is a guiding member of the Girl Scout Unit 303, and also coaches the high school girl's swimming, as well as track & field teams. She's also a pretty good cook. |

@Skryptik
I used to help out with Scouts so I've seen some of how they work. I have also watched the movie Scouts vs Zombies which is as cheesy as you expect. As to Ray and surviving, I would go with camp crafts. He has experience backpacking on the trails so he has a good idea of how much to pack with regards to water, basic food, tent etc. Tying of knots (obviously ![]() He might have some basic organisation skills from being a low level mgr in a bank. His kids are 2 boys 10 and 12 and his favourite memory is flying kites on the beaches of Oregon from their last family holiday 6years ago (a save the marriage trip that didn't work unfortunately). When he thinks of them he imagines they are safe and playing in his grandparents garden (still assumes this is a local issue)

Always wanted to try AFMBE, so here's my app.
![]() Name: Sonja Reynolds Age: 28 Personality: Bubbly perky, largely due to mostly being assigned stories that focus on the lighter side of life. Her personality off camera is more reserved and serious. She's a natural introvert who fakes it because of her ambition. Description: A reporter for a local TV station, Sonja is a beautiful young woman who has reported on just about as many “cat suck in a tree” stories that she can handle. But she grins and bears them knowing that she needs to put in the grunt work if she hopes to make it to anchordom, much less her dream of a spot on the network news lineup. The recent July 4th celebration seemed like just another mundane event she had to report on, but things quickly grew beyond anything she can imagine. Now Sonja is cut off, terrified-- and ambitious. She knows if she can survive this her first hand accounts of the crisis are going to make her a star, and she's always been someone to try and make lemonade out of lemons. Why are you in Muldraugh for the 4th of July? Sonja is covering the local 4th of July festivities. It's not the work she dreams of doing, but she still does her best at it, knowing well that if she ingratiates herself with residents it's only going to lead them to demand they see more of her on TV, which will only be good for her career. What are you doing when the attacks start happening and everyone is told to get indoors to safety? Confused as anyone at first Sonja makes sure she;s out in the middle of the crowd trying to demand answers from the police and later the military. Nothing short of arrest dissuades her, and she does her best to offer up calm and reasonable information to a scared and confused citizenry. What role do you play in helping other survivors and/or the military in establishing and securing a quarantine zone in the middle of downtown? Sonja's charisma and media connections force the government to grudgingly tolerate her, and she serves as a spokesman for them in getting information out to the citizens through a trusted source. She informs the public of areas that are safe, those that are in danger of being overrun, and generally tries to let people understand more of what's going on. How do you escape when the zone is overrun and what do you do next? Refusing any offers of evacuation(rightly seeing this as the biggest story of her career) Sonja was in the infirmary camp interviewing survivors when all hell broke first. She barely escaped with her life, managing to acquire a vehicle in the confusion and retreat just ahead of a horde of the cannibals. Separated from her faithful cameraman Duke in the confusion, she sadly assumed he is dead, and partially blames herself for forcing him to continue working. At the moment she is trying to find other survivors and recording equipment that will allow her to continue to broadcast. The Plot Drivers - 1. Make it through this and make anchor at national news. 2. Interview as many survivors and record as much of the crisis as possible, for the history books. 3. Find out if Duke managed to survive. The man had been with her entire career, she owes him that much. Last edited by Silver Priest; Aug 7th, 2022 at 01:12 AM. |

In regards to the character... I'm thinking (without tying to meta-game) that as rescue runs are being made, the general consensus is that something must be causing the 'sickness'. It doesn't just randomly occur in victims. Maybe the military has taken over the situation and has ordered that anyone going into the zone MUST wear MOPP gear or at least PPE that involves at the very minimum some sort of face/respiratory protection and gloves. I don't think he quite knows what it is. Until he sees the vector being actively transferred to another victim, he would probably believe it is a highly contagious virus spread through the air. In the back of his mind, he may see it as a type of airborne Ebola. But he knows that is not possible. I kinda see it as that scene in World War Z where Gerry sees a man being bitten and then counts to 12 until the victim becomes fulminant. But my character hasn't gotten to that point yet. He usually arrives on scene after the disease/virus has been passed to another victim. He would go on runs in full protective gear, whether it is MOPP/OSHA/ or FFPE, and specifically using respiratory protection. |

Absolutely,
I returned home from the airport a few hours ago after a 7 day beach trip and was able to update the original post very quickly just to indicate applications are closed before I started going through the post trip motions of unpacking (literally and figuratively). And as for the current applications: Everyone is in! Easiest decision ever. 7 apps, all great characters I want to see more of so I'll be sending pms out soon with a link to the game board but if you click the sig it will take you there too. Not much there to look at though honestly and I will be putting more together there as I have time tonight. The OOC board is up so we can at least move chat from here to there.
